This article is about an Orphnoch/temporary rider in Kamen Rider 555. |
Naoya Kaido (海堂 直也, Kaidō Naoya), also known as the Snake Orphnoch (スネークオルフェノク, Sunēku Orufenoku) is the third member of Yuji Kiba's group in Kamen Rider 555. He briefly used the Riotrooper belt.
History[]
TV Series[]
He played the guitar in his younger days, but sabotage from his teacher destroyed some of the motor-skills in his left hand, forcing him to abandon his music. He is later made a 'sired' Orphnoch by Eiichi Toda as an example to Kiba and Yuka of how Orphnoch must make allies, using a snap of his finger to trigger his transformation into Snake Orphnoch (スネークオルフェノク, Sunēku Orufenoku). Learning of the changes after his enhanced ability to smell cost him a part-time job and being targeted by a corrupt employer, Kaido decides to abuse his power for personal gain when he encountered Faiz, with Kiba coming to his aid.
He greatly mistreats Yuka accidentally due to her crush on him. Continuing to struggle with his nature as an Orphnoch, Kaido ends up living with Kiba and Yuka, although he is the least concerned about protecting humans. At times he sides with Smart Brain over Kiba and Yuka, but his powerful and soft-hearted conscience often stops him from committing heinous acts at the last second. He eventually develops a partnership with Keitaro, which results in many harebrained schemes to win the respected woman of their desire, and bonded with Teruo. He briefly wore one of the six Riotrooper gears under Kiba's term in Smart Brain, the two switched roles, with Kaido throwing away his Riotrooper belt at Kiba out of disgust for his friend's new attitude.
Kaido would later save and befriend an orphaned boy, Teruo Suzuki, from a fire. Little did he know it's the future Orphnoch King. Eventually, Kaido's and his friends eventually figured out that Terou is the messiah the Orphnochs has been waiting for and the Kamen Riders face them in a final epic battle. Unfortunately, both Kaido (as Snake Orphnoch) and Mihara (as Delta) are powerless to stop the Arc Orphnoch as it took Faiz and all of the riders to stop him. After the final battle, Kaido watches the orphanage (now run by Mihara and Rina) before he departs for an unknown destination.
D-Video Special: Kamen Rider 4[]
Before the last time looping after Shinnosuke died to prevent Go's fate from being killed in the first episode, Kaido was seen watching Drive's dead body while also watching Faiz and Zeronos battle three Shocker's remnants. [Deathmatch! The Kamen Rider Died Three Times!!]
Not wishing for Takumi to die again, Kaido revealed himself to Takumi, asking him to stop interfering in Shocker's plans. With Takumi unable to comprehend Kaido's words, the latter decides to stop him as the Snake Orphnoch. Suddenly though, Go as Mach arrives to stop Kaido, attacking him several times. Immediately, Takumi stops Go's onslaught, with Kaido retreating.
Later, Kaido reveals to Yuto and Shinnosuke that the time loop was being caused by Takumi's feelings of grief; with it also allowing Takumi to remain alive. Through his conversation, Kaido asks the two Riders to stop their investigation, telling them that Takumi had fought enough, and did not deserve to die again.
Ultimately. in a last ditch effort, Kaido faces Takumi in battle, trying to stop him from destroying Shocker's time modifying machine. Despite his efforts, Kaido is killed by Takumi's Exceed Charge, with Kaido calling Takumi a fool in his last breath.
Once Takumi sacrificed his life to destroy the timeline modifier, Kaido is revived as well, acting as his usual quirky self. In a solemn voice though, Kaido speaks to Takumi, revealing that he still remembered everything.
Kamen Rider Revice: The Mystery[]
Kaido was in Nijitenka Pension under the guise name of Naoto Kamiya (上屋 直人, Kamiya Naoto), teaching Suzu Saionji how to play the guitar. Unbeknownst to him however, he was secretly being targeted by the latter, who wanted a sample of his natural Orphnoch DNA in order to complete the Oblivian Vistamp. He tries to escape in the midst of the investigation into the murder of Taro Gondawara, but his true identity as an Orphnoch was outed by Vice.
After Suzu's true plans were revealed, Kaido decides to protect her from Vice's attack which nearly hit her. Having grown a soft spot for her, Kaido willingly allows Suzu to take his DNA. He collapses from the pain caused by the process, though it is revealed that he managed to survive. Later, as the case comes to a close with Suzu's arrest, Kaido watches the scene from afar as he leaves.
