Rui Mitarai (御手洗るい, Mitarai Rui) is the main antagonist of Kamen Rider Saber Spin-off: Kamen Rider Sabela & Kamen Rider Durendal. He was a member of the Sword of Logos who was previously engaged to Reika Shindai, and transforms into the Amanojaku Megid (天邪鬼メギド, Amanojaku Megido).
History[]
Rui was born into the Mitarai clan, one of the most distinguished families of the Sword of Logos on par with the Shindai family. At some point, Rui obtained the Amanojaku Alter Ride Book from the Southern Base and used its power to kill his own uncle. However in the shuffle, he was intercepted by Ren Akamichi and accidentally dropped a pen with his family's crest.
After rearranging his family's assets, he set up a political marriage with Reika Shindai, but his treachery was discovered by Ryoga Shindai who then confronted him by crashing the wedding. After Rui transformed into the Ananojaku Megid, he is defeated by Sabela and Durendel, and asked by Reika to turn over to a new leaf.
Personality[]
Rui is a well-kept man, as befitting of his status as a member of a distinguished family. He told Reika that he wanted to upload peace and claimed to have possessed similar idealistic values as her.
However in reality, he was actually disillusioned with the world order itself and wanted to change it by having high influence in the Sword of Logos, leading to him personally murdering his uncle to do so. His marriage with Reika was part of his ploy to gain control in not only his family but also another high-profile family, the Shindai family in this case.

Amanojaku Megid[]

By using the Amanojaku Alter Ride Book, Rui can fuse with the Megid, gaining the ability to change partially and fully into the Megid and use some of its powers only with a partial transformation.
- Abilities
- Shimi Summon: Using the Amanojaku Alter Ride Book, Rui can summon Shimi, Rui seems able to do this without the Alter Ride Book itself it seems.
- Transformation: Rui can transform from his human form into his Megid form at will, and can achieve a partial transformation like changing his left arm.
- Darkness Energy Generation: Rui can generate black and purple darkness energy from his left arm which he can channel to fire as energy ball-like projectile or as a melee attack.
- Teleportation: Rui can teleport himself and others into a different location at will. This is only shown when he transported himself, Reika and Ryoga with his arm changed only.

Portrayal[]
- Rui Mitarai was portrayed by Hiroshi Yazaki (矢崎 広, Yazaki Hiroshi), who also portrayed Shinji Kikuchi in Kamen Rider Den-O.
Etymology[]
- As with the surname scheme of the characters in Saber, his name, Mitarai contains a homophone of the kanji Mi (神) meaning "god" or "deity".
- The Amanojaku Megid is based on an Amanojaku, a demon-like creature in Japanese folklore.

- Rui Mitarai is the first host to gain complete control of their Megid.
