Yuri (ユーリ, Yūri) is a mysterious figure from Avalon who transforms into Kamen Rider Saikou (仮面ライダー最光, Kamen Raidā Saikō). He was also the guardian of the legendary King of Arthur Wonder Ride Book, until he encountered Touma while he was seeking it.

Character History

Not much is known about his history, other than he was the guardian of King of Arthur Wonder Ride Book in Avalon. and a close ally of Tassel. Yuri interacts with Touma again, when he sees him in danger from being attacked by the Sword of Logos, saving Touma and Mei. ^{[Chapter 16: Saving the World, A Ray of Light.]}

Personality

Yuri proves to be inexperienced in the outside world just like Rintaro, but to a greater degree not knowing how to dress, imitating the costumes of various people. He also shows wanting to fight the Megids even though anyone can get hurt, clashing with Touma over who he should protect.

Kin no Buki Gin no Buki (金の武器 銀の武器, lit. "The Golden Weapon and the Silver Weapon") is Saikou's primary sword form accessed by using the Kin no Buki Gin no Buki Wonder Ride Book in the Kougouken Saikou and the Seiken Saikou Driver.

As a sword himself, Saikou is able to not only surpass every Rider from the Sword of Logos, he is also powerful than Calibur in terms of power.

The Kougouken Saikou is composed of the following parts:

• Sword Grip (ソードグリップ, Sōdo Gurippu): The handle. Allow those who recognize the power to hold this handle and grant it the power of light.
• Ride Signum (ライドシグヌム, Raido Shigunumu): The stamp device at the bottom of the Sword Grip. By placing it on top of the Seiken Saikou Driver's Ride Integrator, it bring out the power of the Wonder Ride Book. As a result, it activates strengthening and special moves with various traditional powers.
• Tourer Mirror (トゥーラーミラ, Toūrā Mira): The blade in front of the Ride Signum. The light-emitting blade dramatically improves the destructive power of the swordsman, such as acceleration and continuous rotation.
• Ride Sword Leg (ライドソードレッグ, Raido Sōdo Reggu): The legs. By flying in the air using the power of holy light, it grants the ability to freely perform old sword techniques. In addition, it enables light speed jumping by blending the whole body with light.
• Saikou Trigger (サイコウトリガー, Saikō Torigā): The trigger. It plays the role as a starter in various attacks.
• Drab Claust (ドラブクラウスト, Dorabu Kurausuto): The connection device. By putting the Seiken in the Shadow side of the Saikou Driver, it replenishes and restores energy to prepare for the next battle.
• Saikou Shelf (サイコウシェルフ, Saikō Sherufu): The base of the Kougouken where the Wonder Ride Book is placed in. It draws power from the Wonder Ride Book and transmits it to the Seiken.
• Aurum Side (アウルムサイド, Aurumu Saido): The right half. It possesses the power of the story "Kin no Buki Gin no Buki" and brings the power to master all kinds of weapons.
• Argentum Side (アルゲンタムサイド, Arugentamu Saido): The left half. It possesses the power of the story "Kin no Buki Gin no Buki", harbors the soul in the Seiken Kougouken Saikou and brings the power of unity.
• Triastral Runes (トリアストラルーン, Toriasutora Rūn): The Kougouken's source. The universal holy light brings about paranormal phenomena such as highlighting evil when it is to illuminate everything, counteracting terrible illusions, and sometimes erasing people's memories and freeing them from evil.
• Saikou Helm (サイコウヘルム, Saikō Herumu): The helmet. By transferring human consciousness to the Seiken, the user become the Swordsman of Light.
• Arausalt (アラウザルト, Arauzaruto): The awakening device. By unfolding the blade, the Seiken Kougouken Saikou awakens.
• Karadoruks (カラドルークス, Karadorūkusu): The golden blade. The blade that emits holy light boasts a sharp sharpness, and by increasing the amount of light emitted, it has the power to cut even invisible things. This makes it even possible to separate the holy and the evil.

This form's finisher is the Hikari Are (光あれ, lit. "Light That Up"): Saikou charges Kougouken Saikou with ivory energy, before he spins and delivers a series of powerful high speed slashes to the targets, leaves a golden particle upon impact.

Pressing the button on the side of the Kin no Buki Gin no Buki Wonder Ride Book summons Saikou Shadow (最光シャドー, Saikou Shadō), who emerges from a silhouette created by Saikou's light.

Though merely a puppet that Saikou can control, Saikou Shadow has a multitude of abilities on its own. These include being able to turn into a dark cloud for quicker movement, intangibility, and an elastic body.

Saikou Shadow consists of the following parts:

• Saikou Shadow Helm (最光シャドーヘッド, Saikō Shadō Herumu): The helmet.
  • Saikou Shadow Reader (最光シャドーリーダー, Saikō Shadō Rīdā): The sensory organ. It plays the role of a radar by sensitively detecting the surrounding information and the state of the enemy, and has the role of sending the obtained information to Kamen Rider Saikou. It is also used as a means of communication when it is separated from Kamen Rider Saikou.
  • Ater Mask (アーテルマスク, Āteru Masuku): The mask. As the core of the brightest shadow, it controls the whole body and has the role of making Kamen Rider Saikou light even brighter.
  • Saikou Shadow Eye (最光シャドーアイ, Saikō Shadō Ai): The visual sensors. It functions as the other of Kamen Rider's most brilliant eyes, and secures an advantage in battle with more diverse vision.
• Ater Robe (アーテルローブ, Āteru Rōbu): The armored suit granted by the user of the Seiken Kougouken Saikou. It gives shape to the empty existence created by light. In addition, by putting the power of the Wonder Ride Book contained in the "Shadow Shelf" of the Seiken Saikou Driver Buckle, various abilities are demonstrated.
• Ater Receiver (アーテルレシーバー, Āteru Reshībā): The light receiving organ of the Saikou Shadow. It is scattered in various parts of the whole body, and by receiving the light emitted from Kamen Rider Saikou, the intention is read and the Saikou Shadow can be operated freely.
• Saikou Shadow Body (最光シャドーボディ, Saikō Shadō Bodi): The body. The silhouette is emphasized as the intensity of the received light increases, and the density increases to form a tough body. On the contrary, as the light is weakened, the density becomes so low that it allows substances to pass through, and it is not damaged.
• Saikou Shadow Arm (最光シャドーアーム, Saikō Shadō Āmu): The arms. It has the property of increasing its strength as the intensity of the received light increases, and it can be further strengthened by adding that power to Kamen Rider's most light swordsmanship.
• Ater Glo (アーテルグロー, Āteru Gurō, short for "Ater Gloves"): The gloves. It has the role of raising the sword technique of Kamen Rider Saikou to a higher level by demonstrating the skillful technology that strongly backs up the Seiken Kougouken Saikou.
• Saikou Shadow Leg (最光シャドーレッグ, Saikō Shadō Reggu): The legs. It has the characteristic that the leg strength increases as the intensity of the received light increases, and it can be further strengthened by adding that power to Kamen Rider Saikou's physique.
• Ater Boots (アーテルブーツ, Āteru Būtsu): The boots. Boasting a fighting speed that reaches sub-light speed and motility that enables it to follow the illusionary appearance, it strongly backs up the physical technique of Kamen Rider Saikou.

• Touma Kamiyama/Kamen Rider Saber: Yuri first met Touma during Touma's first visit to Avalon. Yuri warned him that it is dangerous to obtain the King of Arthur Wonder Ride Book and actively encourages him to give it up while he still can. However, Touma showed his resolve to save his friends and the world to Yuri, who decides to place its power in his hands. He also gives him an incomplete version of the Dragonic Knight Wonder Ride Book and puts him through a series of trials to determine whether he was worthy of using its power. As Touma completes all the trials and obtains the Wonder Ride Book's power, Yuri finally acknowledges him and offers his aid and allegiance to Touma as he was branded a traitor and attacked by his friends who were manipulated by Reika Shindai. Although Touma doesn't trust him completely, by losing his friends, both of them also cringe due to the fact of protecting people.
• Mei Sudo: Yuri saved her when she was about to be hurt by Ren, when the Sword of Logos turned against Touma, Mei notices that Yuri is much more inexperienced than Rintaro in the outside world.
• Tassel: They both watch Touma from afar in their fights.

Portrayal

Yuri is portrayed by Tomohiro Ichikawa (市川 知宏, Ichikawa Tomohiro). As for Kamen Rider Saikou Shadow, his suit actor is Makoto Arakawa.

Etymology

• Saikou's name is a combination of the Japanese words for Greatest (最, Sai) and the compound variant of Light (光, Kō), translating the name to "Greatest Light". It is also a pun on the phrase "the best" (最高, Saikō).

• Kamen Rider Saikou is the first Saber Rider to have his name be based on his sword/transformation weapon.
• The blade of the Kougouken Saikou could be considered an equivalent to the Sword Crown of the other Saber Riders.
• Yuri is the first Rider since Kiriya Kujo from Kamen Rider Ex-Aid to have a non-humanoid primary Rider form.
  • He is however, the first Rider whose primary Rider form is a weapon.
  • Saikou is the first Kamen Rider who technically does not transform in any way but instead transfers his consciousness into his transformation device.
• Saikou Shadow wielding Kamen Rider Saikou is similar to how King of Arthur can wield Kamen Rider Saber as the Saver Saber.
