The Transformation Belt Vail Driver (変身ベルトベイルドライバー, Henshin Beruto Beiru Doraibā) is the transformation device used by Kamen Rider Vail. It was created by Masumi Karizaki and was the first device to use Vistamps for transformation into a Kamen Rider.
Masumi used the Vail Driver as the basis for its successor, the Demons Driver. His son, George Karizaki, later remodels the Vail Driver into the Destream Driver.
Overview[]
The Vail Driver functions by using the demon Vail as its core. As a result, it places a high burden on the user and eats away at their life, making the requirements for compatibility strict. The only solution to this problem that Masumi Karizaki found was to infuse the user with Giff's cells, which have high regenerative abilities.
Design[]
The Vail Driver is composed of the following parts:
- Archi Ohinjector (アーキオーインジェクター, Ākiōinjekutā): The stamping-type information input device. It receives the power of various species of organisms by stamping the special information transmission code of the Vistamp, known as the Vistamp Code (バイスタンプコード, Baisutanpu Kōdo).
- Vistamp Pad (バイスタンプパッド, Baisutanpu Paddo): The Genome approval device. As a preliminary step to the Archi Ohinjector, the Vistamp is approved by stamping here. Only when the stamping is approved does it switch to a standby state, making Archi Ohinjector input possible.
- Vail Driver Body (ベイルドライバーボディ, Beiru Doraibā Bodi): The exterior of Vail Driver. It is made of cemented carbide with Astmetalum (アストメタルム, Asutometarumu), a rare metal harvested from extremely rare meteorites, as the main material, and protects the internal delicate equipment from any impact.
- Archi Genomuscle (アーキゲノマッスル, Ākigenomassuru): The artificial muscles of the Vail Driver. By receiving a supply of Vailing Genome Power (ベイリングゲノムパワー, Beiruingu Genomu Pawā), which has tremendous energy, it has the special nature of drawing out power to the utmost limit and rapidly multiplying at the time of transformation to wrap around the whole body of the user.
- Vailing Knock (ベイリングノック, Beiruingu Nokku): The forced operation device of the demon Vail. Vail is able to be forcibly operated by strongly pushing the Vailing Knock on both sides at the same time. This functions as a starting point for a variety of attacks. For example, pressing them once after a Vistamp is stamped on the Archi Ohinjector will charge energy, enabling the finishing move Vailing Impact (ベイリングインパクト, Beiringu Inpakuto) to be carried out.
- Vailing Ladder (ベイリングラダー, Beiruingu Radā): A band that deploys when the Driver is equipped and is fixed to the user's waist, forming a chain field that prevents the power of the animal species from leaking out.
- Vistamp Holder (バイスタンプホルダー, Baisutanpu Horudā): Holders for carrying Vistamps. They are placed on the left and right sides of the Vail Driver and a Vistamp can be set in each.
Functionality[]
Transformation[]
To transform, a Vistamp is activated by pressing its Activate Knock before being stamped onto the the Vail Driver's Vistamp Pad. The Vistamp is then pressed on the Archi Ohinjector to initiate the transformation. Red energy waves are produced from the Driver as an energy construct of the animal the Vistamp is based on appears from the screen. Vail then appears in the form of a shadowy mass above the user and engulfs both animal construct and user, with Vail's red eyes lying on top of the user's face. The mass disperses and reveals the Rider form, with the horn on the head raising to complete the transformation.
When the user transforms without Vail, the shadowy mass is absent and the animal construct transforms into the Rider's armor before attaching to the user's body.
Demon Release[]
By pressing both Vailing Knocks, the demon Vail can be released from the Vail Driver.
Finisher[]
- Main article: Finisher (Revice)
To initiate the Vail Driver's standard finisher, the Vailing Impact (ベイリングインパクト, Beiringu Inpakuto), the user presses a Vistamp onto the screen before pressing both Vailing Knocks. After being separated from the demon Vail, Kamen Rider Vail was able to perform the Vailing Nova (ベイリングノヴァ, Beiringu Novā) finisher in the same way.
Users (chronological order)[]
User | Kamen Rider | Episode Obtained | Description |
Junpei Shiranami/Genta Igarashi | Kamen Rider Vail | Revice Legacy: Kamen Rider Vail | After being infused with the cells of Giff by NOAH in order to save his life, Junpei Shiranami is given the Vail Driver along with the Kabuto Vistamp and forced to transform into Kamen Rider Vail. |
Vail | Revice Legacy: Kamen Rider Vail | By possessing Genta's body, Vail is able to transform both of them into Kamen Rider Vail. |

Behind the Scenes[]
Portrayal[]
The voice of Vail Driver is provided by Kenjiro Tsuda (津田 健次郎, Tsuda Kenjirō), who also voices both Vail and the Demons Driver. Tsuda previously voiced Redyue in Kamen Rider Gaim and Kasshine in Kamen Rider Zi-O.
Conception[]
The Vail Driver is designed by Tsuyoshi Ito. During pre-production, the working title of Vail Driver is Proto Demons Driver (プロトデモンズドライバー, Puroto Demonzu Doraibā).[1]
Notes[]
- The Vail Driver is a repainted and retooled version of the Demons Driver.
- Reversing the pattern of the Demons Driver, the primary voice of the Vail Driver's transformation announcements speaks in Japanese while the secondary voice is in English.
- Like the Demons Driver, the Vail Driver does not physically hold the Vistamp that was used to transform. Afterwards, the user stores the Vistamp in a Vistamp Holder.
- The Vail Driver uses the same categorization for generic announcements as the Demons Driver:
- Extra: Barid Rex, Volcano, Rolling, Holy Wing, Thunder Gale, Giffard Rex N, Giffard Rex S, Trooper Spider, Trooper Kuwagata, Fifty Gale
- Another: Toysaurus (unique animation), Twin Chimera, Tri Chimera, Juuga
- Alongside the Destream Driver, Revice's main 10 Vistamps, along with the Bat, Cobra, and Spider Vistamps, have slightly different representations of the animals on the Driver's display than the Demons Driver.
- The DX Vail Driver is required to have the Archi Ohinjector (the screen of the driver) to be pressed down while turning it on, resulting in the Vail Driver's sounds. Otherwise, turning the driver on regularly will result in the Destream Driver's sounds.
