Icon-ghostThis article is about a theme in Kamen Rider Ghost.

"We think, therefore we are") is an opening theme (OP) from Kamen Rider Ghost. It was performed by Kishidan. [1] It was also used as a stand-in for an insert theme in episodes 33 and 38, and was played at the end of episode 49 instead of the beginning.

The Album's first edition release included a DX original design Ghost Eyecon called the Special Ghost Eyecon (スペシャルゴースト眼魂, Supesharu Gōsuto Aikon) and two Ganbarizing cards.[2]

  • Lyrics/Composer = Show Ayanocozey
  • Arranger = Takeshi Kiuchi, (Nippon Columbia Version: Funta7)
  • Singer = Kishidan, (Nippon Columbia Version: Icarus Watanabe)

A revised version of the song covered by Kamen Rider Girls was released on 'Heisei Kamen Rider 20 Commemoriation Best' album on May 2019.

Namida ga afureru no wa kimi ga soba de hohoemu kara

Omoi no mama ni

My tears are overflowing, because you are by my side, smiling
I get the urge to hold you tight, because you are right next to me.

I'll never know why I was born
If all I do is think about it
So I'll live. I'll fire up my soul and survive
And find the reason someday

To the comrades I met in this same era!
We think, therefore we are
Let's start a new page of history, my friends!
We think, therefore we are
Everyone has only one chance to live
Live freely!

My heart is shaking, because I'm looking at you so intensely.
My life is shining out an overflowing power!

People will die, they will surely die.
Someday you as well as I will die.
So at the very least,
In the time we have to live,
Let us spend our lives together.

(Because I'll protect you!)

To the comrades I met in this same era!
We think, therefore we are
Let's start a new page of history, my friends!
We think, therefore we are

To the comrades who draw breath in this era!
We think, therefore we are
O flowers, O birds, O wind, O moon, O fickle life!
We think, therefore we are
Everyone has only one chance to live
Live freely!

Notes[]

  • The CD cover for this song features the five members of Kishidan dressed similarly to five of Ghost's and Specter's forms:
  • It is the first and only opening theme in Heisei Kamen Rider Series Phase 2 history to not include English words in the title or lyrics.
  • Just like the Ghost Eyecons being based on historical people from the past, this song's title was based on the René Descartes' famous saying, "Cogito ergo sum" (lit. I think, therefore I am). However, the "I" (, Ware) in the quote changes into "We" (我ら, Warera).
  • This song is the first Heisei-era opening theme since Ryuki's Alive A life to not have been written by Shoko Fujibayashi. This song is also the first to have been written by the singer himself.
  • During the opening, 11 of the 15 great people based on the Eyecons Takeru is tasked to gather, appear in the background as animated silhouettes.
