The Twentieth Birthday (２０歳の誕生日, Hatachi no Tanjōbi) is the forty-fifth episode of Kamen Rider Ryuki.

Synopsis

• Shinji realises that Yui is fading but doesn't believe it at first. However, Later, Yui realises it herself and begins to panic.
• ORE Journal closes up due to the failure of the Mirror Monster Picture
• Reiko orders Shimada & Megumi to spy on Kitaoka
• Asakura tells Tojo that he was really the on that killed Mitsuru.
• One of the Mirror Monsters begins to Multiply creating thousands of them.

Plot

At the old Kanzaki household, Shiro senses the death of Mitsuru and remembers back to when he and Yui were Young.

Ren returns to the Cafe from somewhere to a frustrated Shinji reading the Newspaper. The newspaper contains an article about Mitsuru missing. Ren tries to talks Shinji out of feeling sorry for Mitsuru but it is unsuccessful. Ren reveals that he has been looking at the University and at Mitsuru's house for Tojo. However Tojo isn't at either, making Ren think that he may start attacking Yui again. Ren suggests defeating him to keep Yui safe but Shinji disagrees with killing him. Yui & her grandmother return from Christmas Shopping and Shinji learns that Yui will turn 20 in a month. As Yui goes back out to get another bag, Shinji realises that her hand is fading but doesn't believe his own eyes.

The police find Asakura again but he quickly knocks an officer out. Tojo appears in a car and helps Asakura escape. When asked why, Tojo uses them being fellow riders as an excuse. Asakura asks him if he'll run away again as he has done in their last two battles but Tojo says that he won't because he has gotten stronger. He claims to have killed Mitsuru even though Asakura knows that he was responsible for dealing the final blow. However, Asakura says nothing

Chief Editor appears at the cafe with suitcases. He tells Shinji that ORE Journal has been seized because it can't pay anything due to the failure of the monster photo campaign. He however has a back-up plan to use the cafe and a laptop to continue ORE Journal.

Kitaoka meanwhile is stuck with Shimada & Megumi as secretaries. He tells Goro to consider him strange Christmas Ornaments. Back at the Cafe, the Chief is already beginning to get on Grandmother's nerves.

Ren gets a call from Yui to quickly come and pick her up. She tells him that she is beginning to fade. She runs further down a tunnel and see's a small child in one of the mirrors. She remembers back to her childhood when the windows exploded. She remembers a girl telling her that she will disappear on her 20th birthday. Ren & Shinji turn up and help her but she begins to fade even faster. But as soon as it started, it stops suddenly.

Tojo stops the car under a bridge and tries to wake Asakura up. Asakura finally tells Tojo that he was the one that killed Mitsuru, to the surprise of Tojo. Tojo goes into a panicked frenzy because he believed that Mitsuru was one that he needed to kill to become a hero.

Ren and Shinji take Yui to a stadium where they try and make her feel better. She remembers the young girl again and tells them that she will disappear on her birthday. She reminisces about her childhood and tells them that she drew pictures of monsters. Ren & Shinji sense some monsters and go to fight them. They manage to stop them from attacking the kids. Ren tells Shinji that Yui is probably right. Ren transforms and enters Mirror World with Ryuki following closely behind them. Shinji activates his Survival Card but Ren warns him to not waste too much power. The knock over the 3 monsters.

Kitaoka also drives off to go and fight the monsters. It appears that Shimada and Megumi are spying on Kitaoka on Reiko's Request and are not just his secretaries. Before they can follow him, Goro stops them.

Shinji & Ren manage to destroy the monsters easily. Meanwhile Yui starts to fade again and begins to panic.

Kitaoka kills 7 of the same monster That Ren & Shinji are fighting with a Final Vent. He is nearly attacked by Tojo from behind but is able to stop him. He asks Kitaoka if you only kill someone when you use a finisher. He also tells him that he was supposed to be the one to kill Mitsuru. Kitaoka said that he used to think that being Asakura or Tojo would be best for winning the Rider War. However he doesn't think this anymore.

Ren and Shinji return to the Stadium but can't find Yui. They run down a tunnel, see Yui and chase her. Her fading starts up again and she collapses in the middle of the road in the path of an oncoming truck. Just before the truck hits her, Odin appears out of nowhere and pushes the truck off. Shiro appears and realises that Yui is fading. He tells her that to stop her from disappearing is the point of his existence. He puts his hand on hers and stops the fading completely.

The monsters in Mirror World continue to multiply amassing huge numbers at once.
