The Wonder Ride Books (ワンダーライドブック, Wandā Raido Bukku) are book-like devices used by the Riders in Kamen Rider Saber.

Wonder Ride Books are the lost pages of the Almighty Book that created the world itself, which was torn into pieces following The Sword of Logos Tragedy, and contain the power of different stories. [ Chapter 1: In The Beginning, There Was a Flame Swordsman.] Wanting some of the power, the Megid created Alter Ride Books as counterfeit replacements.[ Chapter 2: The Water Swordsman, Along With a Blue Lion.]

Wonder Ride Books are divided into three categories:

  • Book of God Beast (神獣の本, Shinjū no Hon): Books about mythological creatures; placed in the right-hand slot of the Swordriver.
  • Book of Animals (生物の本, Seibutsu no Hon): Books about living creatures; placed in the center slot of the Swordriver.
  • Book of Stories (物語の本, Monogatari no Hon): Books about heroic adventure stories; placed in the left-hand slot of the Swordriver.

Each Wonder Ride Book features an indicator on the bottom of its Cover Page that indicates which slot it should be placed in the Swordriver. The Omni Force and Grimoire Wonder Ride Books are the only Wonder Ride Books to not be categorized.

Design[]

As with any regular book, the Wonder Ride Books are primarily composed of different pages, with most standard Wonder Ride Books each containing three:[1]:

  • Cover Page (表紙ページ, Hyōshi Pēji): The page that shows what the story is.
  • Story Page (ストーリーページ, Sutōrī Pēji): What the Rider Book is about.
  • Transformation Page (変身ページ, Henshin Pēji): The page that allows for transformation to a Kamen Rider.

They also contain the following parts:

  • Guard Binding (ガードバインディング, Gādo Baindingu): The Wonder Ride Book's protective cover. It has the role of displaying the contained folklore, preventing any attacks, and protecting the recorded information.
    • Alter Ride Books contain Jail Binding (ジェイルバインディング, Jeiru Baindingu), which seals the Megid inside it.
    • Jaou Dragon and Emotional Dragon possess the Revision Guard Bind (リビジョンガードバインド, Ribijon Gādo Baindo), serving as stronger protection to its contents.
    • Dragonic Knight and King Lion Daisenki possess Hide Binding (ハイドバインディング, Haido Baindingu), which, for the former book, on top of adding strength to the inscribed lore, reseals and hides the power of the book when a qualified user is absent, and, for the latter book, serves to contain the folklore.
    • Elemental Dragon has Elemental Binding (エレメンタルバインディング, Erementaru Baindingu), that can correspond to all attributes given.
    • Tategami Hyoujuusenki possesses Pole Star Binding (ポールスターバインディング, Pōru Sutā Baindingu) that increases the user's power to the limit.
    • Wonder Almighty possesses All Binding (オールバインディング, Ōru Baindingu) which is of the highest quality.

Spireader

  • Spireader (スピリーダ, Supirīda): Special metal fittings for speed reading. Quickly read the Wonder Ride Book by touching it with the Seiken. As a result, it becomes possible to temporarily hold all the power of the traditions written in the Wonder Ride Book in the Seiken.
  • Text of Wonder (テキストオブワンダー, Tekisuto obu Wandā): A huge story spelled out in the Wonder Ride Book. Various legends are stored as textual information due to mysterious characters. The voice reading device “Ride Spell” for extracting information reads aloud in a language that can be understood by the person who opened the book.
    • Alter Ride books possess Text of Alter (テキストオブアルター, Tekisuto obu Arutā), which carry the same elements as the Text of Wonder, but associated with Megid.
    • Jaou Dragon and Emotional Dragon possess the Protrude of Wonder (プロトルードオブワンダー, Purotorūdo obu Wandā) display on top of the standard Text of Wonder. It acts to both stabilize the transformation, and suppress the miasma flowing from the Text of Wonder for Jaou Dragon and balance the power of the three dragons for Emotional Dragon.
    • Dragonic Knight possesses the Stained Enclosure (ステンドエンクローザ, Sutendo Enkurōza) display alongside the standard Text of Wonder. A lore releaser for the Dragonic Knight Wonder Ride Book. It has the role of releasing the power of the king's armor, which is described in the deep folklore of "Dragonic Knight" contained in each layer, at once.
    • King Lion Daisenki possesses a Transcarving (トランスカーヴィング, Toransukāvu~ingu) display, which changes depending on the mode used by Kamen Rider Blades.
    • Primitive Dragon possesses the Berserk Carving (バーサークカーヴィング, Bāsāku Kāvu~ingu), which causes the user to become a wild swordsman with nothing but destruction in their mind, and the Primitive Hand (プリミティブハンド, Purimitibu Hando) that grasps additional Wonder Ride Books contained in its Get Shelf (ゲットシェルフ, Getto Sherufu) to fill in the gaps of lore that Primitive Dragon has lost over time.
    • Elemental Dragon possesses the Authent Carving (オーセントカーヴィング, Ōsento Kāvu~ingu), which acts as a lore releaser.
    • Tategami Hyoujuusenki possesses coat of arms-like Crysta (クリスタ, Kurisuta) panels, which trigger finishers based on which one is set in the mouth of the Tategami Northern Rise (タテガミノーザンライズ, Tategami Nōzan Raizu), by toggling the Snow Book Marker (スノーブックマーカー, Sunō Bukku Mākā) and moving the Index Rider (インデックスライダ, Indekkusu Raida) before activating the Seiken.
    • Wonder Almighty possesses the Librarian Index (リブラリアンインデックス, Riburarian Indekkusu), which acts as a lore releaser. It also selects the appropriate power based on the user, and shares power of all things inscribed in the Wonder Ride Book to other Seiken wielders.

Functionality[]

Wonder Ride Books are items of great power. [Chapter 2: The Water Swordsman, Along With a Blue Lion.] On their own, a Wonder Ride Book has limited capacity to protect its holder, as seen when Brave Dragon Wonder Ride Book protected Touma by lifting and pushing away the falling debris. [Chapter 1: In The Beginning, There Was a Flame Swordsman.]

A Wonder Ride Book can be inserted into a Seiken to let its user transform. Seiken Swordriver can use up to 3 Wonder Ride Books at once. Wonder Ride Books have different compatibility to each other, depending on their elements. When two or more compatible Books are used together in a matching Swordriver, they produce a form with greater combat ability and the Swordriver making a unique transformation announcement. [ Chapter 3: A Father, and a Swordsman.] A Wonder Ride Book can also be scanned in a sword to perform an attack of its power, even when the user is not in the form of the Wonder Ride Book. [Chapter 2: The Water Swordsman, Along With a Blue Lion.]

Alter Ride Books can be used to summon Megid monsters, who in turn can drag a section of the real world into the Wonder World and wreak havoc to create more Alter Ride Books. As long as an Alter Ride Book is intact, the Megid can be re-summoned as many times as possible. In addition, they can be used to turn humans into Megid by dropping a blank Alter Rider Book to their victim, causing their desires and lifeforce to become the driving force of the book, eventually the Alter Ride Book will finish absorbing the lifeforce of the victim, killing them and becoming a completed Alter Ride Book.

Brave Dragon Wonder Ride Book (ブレイブドラゴンワンダーライドブック, Bureibu Doragon Wandā Raido Bukku) is the personal Wonder Ride Book of Kamen Rider Saber, who uses it in the Seiken Swordriver to access his main form, Brave Dragon. It is also used in conjuction with Haouken Xross Saber to access his final form, Kamen Rider Xross Saber. It is based on a dragon. The text on the left side of the Transformation Page roughly translates to "A very brave dragon joins with the sacred sword and dwells within you." The book's name is shortened to "Dragon" in the Swordriver's announcements and "Kaenryuu" in the Bladriver's announcements.

Unlike most Wonder Ride Books, it doesn't have a shortened name in the Swordriver's announcements, but is referred to as "Jaa Ryuu" in the Bladriver's announcements.

Amazing Siren Wonder Ride Book (アメイジングセイレーンワンダーライドブック, Ameijingu Seirēn Wandā Raido Bukku) is used by Kamen Rider Falchion to access their Amazing Siren form. It is based on a sirenIcon-wikipedia.

Due to the book being based off of a siren, it has the ability to remove specific memories from a person. The book also can duplicate itself for another user to use.

Jaou Dragon Wonder Ride Book (ジャオウドラゴンワンダーライドブック, Jaou Doragon Wandā Raido Bukku) is used by Kamen Rider Calibur in the Jaken Caliburdriver to access his final form, Jaou Dragon. It is based on a dragon and a pop-up book. It is created by absorbing the power of three Alter Ride Books and three Wonder Ride Books, and the completion of writing in a book via the Megid's writing device. The book is referred to as "Jaou" in the Bladriver's announcements.

Primitive Dragon Wonder Ride Book (プリミティブドラゴンワンダーライドブック, Purimitibu Doragon Wandā Raido Bukku) is used by Kamen Rider Saber along with a standard Wonder Ride Book in the Seiken Swordriver to access his super form, Primitive Dragon. It is based on a skeletal dragon and forbidden books. It was originally the Forbidden Tome (禁書, Kinsho) Storious stole from the Southern Base before it reacted to Touma and transformed into a Wonder Ride Book, corrupting his mind in the process. Once bound to Touma, it cannot be read or analyzed by other people, and it will teleport to Touma and take over his mind whenever he is in danger. Master Logos allows Touma to have the Wonder Ride Book and claims that it will bring glory to his organization.[Chapter 24: On My Father's Back, the Future He Carried.]

Although it enables her to work smoothly, it also creates a world with an endless time loop. It is based on her own life story.

  • Usotsuki Wolf Alter Ride Book (うそつきウルフアルターライドブック, Usotsuki Urufu Arutā Raido Bukku, lit. "Liar Wolf"): presumably summons the Usotsuki Megid and the Wolf Megid. It is based on The Boy Who Cried WolfIcon-wikipedia.[23]

Desast Alter Ride Book (デザストアルターライドブック, Dezasuto Arutā Raido Bukku): An Alter Ride Book that unseals and summons Desast, created by combining all three categories of the Megid. Uniquely, the book can also repair any part of Desast's body, provided that the Alter Ride Book is intact. It was damaged in Desast's battle as the second Kamen Rider Falchion against Storious, and further damaged when he attempted to heal himself.

In Kamen Rider Kenzan's fight against Lord of Wise Spartan, he used the Desast Alter Ride Book in conjunction with the Mumeiken Kyomu to perform Desast's Calamity Strike, though the attack would cause the book and Desast's scarf to disintegrate. The book would be reconstructed by Ecole in an attempt for Foundation X to combat Zein, and was later transformed into the Gaikotsu Ninjaden Wonder Ride Book.

Blank (ブランク, Buranku): The blank form of Alter Ride Books. It is usually used by Megid to turn an area of the real world into the Wonder World, or transport civilians that opens the book there.

These Alter Ride Books come in two types. The first type consists of specially created Alter Ride Books that are used to transform a human into a Megid. The second type constists of the pieces of the Almighty Book originally used by Storious, Legeiel, and Zooous to transform into Megid 2000 years ago.

Shirayuki Yeti Alter Ride Book (白雪イエティアルターライドブック, Shirayuki Ieti Arutā Raido Bukku, lit. Snow White Yeti): transforms a human into the Yeti Megid. It is based on a yetiIcon-wikipedia.

  • The majority of the Wonder Ride Books are voiced by Akio Otsuka (大塚 明夫, Ōtsuka Akio).
  • The Emotional Dragon Wonder Ride Book is still voiced by Akio (for the Brave Dragon), but additionally voiced by:
    • Miyu Fukuda (福田 みゆ, Fukuda Miyu) for the Rune Bright Dragon, who also voiced the vocal sections of both the Grimoire and Eneiken Noroshi.
    • Eizo Sakamoto (坂本 英三, Sakamoto Eizou) for the Rune Dim Dragon, who also voices the majority of the vocal sections of the Seiken Swordriver.
  • Akio and Eizo still voice some parts of the Wonder Almighty Wonder Ride Book, though the story announcement (and part of the activation) are voiced by the first six Seiken riders (Saber, Blades, Espada, Buster, Kenzan, and Slash), in addition to Luna due to her being a component of the book's creation. Parts of the story announcement are specifically voiced by (in order):

  • The three different types of standard Wonder Ride Books have a formula to their Transformation Page layout, and when put in the Swordriver they form a spread of the rider form.
    • A Book of God Beasts' Transformation Page will always have the right arm on the left page and the Rider on the right page.
    • A Book of Animals' Transformation Page will always have the Rider on the left page and the left arm on the right page.
    • A Book of Stories' Transformation Page will always have a double spread of a left arm.
  • The three different types of Wonder Ride Books also have a formula to their introduction stories.
    • A Book of God Beasts will always begin with "Once..." (かつて, Katsute)
    • A Book of Animals will always begin with "This..." (この, Kono)
    • A Book of Stories will always begin with "A certain..." (とある, Toaru)
  • In the DX version of the Swordriver, either the Brave Dragon, Lion Senki, or Lamp do Alangina Wonder Ride Books must be included for a unique multiple-book combination to happen within their respective element (Rekka, Nagare, Ikazuchi), otherwise it will result in the standard Wonder Rider announcement. Any possible implication this has on the Swordriver's actual functionality in the show is unknown as such combinations have not been utilized by Saber, Blades, and Espada.
  • Kamen Rider Decade is the first Legend Rider to have two different Densetsu Wonder Ride Books, the Decade Sekai Ryokouki and Decade Sekai Ryokouki Neo Wonder Ride Books.

  • The Konchuu Daihyakka and Ocean History Wonder Ride Books used by the Shindai siblings have unique designs, feature golden Spireaders, and are based on collections of animals rather than a specific one like with other Animal Wonder Books.
  • Although the Ghost Ijinroku Wonder Ride Book already appeared in the other media, the Ghost Ijinroku Wonder Ride Book is the first Legend Rider Wonder Ride Book to debut in a live-action appearance.
  • The TVKun Wonder Ride Book is currently the only book to not have its title in Romanji, Kanji, or a combination of both. Instead, it is written in ancient letters.
  • The Omni Force Wonder Ride Book is the first Wonder Ride Book to not have its title on the Cover Page.
  • The Grimoire Wonder Ride Book's Story Page is slightly retooled from the Omni Force Wonder Ride Book.
  • The Specter Gekikou Senki Wonder Ride Book is the first Legend Rider Wonder Ride Book to be based on a Secondary Rider. In this case, the Wonder Ride Book is based on Kamen Rider Specter.

  • The Decade Sekai Ryokouki Neo and Specter Gekikou Senki Wonder Ride Books are the only Legend Rider Books to show the respective Riders' final forms on the Transformation Page, with the latter being the first one to do so that is not a variant of another existing Wonder Ride Book. This is unlike the main Legend Rider Wonder Ride Books, which would still show the Legend Rider's base form on the Transformation Page even if the corresponding sword weapon shown belongs to a different form.
  • Unlike the Elemental Dragon Wonder Ride Book, the Wonder Almighty Wonder Ride Book opens to its Transformation Page in the Swordriver rather than opening to the Story Page.
  • The Super Hero Senki Wonder Ride Book's transformation standby is a combination of the Kaenken Rekka and GeartlingerIcon-crosswiki's transformation standbys.
