Runaway Liner! Dark Rider! (暴走ライナー!暗黒ライダー!, Bōsō Rainā! Ankoku Raidā!) is the twelfth episode of Kamen Rider Gotchard. It features the debut of Kamen Rider Dread as well as the Exgotchalibur.

Synopsis[]

The spy for the Three Dark Sisters turned out to be Shiori Harima, an investigator from the Alchemy Union. Houtarou lashes out in anger at Shiori, who attacks the Chemy, but is tormented by her use of forbidden alchemy.

Then the Three Dark Sisters appear. When Atropos and her sisters get their hands on a mysterious driver, they say "now it's your turn" to the mysterious warrior known as Kamen Rider Dread, and begin a new terrifying experiment.

Just who is this dark destroyer, Dread?

Plot[]

Continuing on from the previous episode's cliffhanger, Shiori is confronted by both Houtaro and Sabimaru as she continues using forbidden alchemy, causing her own hands to wither away. She doesn't mind, however, and steals Houtaro's Hopper1, AppareBushido and Saboneedle cards as she threatens to turn them into Malgams. Sabimaru fails to intervene, but the Chemies have broken out of the card, per Houtaro's orders.

The others have reached the battleground as Minato wondered about Shiori's motives. It is revealed that she worshipped the Three Dark Sisters, doing this of her own volition. She cites how the academy failed to grasp true alchemy 10 years ago, much to the opposition of Houtaro, who doesn't understand much of her saying but is aware that she is hurting the Chemies. Frustrated, she choked Houtaro with her portal, raising him above ground. As normal, "infantiled" alchemy does pitiful damage to Shiori, the Three Dark Sisters enter the scene, killing Shiori due to her already fulfilling her job. A furious Houtaro questions Atropos's actions, but she only said that his emotions to her are humanity's biggest weakness: an over-reliance on superficial relationships, like friendship and comradery.

Clotho and Lachesis fight Minato and Sabimaru, and successfully hold Sabimaru hostage. Clotho then pulls out a mysterious driver, named Dreadriver, alongside a never-before-seen Chemy Card with a striking resemblance to Steamliner. Sabimaru, under the driver's influence, has no choice but to transform... into the Dark Destroyer, Kamen Rider Dread.

Supana, transformed into Valvarad, battles the new rider, but Dread's kick is strong enough to leave Supana unconscious. As Houtaro and the others look on with shock, Atropos provokes him. Houtaro responds with his resolve to turn Sabimaru back to normal, initiating a duel between the two Kamen Riders.

Dread then drains Pikohotaru, using its ability to temporarily blind Gotchard. Subsequently, with Bulletbaang's ability, Dread summons two guns and bombards Gotchard with bullets. In response, Gotchard uses his Gotcharge Gun to fight back. Rinne notices the similar fighting style between the two rider, and Minato asks if they have replicated the Chemy Card. Atropos reveals that the cards that Dread uses is Repli-Chemy Cards, which they have aplenty.

Gotchard transforms into NeedleHawk to attack the dark rider from above, but it has quickly drains Odorippa to make it agile, throwing Gotchard away like nothing. Subsequently, Gotchard tries to retaliate with AppareSkebows, but Dread is able to drain both AppareBushido and Skebows, putting up an even fight. Gotchard then changes into AntWrestler, Dread also drains WrestlerG, and is superior at hand-to-hand combat than Gotchard.

Dread has abused Sabimaru's extensive knowledge about Chemies to effectively combat Gotchard's Chemy combos. Through Issac, Sabimaru expresses his disapproval over the fact that his knowledge has been used in this manner, and begs that this nightmare be stopped. Renge attacks Atropos with her alchemy, but is threatened by Atropos. Across the field, Dread has successfully immobilized Gotchard with Venomdake and is now making his way towards Renge and Rinne. Meanwhile, Minato has his hand stabbed into a pole by Clotho, and Rinne is attacked by Lachesis, but is quickly protected by an injured Supana.

Houtaro looks at the direness of the fight and steels his resolve to protect everyone. With a Rider Punch, he attempts to defeat Dread, but it has consciously unmasks itself, revealing an agonized Sabimaru, paralyzing Houtaro. Dread then drains Gorillasensei, using its Blood Sacrifice finisher to knock Houtaro out of his Rider form. It then brutally punches Houtaro. As the sound of the punches becomes more and more intense, Renge tries to encourage Sabimaru not to lose himself to the dark forces, but it seems to be futile as Houtaro is still under Dread's barrage of attacks. Another attempt and the dark rider has stopped its punching spree, and Houtaro tries to wake Sabimaru up himself, making Dread unable to attack him. This effect is temporary, and Dread continues its way towards Houtaro.

Just as all hope seems lost, a light shines upon the field. It is UFO-X, giving Houtaro a white sword. This sword shows him visions of a strange form of Gotchard, just as Houtaro becomes Gotchard and remembers the sword's name: the Exgotchalibur. With his resolve becoming stronger than ever, the sword's color changes from white to red and blue. A strike from the sword is enough to make Dread lose its footing, and with the power of Raidenji, Houtaro is able to fend off 2 of the Three Dark Sisters. He tries to make Atropos pay, but all those punches have taken a heavy toll on Houtaro's health, rendering him unconscious. Minato orders a retreat, and Atropos comments on their futile efforts. Afar, Licht observes the battle, wondering if Houtaro is the one to handle a Level Number 10 Chemy.

In the Academy basement, Minato goes to report this situation to his higher-ups despite being aware of its pointlessness. Supana mocks a shell-shocked Houtaro and the others about their one-sided battle, saying that it is very much possible for one of them to die out there, just like the alchemists who have sacrificed themselves to protect the natural order. He also leaves the base. Houtaro notes how he felt great dread over his plausible death, but swears to bring everything back to normal.
