Subaru Kimura (木村 昴,Kimura Subaru) is a popular voice actor and Ikki Igarashi's former soccer coach. He was also the contract holder of the Rafflesia Deadman.
Subaru watches in terror as Ikki accidentally injures Koji.
Subaru was once a soccer coach at Kitase High School and mentored students such as Ikki and Koji Ikeda. One day during practice that he organized, Ikki had accidentally severely injured Koji and sent him to the hospital. Subaru had admitted that this event made him feel responsible for robbing two young men of their futures after he found out that both had quit soccer.
Subaru would later become a popular voice actor and attend the Class of 2018 reunion. However as he discovered that Ikki did not remember the accident, he made a contract with the Rafflesia Deadman and had it attack Ikki to induce him into a walking down memory lane. After Ikki woke up, he admitted to Ikki everything and asked him to defeat the Rafflesia Deadman, who had gotten stronger since he first summoned it. After giving up a voice acting session for Koji, Subaru was taken in by a Fenix soldier.
Later, Subaru returned to coaching Ikki.
Personality[]
Subaru's public personality can be described as lavish to which stems from his successful career as a voice actor. Privately, he continuously holds an immense love for soccer to which he had also retired from due to regret of having two of his students no longer playing today. It was due to this that he formed a contract with a Deadman to bring his two students back to their senses.
Unlike the previous contract holders, Subaru willingly returns the Proto Vistamp, as he had no intentions on actually harming anyone but rather wanted Ikki to remember a past memory the latter forgot about.

Subaru is portrayed by the actor of the same name, who also voices Vice in the series. This fact is acknowledged by Vice when he compliments Subaru non-stop for no apparent reason.

Subaru is the first contract holder to willingly return the Proto Vistamp before the Deadman is destroyed, as most of the other holders returned (forcibly or otherwise) their Proto Vistamps once their Deadman was destroyed.
Subaru is the second character to be played by the actor of the same name, the honor of the first character played by the same actor goes to Shinya Owada.
