This article is about a picture book in Kamen Rider Gotchard. |
The Great Path of Alchemy (錬金術の大いなる道, Renkinjutsu no Ōinaru Michi)[1] is a fictional picture book within the universe of Kamen Rider Gotchard.
Description[]
The demon kidnapped children, killed livestock, and plunged the world into darkness. At that moment, an alchemist stood up. He held up a glowing flask and transmuted a sun. In an instant, a warm light enveloped the darkness and vanquished the demon. He left without even saying his name, and was soon known as the "Daybreak Alchemist".[2]
Overview[]
120 years prior, the legendary figure known as the "Alchemist of Daybreak" (暁の錬金術師, Akatsuki no Renkinjutsu-shi) defeated a dark demon and saved the world. The figure referred to himself as "Kamen Rider", which would become a courtesy name given to distinguished members of the Alchemys Union.
One chapter of the said book depicts the Alchemist receiving a stalk of golden colored flowers from his Grasshopper companion, amidst of a golden flower field. Rinne Kudo narrates that the flower could be ground into spice and brings happiness to people who eat the food infused by it.
History[]
The picture book was written and illustrated based on a climatic battle between Kamen Rider Gotchard Daybreak and the Dark King, both whom had arrived from over a century in the future. During the events of Kamen Rider Gotchard: The Future Daybreak, after Gotchard and Gotchard Daybreak defeated the Dark King for the first time, it had enraged him to the point where he wished to time travel back to before the "Kamen Rider" name was ever uttered in an attempt to erase Gotchard from history. Gotchard Daybreak used the power of Daybreak Timelord to follow the Dark King back, resulting in an epic battle between the two where Gotchard Daybreak emerged victorious.
During that era, Gotchard Daybreak was given the name the "Alchemist of Daybreak". However as he referred to himself as the "Kamen Rider", out of respect, the Alchemys Union would honor his name by granting the courtesy name "Kamen Rider" to admirable figures in alchemy society who become warriors through complete harmonious reconstruction with two chemies.
Notes[]
- The Daybreak Alchemist of the past received the courtesy name "Kamen Rider" from his younger self in the future where he originates, but his younger self received his name from the Daybreak Alchemist of the past, who received it from his younger self, and so on. This example is known as a bootstrap paradox, in which that the origin of an event, whenever that be an action, a certain piece of information, an object, or a person is impossible to determine and pinpoint as a result of a "causality loop".
