Misaki Izumi (和泉美咲, Izumi Misaki) is the adoptive mother of Aoi Izumi and a shop owner. She is killed by the Anemone Kaijin, who was sent by Gorgom to kill Aoi.

History

Background

In 2015, Rino and Hideo Kawamoto prepare to leave Japan and leave a young Aoi in Misaki's care. Rino puts the necklace holding the red Kingstone around Aoi’s neck and tells her to never lose it before reciting Oliver’s motto. Both Rino and Shigeo hug Aoi, who then walks toward Misaki as her birth parents say goodbye and leave.

At some point, she began running the Izumi Shoten (和泉商店, Izumi Shōten, lit. "Izumi Shop"), which sells jeogori wedding gowns.

2022

After returning home from the United Nations conference in New York, Aoi is about to go to Shunsuke’s house to give him souvenirs when she gets a call from Rino, who says that she might return from China soon. Aoi tells Misaki the news before leaving as she intended.

Aoi returns home the morning after being attacked by the Spider Kaijin and tells Misaki what happened. Misaki tells Aoi that she should have contacted her after being saved by Kotaro Minami, and Aoi apologizes. Aoi then receives another call from her Rino, who says that she and Hideo will be arriving in Japan that day. Rino says that she wants to take Aoi with them, but Aoi responds that she just wants to meet them. Rino says that they will be waiting at the Symbol Tower in Yokohama. After Aoi ends the call, Misaki tells her to have a good time and not worry about her.

While Aoi meets with Nick at a restaurant, the Anemone Kaijin enters the shop looking for Aoi and kills Misaki. Aoi later returns with Shunsuke, who stops her and says that he senses a strong kaijin. However, she doesn’t take him seriously and walks into the living room, where she sees Anemone standing by Misaki’s corpse. Anemone tells Aoi that she killed Misaki because she was in her way. Aoi is kidnapped by the kaijin, but is freed and runs home. Aoi is mourning over Misaki's body when Kotaro comes back, and he comforts her as she cries.

After Misaki's death, Aoi moves in with Kotaro and the shop is closed down.
