Spider (スパイダー, Supaidā) is a field captain in the Shocker ranks. He is responsible for covert assassination missions, and is behind several "mysterious" deaths prior to and during the course of the film.
History[]
His human identity is Taichi Yamanaka (山中 太一, Yamanaka Taichi), a private taxi driver. He has an extraordinary love for his taxi, so anyone who pollutes a taxi is mercilessly killed. His main task is to assassinate those who are against Shocker, but he also supervises Hongo (Hopper 1), who was a newcomer cyborg, and invites Haruhiko Mitamura and others to the organization. He is eventually destroyed by Kamen Rider 1's Rider Kick.

Spider
Spider is a cyborg with the ability of spider. After transforms by wearing a special reinforced suit and a mask, he can crawl freely around walls and trees, and restrain the opponent with a highly sticky thread released from his body.

Portrayal[]
The Spider was portrayed by Itsuji Itao (板尾 創路, Itao Itsuji), who would later on go on portray Ren Aoi/Kamen Rider Fifteen in Heisei Rider vs. Showa Rider: Kamen Rider Taisen feat. Super Sentai. His suit actor was Akira Ohashi (大橋 明, Ōhashi Akira)[2].
Basis[]
Spider was based on Man Spider, who was the first ever kaijin to fight Kamen Rider in the original series.
Notes[]
- Spider's mask design bears a resemblance to that of the Double Riders, though with much smaller eyes. The lower portion of his mask also features the design of an open jaw as opposed to the Riders' "closed-jaw" design.
