This article is about an organization in Kamen Rider Ex-Aid and Kamen Rider Ghost. |
The Next Genome Institute (ネクストゲノム研究所, Nekusuto Genomu Kenkyūjo) is an institute which conducted groundbreaking and innovative research on genomes called the Genome Project (ゲノムプロジェクト, Genomu Purojekuto).
They appear in Kamen Rider Heisei Generations: Dr. Pac-Man vs. Ex-Aid & Ghost with Legend Riders as the main antagonist and are led by Michihiko Zaizen. After disappearing from public view for a long time, the organization reappears and proceeds to steal technology from Genm Corp., which they use for their own objectives.
Behind the scenes, however, their former contractor, Kuroto Dan, purposely allowed them to steal his equipment in order to gather battle data on the previous Kamen Riders they fought for the purpose of creating a "forbidden game", which would eventually result in the creation of the Ganbarizing Gashat.[Kamen Rider Ex-Aid "Tricks": Kamen Rider Genm]
It is revealed that the Institute played a role in the emergence of the Bugster Virus in the modern day, as the Institute had kidnapped Emu Hojo shortly after the young man had won a Tekken tournament. They performed surgery on him at the request of Kuroto Dan, extracting Parado from his body. The wave of data released during this process resulted in the members of the Next Genome Institute vanishing into the Game World, explaining their sudden disappearance from the public.
Some years after the defeat of Dr. Pac-Man, the Next Genome Institute would return under the leadership of his daughter, Saiko Yaotome, collaborating with Kuroto Dan yet again to surgically extract Black Parado from the body of Masamune Dan just as the institute had with the original Parado and Emu Hojo years ago.[Kamen Rider Brave & Snipe]. Upon capturing Parado to replace him with Black Parado, Saiko brought him to a Next Genome Institute facility and bound him with special cords designed to nullify him.[Kamen Rider Para-DX with Poppy]
