Ikunori Araki (荒木 生徳, Araki Ikunori), better known by his stage name Shigeru Araki (荒木 茂, Araki Shigeru, alternatively written as 荒木 しげる) was a Japanese actor who portrayed Shigeru Jo/Kamen Rider Stronger in Kamen Rider Stronger. He reprised the role in Kamen Rider (Skyrider).

Personal Life[]
- Araki was originally given the offer of either playing Stronger or Tsuyoshi Kaijo/Akarenger in the other major 1975 Toei Tokusatsu production, Himitsu Sentai Gorenger, which would become the first Super Sentai series. Araki ultimately went with Stronger due to the established nature of the Kamen Rider franchise at the time. The role of Kaijo ultimately went to Naoya Makoto.
- In 1975, Araki visited a child with leukemia in the Kamen Rider Stronger suit, with the mindset that the child would immediately recognize his voice from watching the show.[2]
Notes[]
- Araki's passing makes him the first lead Kamen Rider star to do so. Many other Kamen Rider actors, including Hiroshi Fujioka and Ryo Hayami gave their condolences to Araki and his family.
