This article is about a character in Kamen Rider Revice. |
Tasuke Ushijima (牛島 太助, Ushijima Tasuke) was a high-ranking member of Weekend alongside his assigned "son" and "wife", Hikaru Ushijima and Kimiko Ushijima.
History[]
Background[]
Tasuke Ushijima was a member of Weekend and Masumi Karizaki's right-hand man. In the past, he had a wife and daughter who were said to be killed by the Deadmans. He was tasked to monitor the Igarashi family with fellow members Kimiko and Hikaru. The three posed as a family and regulars of the Happy Spa.
The Deadmans Crisis[]
Tasuke and his family attended Daiji's appointment ceremony at Fenix with the Igarashis, where the event gets attacked by the Deadmans. While the Giff Junior started to attack people, the Ushijimas and Shozo Irabu hid behind to witness Ikki Igarashi's first transformation into a Kamen Rider.
When the Igarashis went on a family vacation to a ryoukan inn, the Ushijimas appeared to coincidentally be there as well. Offscreen, however, Tasuke starts to eavesdrop on them and planting wired bugs in the Igarashis' rooms, creating a disturbing atmosphere shows a sign that the Ushijimas are not just an ordinary family. When Sakura ran away from home, she was welcome into the Ushijima home, but she felt disturbed by the emptiness inside the residence.
Welcome to Weekend[]
One night, the Ushijimas invited Sakura to their home. Although she was suddenly attacked, Sakura ran into the basement and entered the Weekend base. Tasuke and his family introduced to her about their organization and their intent to fight against Fenix. In his capacity as a member of Weekend, he salvaged the discarded Libera Driver and anonymously mailed it to Sakura, who used it to fight as Kamen Rider Jeanne.
The Ushijimas sought to recruit Sakura to Weekend in an upcoming battle against Fenix due to their possession over Giff's coffin. While Sakura herself was unsure to join Weekend, the corruption in Fenix grew apparent after Hiromi Kadota's disappearance and the revelation regarding Genta Igarashi's past. It would also be revealed that Hikaru and Kimiko aren't his real family and were just undercover. Due to the threat of Giff becoming rampant, Sakura would agree to join Weekend.
War on Fenix[]
In the days preceding Weekend's battle against Giff, Tasuke would remain as Masumi's right-hand man to gather more members to their cause. Weekend was able to recruit the reformed Deadmans executives Hana Natsuki and Go Tamaki as their latest operatives. After Giff decimated the majority of Fenix's forces during Hideo Akaishi's staged conference, Weekend began to deploy above ground. Hikaru would also join the front lines as Kamen Rider Over Demons, earning Tasuke's praise despite intially denying his request.
As the organization went public, Weekend sought to thwart Fenix's attempts to have humanity surrender to Giff. During the demon invasion, Tasuke assumed the role as battle commander and inspired the members and refugees to fight back. However, things took a tragic turn after Kimiko was killed in action, causing Hikaru to resent Tasuke for giving the order to abandon her. Tasuke would later mourn Kimiko's death, evidenced by the scattered papers around the Weekend equipment.
Final Moments & Death[]
When a large army of True Gifftarians and Giff Juniors arrived at the Weekend shelter, the Kamen Riders were deployed to defend. However, Hideo Akaishi would arrive and transformed into a Giffdemos. Tasuke ordered the heroes to withdraw and escort the civilians to safety. As Hikaru ignores Tasuke's order to continue fighting Akaishi, the latter gained the upperhand until Tasuke took the blow meant for Hikaru. After Hikaru escaped, Akaishi learns from Tasuke during his dying moments that his original family was killed by the Deadmans, yet Tasuke himself accepted Hikaru as his real son.
Personality[]
Initially, Tasuke and the rest of the Ushijima family acted like a typical family, though their mannerisms only became much more mysterious upon the revelation that they weren't a normal family, but rather members of a secret resistance. Since then, his manner of speech has become much more straight-to-the-point and stern, often directing the younger members of the resistance in Masumi's place.
Although he was more aware than Hikaru that the Ushijima family were nothing but fake, Tasuke was implied to have somewhat enjoyed having both Kimiko and Hikaru as his wife and son, as he briefly hesitated to give out the evacuation order despite Hikaru's pleas to save Kimiko. This is further shown through him saving Hikaru from Akaishi's lethal blow and taking it himself instead.
