Masumi Karizaki (狩崎 真澄, Karizaki Masumi) was a former researcher of NOAH and the creator of the Vistamps. After faking his death, he secretly founded and led Weekend against Giff until his death from his deteriorating health.
History
Background
Masumi Karizaki was born sometime in 1966. In his adulthood he fathered a son named George and became influential within the ranks of Fenix, later becoming the head researcher of NOAH who led the analyzation of Giff's coffin. By 1996, Masumi had developed the Vistamps intended to relieve humans of the burden of their inner demons. At some point, Masumi transferred his inner demon to George. After treating Junpei Shiranami from a severe injury, he implanted Giff's genes to save his patient's life and selected him to become Kamen Rider Vail. In time, Masumi became ashamed of his treatment towards Junpei.
When a rampaging Kamen Rider Vail plummeted NOAH's forces, Masumi decided to surrender his life as repentance. However, he was surprised to see Junpei stop by Yukimi Igarashi's pleas. When Vail separated from Junpei, Masumi used the completed Demons Driver to seal Vail into the belt, setting himself aflame and resulting in the destruction of NOAH's headquarters. NOAH's facility collapsed on top of him and Masumi seemingly perished from the rubble. George, believing that his father had passed away, erected a memorial gravesite for him and visited it regularly.
However, Masumi had actually survived and maintained this a secret from even his family. His face became severely scarred during the sealing process, forcing him to cover his face up in a white mask. The coffin of Giff that was under NOAH's custody was seized by Hideo Akaishi to form the Deadmans, who also became the director of Fenix. Expecting that Fenix would misuse Giff's power if the coffin fell into their possession, Masumi founded Weekend to oppose them, using his old house as Weekend's base.
Welcome to Weekend
In the background, Masumi led Weekend and kept a close watch on the Igarashi family. He tasked three members of his organization, who would become known as the Ushijima family, as regular customers of the Happy Spa bathhouse. Masumi also developed the Libera Driver for Sakura Igarashi to become Kamen Rider Jeanne. Upon Giff's first awakening, he created the Rolling Vistamp for Ikki Igarashi to treat Vice's headaches.
He made his first presence known to Sakura after being suspicious of Jack Revice, which caused Ikki and Vice swapping places in roles. He gave orders to a Weekend member to impersonate a Fenix soldier to deliver the Rolling Vistamp to Ikki Igarashi. While George managed to almost fix the Rolling Stamp's side-effect, causing Ikki and Vice to inhabit the same body, Masumi laughed it off as amusing.
Once Vail began reawakening due to Giff's pulsations, Masumi worried he would go after George, only to be informed that he intends to reunite with Genta Igarashi. When Giff's pulsations began affecting Ikki and Vice as well, the Igarashi family were brought to Weekend's hideout where he reunited with Yukimi Igarashi and apologized for being secretive to her all this time.
Eventually, Ikki and Vice would break out and becoming an out-of-control Jack Revice. George became Kamen Rider Demons to subdue Jack Revice, and creating the Thunder Gale Vistamp to hone Jack Revice's true potential as Kamen Rider Revice. Afterwards, Masumi reunited with his son and expressed to work together to stop Giff. However, George ended up leaving Weekend's hideout without a response.
Death
Suffering from his extreme illness and injuries, Masumi was worrying about his legacy to George as he's feeling his very soon death. Seeing this, Hana would ask George to go see his father before he passes away. Being busy modifying the Demons Driver, he denies the offer, as his work could instead prevent Hiromi's life to be threatened for his body to undergo an extra transformation into Kamen Rider Demons. During the fight of the Kamen Riders against Giff, Masumi dies off-screen. George later came to visit him, but his earlier decision to work on the Demons Driver meant he was too late for his father to still be alive. Legacy
After his death, his position as Weekend's leader was filled by Demons Army commander Hiromi Kadota. However, a later incident saw George releasing Chic, the father-and-son duo's shared Inner Demon, after attempting to use the Chimera Driver. This would then lead to the clash between the Igarashi siblings and Azuma's group.[Birth of Chimera][Battle Familia]
His death caused George to spiral down into villainy, becoming Kamen Rider Juuga in a desperate attempt to prove that he doesn't need the power of demons as he actively tries to spite him by targeting Masumi's creations.[Karizaki's Rebellion, The Price of Transformation]
It is also revealed that Masumi kept the drawings George had made as a child within a secret room inside the Weekend HQ (which used to be his and George's house). These ended up being instrumental in returning George to the side of good.[Proof of Determination! This is... Japan's No. 1 Busybody!]
After George's return to the fold and the final battle between Ikki and Vice, George began paying proper visits to his father's grave.[Family to the End, Until the Day We Meet Again]
Personality
As a representative of Weekend, Masumi has a calm demeanor, but keeps himself mysterious such as not talking about anything important and only speaking meaningful messages. When his results become different from expected, he feels amused and laughs it off as "interesting".
Despite his secretive nature, Masumi deep down has good intentions when it comes to his research. He displayed remorse for turning Genta Igarashi into Kamen Rider Vail, seeking to find redemption as he helped him escape NOAH and currently wishes to help Genta's children. He also wished to reconcile with his son and praised George's work on the Thunder Gale Vistamp.
However, in spite all of his good intentions, his keeping of secrets away from George only further alienated him. When George discovers his father faked his death, George has nothing but resentment towards Masumi after meeting him in person. The straw that broke the camel's back was after learning Masumi transferred his inner demon to George. The revelation made George even more furious towards Masumi, until it was all too late when neither father or son apologized after Masumi passed away, causing George to spiral down to a dark path. It only took Ikki and Vice to finally snap George back to his senses; at the expense of the former's remaining memories of his family, and Hiromi bringing to George all of his father's keepsake where he finally gained closure with Masumi's death.

Relationships
Family
- George Karizaki: George is Masumi's son, whom he loves dearly. However due to certain events that happened in the past, such as Masumi faking his death 25 years ago, George was briefly not on speaking terms with him. Despite that, the two of them still held a mutual level of respect for each other's work. Though Masumi has deeply regretted his past sins and has worked hard to repent since then, it took a while longer for George to finally let go of his own bitterness towards his father, with the two eventually reconciling. As both father and son began working together in the war against Giff, Masumi was finally able to witness his son surpass his own work. Although their cooperation was smooth, George learned that he was given his father's demon as a child, which caused his grudge against him to resurface. Sadly, Masumi passed away before George could see him again, though despite a severe dark period George was able to let go of the grudge completely, thanks in no small part to the drawings made by young George kept in a secret room.

- Genta Igarashi/Kamen Rider Vail/Kamen Rider Destream: Masumi was responsible for turning Genta into Kamen Rider Vail when he was desperate for his malicious experiment to create a super soldier for NOAH. - Yukimi Igarashi: Masumi befriended with Yukimi for awhile to help them escape NOAH. Their relationship as friends are still on good terms and both are glad to have each other in friendship.
- Shozo Irabu: Masumi was told off by Shozo and became an ally as an agent for Weekend in order to keep Genta in check.

- Kimiko Ushijima: A member of Weekend.
