The Virtual Image Projection Unit (バーチャル映像投影部, Bācharu Eizō Tōei-bu), or Virtual Image Projector (虚像投影装置, Kyozō Tōei Sōchi), is a holographic projector device which is located in the front buckle of the ZX Belt. The device allows Ryo Murasame to disguise himself or create holographic illusions of various types for diversionary tactics or for infiltration.
ZX uses the device to confuse his opponent by creating illusionary copies of himself.
Originally, the Virtual Image Projection Unit was relegated to expanded universe and non-canon media such as the Kamen Rider SD OVA and manga such as Kamen Rider Spirits.
ZX disguised as "Kurayami Taishi"
However, the device received its first in-series use in Heisei Rider vs. Showa Rider: Kamen Rider Taisen feat. Super Sentai when Ryo used it to disguise himself as Kurayami Taishi to infiltrate Badan.

- The Virtual Image Projection Unit is similar to the Decadriver as it too can create disguises or create objects (mainly other Kamen Riders). The key difference seems to be that Decade's projections are made of hard light as they can inflict damage on an opponent and appear to be solid until deactivated or the Decadriver is damaged.
