Takeshi Sasaki (佐々木 剛 Sasaki Takeshi) played Hayato Ichimonji/Kamen Rider 2 in the original Kamen Rider series. His character was a created as a replacement for Takeshi Hongo/Kamen Rider 1, after Hiroshi Fujioka, who did his own stunts as Kamen Rider 1, shattered his leg in a motorcycle stunt gone wrong. Eventually, Hiroshi recovered and returned to the show, joining Takeshi as the Double Riders.

After the conclusion of the original series, Takeshi reprised his role in the next, Kamen Rider V3, and later series as well. In recent crossover movies, early Riders are voiced by new actors, with Kamen Rider 2 now being voiced by Takahiro Fujimoto. However, in 2011, Takeshi returned to voice Kamen Rider 2 in the 40th-anniversary movie of the Kamen Rider Series, OOO, Den-O, All Riders: Let's Go Kamen Riders, alongside Hiroshi Fujioka and Hiroshi Miyauchi, who played Kamen Rider V3.

He is not to be confused with the equipment voice from Kamen Rider Blade; a different man with the same name who plays that role.

In the late 1980s, it was revealed on Takeshi Kitano's expose show, UNBELIEVABLE, Takeshi Sasaki had been horrifically burned in a house fire while attempting to escort people to safety. The resulting injury had burned over 60% of his body, with extensive damage to his face. The resulting surgeries in an attempt to restore his face led Takeshi into emotional and financial ruin, forcing him to resort to taking odd jobs to afford the procedures due to his ongoing refusal to accept charity. The experience left Takeshi socially withdrawn, causing him to disappear from the public eye for many years.

Takeshi eventually managed to restore his finances and confidence through the help of his close friend and YOU'RE FISH co-star Shoji Ishibashi. This lead to his eventual return to the Kamen Rider series, although he has only reprised the role in voice-form to date.
