Taiko no Tatsujin (太鼓の達人 lit. Taiko Drum Master) is a video game based on the original game released by Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc., which serves as the basis for the Taiko no Tatsujin Gashat.

History[]

The Taiko no Tatsujin Gashat was the fourth and last of the Bandai Namco Gashats carried by the revived "Dr. Pac-Man". Having given the first three to the doctor Kamen Riders, "Dr. Pac-Man" presented this last Gashat after his mask was taken off by Kamen Rider Genm. [Part. II: Legend Gamer Stage] In reality, rather than the late Michihiko Zaizen, this "Dr. Pac-Man" was actually Parado, who at that time was infact working with Genm in a scheme which saw him carrying the Bandai Namco Gashats, evidently intending to collect their data, while Dan worked on the legend Rider Gashats which he compiled into Kamen Rider Battle: Ganbarizing.

Catching up with Ex-Aid as he was confronted by a manifestation of Kamen Rider Hibiki from the Ganbarizing Game Area, "Dr. Pac-Man" provided him with Taiko no Tatsujin. Recognizing it as the perfect counter to Hibiki's Ongekibou Rekka, Ex-Aid inserted the Gashat into his Kimewaza Slot Holder, performing the Critical Strike which armed him with a pair of taiko sticks with which he repelled Hibiki's fireballs by matching his rhythm before deflecting their combined firepower back at him, besting Hibiki and clearing the game. His task completed, "Dr. Pac-Man" recovered the four Bandai Namco Gashats as well as the Ganbarizing Gashat from the doctor Riders before returning with Genm to his base, where they were added to Dan's assembly of seventeen Heisei Rider Gashats as he noted that everything was proceeding according to plan. Notes[]

  • Due to the business relationship between Toei and Bandai-Namco, theme songs from the Kamen Rider franchise have been featured in several Taiko no Tatsujin games. Of particular note, Ex-Aid's theme song "EXCITE" was added to the game with the Red Ver. Update in July 2016.
  • As Ex-Aid only used it in the Kimewaza Slot Holder, Taiko no Tatsujin is the only Bandai Namco Gashat whose Gamer is not shown.
  • Though the Taiko no Tatsujin Gashat's Level has not been officially identified, the Bandai Namco Gamers are seen to be a match for the criteria of Level 3.
  • Ex-Aid countering Hibiki with this Gashat may be a nod to the fact that the PlayStation 2 Kamen Rider Hibiki game was compatible with the Taiko no Tatsujin drum peripheral.
