"So whatever happens Neon, make sure you find your own happiness as well."
―Sae before retiring from the DGP.[src]

Sae Ganaha (我那覇 冴, Ganaha Sae) is an athlete who participated in the Desire Grand Prix as Kamen Rider Lopo (仮面ライダーロポ, Kamen Raidā Ropo).

History

Background

Sae Ganaha was born the first of three children to her parents. She was a natural-born athlete and her family run a Okinawan-style restaurant. However the restaurant was forced to close following her father's death, causing Sae to give up athletics in order to financially support her family. She then joined the Desire Grand Prix and wished for athleticism that doesn't decline with age so that she could pursue an athletic career again.

At some point, she was a finalist from a previous Desire Grand Prix season, having competed against Ace Ukiyo.

Divergence Arc

Sae was invited to return to the Desire Grand Prix, reuniting with Ace while meeting Neon Kurama, Keiwa Sakurai and Daichi Isuzu. Her wish remained the same as before, an ageless athletic body. She grew close to Neon after learning of her wish for true love. After discovering that Neon was in fact the DezaStar yet did not compromise her morals that ultimately saved Sae's family, Sae ultimately opted to eliminate herself from the game for Neon.

Sae as a drifter

Sometime after Ace had taken over the Desire Grand Prix and become its new administrator, Sae was revived with her memories restored. During the World Destruction Game, she was brought to a world were she became a drifter. She encountered Ace of Luck and Tsumuri.

Kamen Rider: Reiwa's Gorgeous Sports Day

Personality

Sae is driven and independent, being clear-headed about mission objectives and knowing what is required to succeed. Unlike other lesser-experienced players, Sae is more seasoned and competent. Though she exudes a cold and standoffish attitude, as well as being aggressive when wronged, Sae is friendly with Neon and gets along with her upon interacting, politely returning her greeting towards her upon meeting her for the first time, and ends up sacrificing her chance for her wish to let Neon continue in the game.

Due to her unseen experience in her athletic career, she's also a cynical person who is suspicious of people's motivations for doing good, such as suspecting Keiwa trying to poison his competitors with laxative when he cooks them breakfast, making a rule for herself to never eat a food prepared by others before competition. Her belief also helps her to quickly throw the other Riders under the bus when she gets the chance, such as quickly jumping into Daichi's schemes to frame Keiwa. However, she seemingly has grown out a bit from this belief, after learning Neon's motivations to save her as well as her family despite being the actual Dezastar.

Being the eldest sibling of three, she is determined to support her family through her athletic career, hence why she wishes to maintain her physique and strength even past her youth. She loves her family deeply and was affected when her father died and the family restaurant closed down.

Abilities

  • Peak Human Condition: Sae's training as an athlete has made her an adept fighter in the DGP, proving to be much faster and more agile than any of the other Riders, running and leaping over large distances in a short amount of time. Sae is also surprisingly strong for a human of her frame size, being able to single-handedly toss an armchair across the entire Desire Lounge while Keiwa was still sitting in it.
  • Skilled Archer: to be added.

Behind the Scenes

Portrayal

Sae Ganaha is portrayed by Rina Onuki (小貫 莉奈, Onuki Rina). As Kamen Rider Lopo, her suit actress is Suzuka Usami (宇佐見 紗風, Usami Suzuka) in episode 17 and Hikaru Okada (岡田 ひかる, Okada Hikaru) from episode 18 onwards.

Etymology

  • Sae Ganaha's given name Sae () translates to "skillfulness" or "clarity".
  • Lopo's name originates from the Spanish and Portuguese word for wolf, lobo.

Notes

  • Similar to Sae, Onuki has an athletic background, having been playing basketball for over a decade.
  • Lopo is the first non-main Rider in Geats since Shirowe to have a unique helmet, rather than retooling/repainting the base of a pre-existing helmet.
    • Her helmet would later be retooled for Kamen Rider Groovy and Kamen Rider Bucchii.
    • Prior to her introduction, several Kamen Riders sharing her helmet design made cameos through the DGP Leaderboard via their ID Core symbols.
