Nozomu Otani (大谷 希望, Ōtani Nozomu) is the main protagonist of Birth of Chimera and the overarching protagonist of Kamen Rider Revice: Battle Familia. He is a young man who transforms into the second Kamen Rider Chimera (仮面ライダーキマイラ, Kamen Raidā Kimaira).

Nozomu Otani was born in a town called Horai as the only son of Kousei and Kazumi Otani. During his childhood, he also befriended Ryu Mukai. Although Mukai aspired to become a hero, Nozomu promises to become a doctor one day save his sick mother. He was particularly close with his family, such as competing in arm wrestling contests with his father.
Birth of Chimera[]

One day, Nozomu and Mukai pray together at a shrine. Mukai teases him about his dream to become a doctor, but he knows Nozomu has what it takes. Nozomu learns that his friend will participate in Masato Sotoumi's trial of an experimental new drug to enhance one's genes. Sometime later, Nozomu was out with his parents when they came across Shinta, who suddenly turns into a demon. Mukai arrives the rescue the family as Kamen Rider Chimera. After the demon perished, Nozomu and his parents check up on Mukai, but the latter runs away to confront Sotoumi.

When the town is attacked by Azuma and his group, the Otani family were caught in the crossfire. His father attempts to fight Tony and Hakim, but is quickly subdued. This caught Mukai's attention, who tried to help the Otanis, but was quickly beaten. When Nozomu picks up the Chimera Vistamp, Azuma seizes the Chimera Driver to become Kamen Rider Daimon. This causes Mukai to turn into a demon, leading to Daimon to deal the killing blow which caused an explosion. Nozomu's parents shield him from the explosion, killing them. Seeing that his parents and friends are died, Nozomu swears revenge on Azuma and the others as they leave.
Battle Familia[]
After his encounter with Azuma, Nozomu was at the Ibaraki Airport where he was approached by the Igarashi family to take their group picture. He sensed that Azuma and his group were planning a hijacking incident, and boarded the plane on which Genta and Yukimi Igarashi were boarding as passengers. Nozomu introduced himself to the couple, stating that he's on vacation to meet family. He was able to keep himself quiet without being recognized as the plane was commandeered and landed on Area 666.
While the guard looked away, Nozomu sneaked out of the plane and entered Masato Sotoumi's laboratory. He was able to seize the Chimera Driver from them, but Yukimi tells him to prioritize saving the passengers instead. Running back to the plane, he uses the Chimera Driver and became Kamen Rider Chimera. After defeating the Mandrill Deadman, Nozomu confronts Azuma to avenge his parents, despite the latter having forgotten the incident. Nozomu was defeated and Azuma took back the belt, but he later escaped with the other hostages thanks to the intervention of Kamen Rider Geats.
Although he was defeated and lost the Chimera Driver, Nozomu was encouraged by Genta to let go of his hatred and continue living for his parent's sake. Nozomu assisted the Igarashi and the plane passengers as they head straight towards the escape route, only to be blocked off by Azuma and Chic's army of demons. As the Kamen Riders fought off the horde of Giff Juniors, Nozomu remained on the bus to help hold off the mooks, protecting the passengers with Genta and Sakura. After Area 666 was dismantled and everyone was able to safely escape, Nozomu assisted Yume Takeda as she was giving birth. After her child was born, the mother named the baby after Nozomu.
Personality[]
Nozomu is a mild-mannered young man, wanting to become a doctor to treat his mother's illness. After the deaths of his parents at the indirect hands of Azuma, Nozomu becomes more serious as he attempts to take him down for revenge. However, after meeting the Igarashi siblings, Nozomu finally realized his revenge won't solve anything. He decided to assist them and their friends to saves the victims and helping them taking down Azuma.

Kamen Rider Chimera (仮面ライダーキマイラ, Kamen Raidā Kimaira) accesses his crocodile and king crab-based primary form by using the Twin Chimera Vistamp in the Chimera Driver.
Chimera's statistics are roughly equivalent to Revi's Barid Rex Genome, with the exception of Chimera having a slightly higher jump height. As a result, he surpasses Live, Evil, Jeanne, and Demons in their standard forms, but is completely outclassed by Destream and Daimon. Repeated usage of the Chimera Driver carries the risk of transforming the user into a demon, as seen with Ryu Mukai. Nozomu only fought as Chimera once, so it is unknown if this would have happened to him as well.

- King Crab Edge (キングクラブエッジ, Kingu Kurabu Ejji): Chimera's forearm is covered with orange energy before he punches the opponent. A silver energy construct of a crab's claw appears beside Chimera and crushes the enemy as the punch makes contact.
- Crocodile Edge (クロコダイルエッジ, Kurokodairu Ejji): Chimera's leg is covered in orange and yellow energy as he performs a roundhouse kick, with an energy construct of a crocodile head appearing as his foot strikes the opponent. Chimera and the enemy then fall to the ground. At the same time, electricity appears around the crocodile head and its open jaws surround the opponent. The crocodile head then bites down on the enemy, destroying them in an explosion.
- Twin Chimera Edge (ツインキメラエッジ, Tsuin Kimera Ejji):

- Mamehara based Nozomu's Chimera transformation pose on both Kuuga and Meteor, as well as the dance choreography of his affiliated boy band's song Infinity.[1][2][3][4]
- Nozomu is the only user of Kamen Rider Chimera to not transform into a demon, due to Giff's eye being installed in the Chimera Driver by the time he used it.
