History[]
Early Life[]
Raito Sonozaki was born the youngest child and only son of the Sonozaki Family around 1992. However, 12 years ago when he was 5, he fatally fell into the true Gaia Memory (地球の記憶, Chikyū no Kioku), but somehow revived as an avatar almost instantaneously. Since then, Raito spent most his life in a seclusive institute and his memories altered by his father Ryubei Sonozaki until the evening of Begins Night, where he was rescued by a hard-boiled detective and his rookie partner and was given a new name, Philip, at the cost of the detective's life.
Becoming Kamen Rider Double[]
After the events of Begins Night while honoring his deceased savior, Philip assists Shotaro in the Narumi Detective Office to investigate the ongoing Dopant activity. With no recollection of his past life prior to his rescue, Philip spends his time in the Detective Office's secret hangar while keeping his location secret from the organization Shotaro rescued him from. In his free time, he reads about common topics that he finds interesting while helping Shotaro's cases by using his ability to access the Gaia Library (地球の本棚, Hoshi no Hondana), a collection of all of the information in the known world. But whenever in Shotaro's need during Dopant battles, Philip fights with Shotaro as the mind and soul of Kamen Rider Double, providing the Gaia Memories for Double's right side.
Learning his Past[]
With the addition of Akiko Narumi as the office's chief and every case solved with Shotaro, Philip begins to take steps forward in becoming human as his personality develops, giving him a strong love toward Futo City and his friends. His emotions begin surfacing upon meeting Satoshi Yamashiro, a neuroscientist abducted by the Museum organization who was responsible for Philip's memory loss; and Wakana Sonozaki, Futo's popular radio host whom he develops feelings for before realizing to be his elder sister. Upon meeting the two is when Philip discovers the truth of himself as part of the Sonozaki Family which reverts him back to his logical self seeing, seeing no hope in resisting a Gaia Memory's corruption given evident by the current devilish state of his family. This all changed in reversal during the "Gene Dopant" case per Akiko's persuasion which proved successful, making Philip became devoted to liberate his family from their memories' dark influence.
Forever: A to Z/The Gaia Memories of Fate[]
Abandoned U & Goodbye to the E[]
During the Old Dopant case with Philip taking over due to Shotaro's "aging down", Philip learns of Shroud's identity as his mother, Fumie Sonozaki, who was the true client of the Begins Night case and also Double and Accel's benefactor with their arsenal. Philip finally confronts his father, Ryubei Sonozaki during the "Evil Tail" matter, where Double finally breaks the Terror Memory, but was unable to rescue his father from the burning Sonozaki mansion.
After being thrown into the Gaia Memory for the Gaia Impact and extracted from Claydoll Xtreme, time was running out for Philip where his body became unstable to the point that should he transform into Kamen Rider Double again, he would break down into data and completely be absorbed by the planet. Saving their final transformation to save Wakana and fight the Utopia Dopant, Jun Kazu, Philip has Shotaro promise to him that he will still fight for Futo even if he is gone. After Kazu is defeated, Philip bids his final farewell to Shotaro as he fades away once the transformation is ended. Before he left, Philip left Shotaro a gift containing a Lostdriver belt and his blank book he used to access the Gaia Library with a parting message thanking Shotaro and asking him to continue to protect Futo.
A few days later, Wakana escapes police custody and eventually learns about Philip's sacrifice with remorse. With a final consolation from Shroud before her last breath, Wakana initiates her own Gaia Impact where she sacrifices her existence to restore the Xtreme Memory and Philip's physical body slowly in reconstitution for a year. After being revived, Philip has one last moment with his family who tell him that they will be watching over him within the Earth. He then spent the next year waiting for his body to be restored and watched over Shotaro within the Xtreme Memory. Upon returning to physical form, he continues to protect the city of Futo as Kamen Rider Double.
Other Events[]
Kamen Rider Heisei Generations Forever[]
Saber + Zenkaiger: Superhero Senki[]
Though both he and his partner, Shotaro Hidari, were seemingly erased as a result of Asmodeus’ manipulations, they were restored back into existence once Touma Kamiyama had helped Shotaro regained his passion in drawing out the superheroes that he wants to draw out.
During the climatic final battle itself, Kamen Rider Double can be seen fighting alongside Kamen Rider Black RX, Red Turbo, Bouken Red and Zenkai Vroon.
Kamen Rider Revice: The Mystery[]
Video Game Appearances[]
Kamen Rider Travelers Record[]
Philip appears in the video game Kamen Rider Travelers Record.
Personality[]
In his early childhood, Philip was an affectionate child, something he retained until losing his memories. His isolation from society further damaging his sense of empathy, Philip gradually became cold in nature, relying on logic to cope with his situation. From this, Philip had little tact in general; his attitude occasionally bordering onto unnecessary cruelty.
Being extremely intelligent, he has a strong focus toward collecting information, regularly leaning toward an obsession. Once believing himself to have fully understood his topic of interest, Philip quickly discards his fascination and moves on, having no personal attachments whatsoever. His family and past are among the few things that can break Philip's cold demeanor, something he felt burdened with.
By Futo Tantei, Philip has significantly matured as an individual, becoming more mindful of others. During the case of the Trash Dopant, Philip bonded with the Bayside Bad Boys&Girls members, spending time as their friend. Upon learning that one of them was the culprit, Philip felt genuine sadness in turn, recognizing the pain of ousting a loved one as a criminal. Regretful of how he treated Shotaro's grief in similar cases, Philip resolved to take matters into his own hands, seeing it as his sworn duty.
When interacting with others, Philip often refers to them by their full name and/or status, barring Shotaro, Akiko, and the Sonozaki family.
Powers[]
- Gaia Library Access: Due to his status as the True Gaia Memory's avatar, Philip's focus and intelligence are comparable to a super computer. Having access to the Gaia Library, he can attain any recorded knowledge on Earth, appearing as though he possesses omniscience. Through use of Gaia Memories and/or Live Connectors, Philip can also connect with others in the Gaia Library, though only in special cases.
- Data Humanoid Body: Having been "reborn" as a data homunculi, Philip is immune to several powers by Dopants and can convert himself into pure data via the Xtreme Memory. While later recreated with a human body by Wakana[1], Philip evidently still retains these powers, giving him an unshared edge in battle.
Former Weaknesses[]
- Family: Due to having no knowledge of his past, Philip will blank out and suffer a mental breakdown whenever somebody mentions the "F" word as it is the only word being unable to lookup. This lasted until the Money Dopant case, where he overcomes this mental block having recognized Shotaro and Akiko as the family he can call his own.
- Poor Stamina: Being confined most of the time in the hangar, Philip has little stamina compared to an average human being, though still capable of moderate exercise. Thus, whenever transforming into FangJoker, Philip's body is unable to sustain the transformation for extensive periods. Evidently though, this has become less of an issue overtime, with Shotaro and Philip prove capable of transforming into FangMetal and FangTrigger in Futo Tantei.
- Body Breakdown: Right after his body was retrieved from the True Gaia Memory, Philip's body began dissolving at a rapid pace, with any transformations into Double only hastening the process. After Wakana restored him through her "Gaia Impact", Philip's body stability was fully restored, allowing him to transform into a Kamen Rider without issue once more.
Forms[]
- Main article: Kamen Rider Double
When Shotaro and Philip set their Gaia Memories into the Doubledriver, Philip's conscious mind enters Shotaro's body to produce Double (with the exception of FangJoker, where the opposite happens). Through the different Gaia Memories, Double has access to various combinations of powers, weapons, strengths, and weaknesses. Kamen Rider Double's forms accessed through their first six Gaia Memories are known as Half Changes (ハーフチェンジ, Hāfu Chenji), due to the fact that Double can switch out one (or both) Gaia Memories in the belt in a Memory Change (メモリチェンジ, Memori Chenji) to change forms.

Due to the usage of the Skull Memory, Double's Windy Stabilizer muffler has been replaced with Skull's scarf. In addition, Double's chest armor now sports the ribcage-like design from Skull's Bone Protection armor, while his mask gains a line pattern near the mouth area akin to Skull's mouthpiece.

It is colored red and silver and is accessed from the Heat and Metal Memories, hence known as the Blazing Warrior (炎の戦士, Honō no Senshi). In this form, the damage from the Metalshaft is increased by fire.
A common tactic used by Double is to turn around while changing to this form, using the Metalshaft on his back to block enemy attacks before counterattacking. HeatMetal is considered to be the strongest, but also the slowest of the 9 forms, due to its running speed and weight and it's jumping height is weaker than the other 2 Metal forms.
This form's finisher is the Metal Branding (メタルブランディング, Metaru Burandingu): After inserting the Metal Memory in the Metalshaft, Double allows one or both ends of the Metalshaft to ignite on fire and delivers a final blow to the opponent. FangJoker (ファングジョーカー, Fangu Jōkā) is a white and black form that Double uses to escape from Philip's captors during the events of the Begins Night as seen in Kamen Rider × Kamen Rider W & Decade: Movie War 2010. As the Fang Memory was designed for Philip, his and Shotaro's roles as Double are reversed in FangJoker, with Shotaro's consciousness transferred into Philip's body for the transformation, Double's left eye flashes whenever Shotaro speaks. This form is described as the Wild Skilled Warrior (野生技戦士, Yasei Waza Senshi), as the transformation takes an extreme tax on Philip's body as he tends to lose control of himself when in this form during its first two uses. Additionally this form cannot be used for long periods of time due to Philip's weaker body. FangJoker is considered to be faster and stronger than the other forms that came before it.
By activating the Fang Memory's horn between one and three times, FangJoker is able to summon a bladed weapon that forms on various portions of FangJoker's body. One time summons the Arm Saber (アームセイバー, Āmu Seibā) on FangJoker's wrist to be used as a close combat weapon; two times summons the Shoulder Saber (ショルダーセイバー, Shorudā Seibā), which can be removed from FangJoker's right shoulder to be used as a dagger or boomerang-like weapon; three times summons the Maximum Saber (マキシマムセイバー, Makishimamu Seibā) on FangJoker's right ankle.
This form's finisher is the Fang Strizer (ファングストライザー, Fangu Sutoraizā): A flying roundhouse kick with the Maximum Saber in which a projection of the Fang Memory's head is shown "biting" the opponent when Double comes in contact while forming a projection of the English Letter F. This can be used in combination with Kamen Rider Accel's Accel Glanzer to perform the Rider Twin Maximum (ライダーツインマキシマム, Raidā Tsuin Makishimamu).

FangMetal (ファングメタル, Fangu Metaru) is a white and metallic-grey form accessed with the Fang Memory and the Metal Memory, exclusive to the Futo Tantei manga. In this form, the Metalshaft is unusable but instead the Metal Memory's powers enhances Double's entire body giving it significant boost in armor and power, especially when Double activates the Shoulder Fang. Its unique feature is Double's whole body are covered sideways with saber fangs from shoulder to arm are coated in metallic coating with the Metal attribute, in which Double cannot use the Shoulder Saber weapons as they are rigidly fixed to his body. Thus Double's fighting style lies in close-quarters combat and using its armored sabers to land rough consecutive strikes and slashes.
Like the other Metal forms, its combat paremeters lie in both offense and defense with reduced running speed and increased weight as the only drawback, but compensated with Fang's ferocious attribute and Metal's sturdiness being able to reflect any attack. This form is considered to be the strongest, but also the slowest of the 9 forms, due to its running speed and weight and it's jumping height is weaker than the other 2 Metal forms.
This form's finisher is the Fang Spear Bullet (ファングスピアバレット, Fangu Supia Baretto): a corkscrew tackle in which Double hurls the opponent into the air before delivering a spiralling charge towards the enemy. With Double's arms crossed, shoulders high and fangs extended, the attack is powerful enough as a penetrating drill.
Appearances: Futo Tantei: Chapter 100

FangTrigger (ファングトリガー, Fangu Torigā) is a white and blue form accessed with the Fang Memory and the Trigger Memory, exclusive to the Futo Tantei manga. In this form, the Triggermagnum is unusable but instead the Trigger Memory's powers is transferred to Double's left wrist where the Arm Saber functions are formed to generate a bow.
Like the other Trigger forms, its specializes in long-ranged combat and marksmanship. The sabers on its fist can form a tiger-claw weapon where they can be fired as rapid long-range projectiles called Fist Needles (フィストニードル ), that can paralyze the opponent. In addition, the needles are coated with the same organic material as Double's bioarmor, they can home onto the opponent while transmitting through inorganic substances.
This form's finisher is the Fang Screwdle (ファングスクリュードル, Fangu Sukuryūdoru): A charged energy arrow is fired with the tip dinosaur-shaped in Doubledriver format. When fired, the arrow fires at a fast and spiralling pace where the dinosaur tip crunches the opponent upon impact, before sending the enemy flying and exploding.

CycloneJokerXtreme (サイクロンジョーカーエクストリーム, Saikuron Jōkā Ekustorīmu) is the first evolved form of CycloneJoker accessed with the Xtreme Memory, linking it directly to the infinite knowledge of the true Gaia Memory through the iridescent band going down the middle of Kamen Rider Double's body called the Crystal Server (クリスタルサーバー, Kurisutaru Sābā). It is also known as the Evolved Perfect Warrior (進化完璧戦士, Shinka Kanpeki Senshi), as it also represents the perfect union between Shotaro and Philip. The sheer knowledge of this form wields allows Double to instantly analyze the opponent's capabilities. While not as physically strong as FangJoker, this Form seems to have better defenses as it easily withstood the Weather Dopant`s attacks without using the Prismbicker.
During the transformation, the middle of Double begins to glow as the Xtreme Memory absorbs the Cyclone and Joker Memories and attaches itself onto the Doubledriver. The Xtreme Memory opens up revealing a spinning X as Double rips open the center revealing the prism-colored center.
Unlike the other forms of Double, where Shotaro or Philip provide the body for their Rider Form, the Xtreme Memory absorbs Philip's body and fuses it with Shotaro's body in their Rider Form becoming one in body, mind and soul. Thus when either Philip or Shotaro speaks on their own, their respective side's eye flashes, and why they also appear together as soon as they break the transformation.
By gathering energy into his fists from either halves Double can throw powerful punches at the opponent.
In this form, Double wields the Prismbicker which has its own Maximum Drives. Unlike the other forms of Double, CycloneJokerXtreme's motif also includes the letter X.
This form has five finishers:
- Xtreme Memory finisher:
- Double Xtreme (ダブルエクストリーム, Daburu Ekustorīmu): After closing and re-opening the Xtreme Memory, a large tornado emits from the Xtreme Memory carring Double into the air and accelerating him towards the target.
- Maximum Slot + Xtreme Memory finisher:
- Double Prism Xtreme (ダブルプリズムエクストリーム, Daburu Purizumu Ekusutorīmu): After inserting the Prism Memory in the Maximum Slot and closing and re-opening the Xtreme Memory, Double performs an upgraded version of the Double Xtreme kick which extends the initial drop kick into bicycle kicks.
- Prismsword finisher:
- Prism Break (プリズムブレイク, Purizumu Bureiku): After inserting the Prism Memory into the Prismsword and by pressing the Maximum Starter button on its hilt, Double can perform an energized slash or a wave of energy.
- Prismbicker finishers:
- Through the Prism Memory's ability to link Philip's three elemental Gaia Memories with the Joker Memory, the Prismbicker allows CycloneJokerXtreme to perform two quadruple power Maximum Drives:
- Bicker Charge Break (ビッカーチャージブレイク, Bikkā Chāji Bureiku): A powerful version of Prism Break. Double combines the power of the Prismsword and the 4 Gaia Memories and delivers an enhanced version of the Prism Break slash. A variation of the Bicker Charge Break turns the Bickershield into a whirling disc of energy which Kamen Rider Double can ride like a surfboard, allowing him to perform the Maximum Drive against an airborne foe.
- Bicker Finalusion (ビッカーファイナリュージョン, Bikkā Fainaryūjon): Double combines the power of the Prismbicker and the 4 Gaia Memories and delivers a powerful laser blast. A variation of Bicker Finalusion in which the Metal Memory is used in place of the Joker Memory creates a strong energy shield capable of withstanding a wide-area devastation attack from Claydoll Xtreme.
- Through the Prism Memory's ability to link Philip's three elemental Gaia Memories with the Joker Memory, the Prismbicker allows CycloneJokerXtreme to perform two quadruple power Maximum Drives:
CycloneJokerXtreme's ending theme is entitled "Extreme Dream".

CycloneJokerGoldXtreme (サイクロンジョーカーゴールドエクストリーム, Saikuron Jōkā Gōrudo Ekusutorīmu) is the second evolved form of CycloneJokerXtreme. This form is achieved when intense wind blows against Double and into the Xtreme Memory, and activates its full potential.
In this form, the Crystal Server turns golden, with a set of insect wings that flurishes out of Double's back, allowing Double to fly. Double uses this form again in Movie War Core to finish off Kamen Rider Core with Kamen Rider OOO Tajadol Combo.
This form's Memory Break finisher is the Golden Xtreme (ゴールデンエクストリーム, Gōruden Ekusutorīmu): Double performs a flying, golden version of the Double Xtreme kick.

This form, along with JokerJoker, are gained after Kamen Rider Decade uses the Final Form Ride card, Kamen Rider W to separate Double's halves where they are controlled by the minds and bodies they originated from.
An interesting note is that the Doubledriver on both bodies has two of the same Gaia Memories used in CycloneJoker and CycloneCyclone has two scarves hanging from his neck. CycloneCyclone gains the Cyclone Memory's power of wind.
When Decade uses the Final Attack Ride Card, CycloneCyclone, JokerJoker, and Decade perform the three-way Triple Extreme (トリプルエクストリーム, Toripuru Ekusutorīmu) attack, where both Doubles use their traditional Drop Kicks while Decade uses his traditional Flying Side Kick.
This form is exclusive to Kamen Rider × Kamen Rider W & Decade: Movie War 2010.

By utilizing a Cyclone Memory in the Lostdriver, Philip is able to transform into Kamen Rider Cyclone (仮面ライダーサイクロン, Kamen Raidā Saikuron), with his appearance being identical to that of Double. This Rider was first accessed when Shotaro became unavailable to fight after contracting a cold and was given the Driver by Shroud. After Philip's temporary death, he gave the Lostdriver to Shotaro, who used it in the show's final episode as Joker.
When the Memory is placed into the Maximum Slot, Cyclone executes a Rider Kick Maximum Drive. Along with Kamen Rider Joker, the two can execute the Double Rider Kick Maximum Drive.
