Solitary is the first chapter of Shin Kamen Rider Spirits and the first story of the first tankobon of the revived series. It is the first chapter of a five part special story which details the secret origin of Kamen Rider 2, which was never fully elaborated on in the TV series.
Synopsis[]
A photojournalist named Hayato Ichimonji is investigating Shocker and stumbles onto the story of the century, as he discovers the true identity of Kamen Rider!
But learning this secret and his refusal to heed the warnings of the hero to stay away from Shocker leads Hayato Ichimonji down a path that will change his life forever!

- This is the first story printed for Monthly Shonen Magazine after the closure of Magazine Z. The manga went on a eight month hiatus with the last story from Kamen Rider Spirits being published in April of 2009.
- Dr. Shinigami refers to the second Rider conversion project as "The Next", a reference to the 2007 film of the same name.
