Ryu Mukai (向井 リュウ, Mukai Ryū) was the late friend of Nozomu Otani who transformed into the first Kamen Rider Chimera (仮面ライダーキマイラ, Kamen Raidā Kimaira).
History[]

Ryu Mukai wished to join Fenix in order to become a hero. However, before he could do so, the organization was dissolved following the battle against Giff and Hideo Akaishi. As a result, he instead agreed to participate in Masato Sotoumi's trial of an experimental new drug that parts of one's genes in order to strengthen the body. He travels to the designated meeting place, where five other volunteers are waiting. Sotoumi then arrives along with Minami, Hakim, and Tony. The doctor reveals to the participants that the "drug" is actually the Chimera Driver, and the test is to see who can become a Kamen Rider. A man named Shinta is the first to volunteer, and takes the Chimera Driver and Twin Chimera Vistamp from Minami. He attempts to transform, but instead experiences painful shocks. Tony then removes the Driver and gives it back to Minami before he and Hakim drag the man away. Sotoumi announces that the trial is cancelled, but Mukai asks for a chance as well. The doctor agrees, and Minami hands the Driver and Vistamp to Mukai, who successfully transforms into Kamen Rider Chimera.

When the Otani family is attacked by Shinta, Mukai appears and pushes him away. He recognizes the man, who then transforms into a demon as a result of failing to use the Chimera Driver. Mukai briefly fends off the demon before transforming into Kamen Rider Chimera. In the ensuing fight, the demon is quickly destroyed by Chimera. After the battle, he goes to confront Soutomi about Shinta's transformation. Sotoumi apologizes and says that it shouldn't happen to him, but Mukai says that he won't work with him anymore and leaves with the Chimera Driver.
Later, Mukai appears to fight off Tony and Hakim when the men attack the Otani family. Azuma then asks Mukai to hand over the Chimera Driver, leading him to realize that the attack was meant to lure him. Azuma attacks Mukai, and the two fight before Mukai transforms into Kamen Rider Chimera. Despite this, Azuma is still able to fight evenly with him and holds Chimera so that Minami can shoot him with a rifle, cancelling his transformation. Azuma takes the Chimera Driver from Mukai while the Twin Chimera Vistamp is picked up by Nozomu. After having Chic install one of Giff's eyes into the Chimera Driver, Azuma uses it to transform into Kamen Rider Daimon. Soon after, Mukai transforms into a strange demon as a side effect of using the Chimera Driver. In the resulting battle, Mukai is destroyed by Daimon, with the explosion also fatally injuring Kousei Otani and Kazumi Otani.
Personality[]
Ryu Mukai is a young man with a strong sense of justice who dreams of becoming a hero. After witnessing Shinta transform into a demon as a result of Masato Sotoumi's trial of the Chimera Driver, Ryu became enraged at the doctor and refuses to cooperate with him any longer.
Abilities[]
- Skilled Combatant: As a result of regularly training, Ryu is skilled at hand-to-hand combat even while untransformed. He was able to fight off Tony and Hakim at the same time, as well as the demon that Shinta transformed into.
Weaknesses[]
- Chimera Driver: Ryu's repeated usage of the Chimera Driver eventually caused him to transform into a demon.

Kamen Rider Chimera (仮面ライダーキマイラ, Kamen Raidā Kimaira) accesses his crocodile and king crab-based primary form by using the Twin Chimera Vistamp in the Chimera Driver.
Chimera's statistics are roughly equivalent to Revi's Barid Rex Genome, with the exception of Chimera having a slightly higher jump height. As a result, he surpasses Live, Evil, Jeanne, and Demons in their standard forms, but is completely outclassed by Destream and Daimon. While Ryu was able to successfully transform into Chimera, repeated usage of the Chimera Driver eventually resulted in him becoming a demon.

- King Crab Edge (キングクラブエッジ, Kingu Kurabu Ejji): Chimera's forearm is covered with orange energy before he punches the opponent. A silver energy construct of a crab's claw appears beside Chimera and crushes the enemy as the punch makes contact.
- Crocodile Edge (クロコダイルエッジ, Kurokodairu Ejji): Chimera jumps into the air as his lower leg is covered in orange and yellow energy. The energy then forms into a construct of a crocodile's head before Chimera kicks the opponent, producing an orange shockwave upon impact and launching away the enemy. The opponent's upper body then explodes after a brief moment, with their lower body exploding as well shortly after.

Mukai was permanently transformed into a strange demon after prolonged usage of the Chimera Driver, gaining no control over his actions. He was later killed in this form by Kamen Rider Daimon.

Etymology[]
In terms of science, chimeras are organisms that contain multiples sets of DNA originating from either multiple zygotes fusing together or their tissue being transplanted onto each other. In terms of Greek mythology, the Chimera is a creature often depicted as a lion with a goat head on its back and a tail ending with a snake's head.
