Masahito Shizumiya (鎮宮 雅仁, Shizumiya Masahito) was a researcher who formerly worked alongside with Takatora Kureshima in a series of experiments on the Torkia Republic as part of Project Ark. Though he had seemingly died eight years ago when the experiments failed, he resurfaces in the present upon Takatora's return to the Republic and transforms into Kamen Rider Zangetsu (仮面ライダー斬月, Kamen Raidā Zangetsu).

Melon Arms (メロンアームズ, Meron Āmuzu) is Zangetsu's default honeydew-melon-based armored Japanese Samurai form. Accessed through the Melon Lockseed, this form bears the Melo Kabuto (メロウカブト, Merō Kabuto, lit. "Melo Helmet") helmet with the Pulp Eye (パルプアイ, Parupu Ai) visor.
While assuming Melon Arms, Zangetsu dons the Melon Armor Part (メロンアーマーパート, Meron Āmā Pāto) and his Arms Weapon is the Melon Defender.
