Kiriya Kujo (九条 貴利矢, Kujō Kiriya), also spelt as Kiriya Kujyo, was a medical examiner of Seito University Hospital. He obtained a Gamer Driver and the Bakusou Bike Gashat to transform into Kamen Rider Lazer (仮面ライダーレーザー, Kamen Raidā Rēzā).

He was later revived by Kamen Rider Cronus, and transforms to a modified version of Lazer, becoming Kamen Rider Lazer Turbo (仮面ライダーレーザーターボ, Kamen Raidā Rēzā Tābo).

After helping CR to create an antibody for the Gamedeus Virus with Kuroto, he became an official member of CR.

Character History

Discovering the Game Illness

Kiriya and Jungo's body

Kiriya looks over Jungo's cadaver.

"Bugster Virus Infection. A life-threatening illness. These are secret documents obtained from the Health Ministry. Your symptom match what it describes."
―Kiriya informing Jungo of his condition.[src]

Before Zero Day took place, Kiriya discovered through files he took from the Ministry of Health that his friend Jungo Aihara had been afflicted with a mysterious sickness - the Game illness, which was a potentially fatal virus. Informed by Kiriya of his findings, Jungo was unable to accept the reality that he was going to die and freaked out and ran away, leading to his death in a traffic accident. Kiriya was devastated by the passing of his friend, and grieved over Jungo at the morgue. He blamed himself for revealing the truth, and lamented that his friend would not have died had he kept it to himself. Consequently, the incident caused Kiriya to believe that telling the truth might not always be the best thing to do. [The Reason for Some Lies!]

Becoming a Kamen Rider

Kiriya blackmail Kuroto

Kiriya blackmailed Kuroto.

Two years later, Kiriya Kujo found out about Zero Day and the Bugster three years before the series. Confronting Kuroto Dan about this information, he blackmailed Dan into giving him a Gamer Driver and the Bakusou Bike Gashat in exchange for his silence. [An Operation Called Dash!]

―Kiriya Kujo[src]

A further three years later, Kiriya appeared at the abandoned venue for the Mighty Action X launch party following the Bugster's rampage, voicing to himself that things are getting interesting and that everyone is raring to start the race. [I'm a Kamen Rider!]

Observing the Fight

"They're all really getting into it."
―Kiriya Kujo[src]

From afar, Kiriya later witnessed Ex-Aid and Brave's battle against the Aranbura Bugster which was interrupted by Kamen Rider Genm, observing that everyone is getting "super pumped up". [Another Prodigy with No Thank You?]

Four Players

Seeing Snipe's debut make four players, he noted that it was about time to start the race. [BANG, That Jerk is Coming!]

Debut as Lazer and first encounter with Genm

Emu meets Kiriya

Kiriya introduces himself to Emu Hojo.

Kiriya appeared in Pediatrics along with the patient, Yoshitaka Nishiwaki, surprising Emu. Kiriya states that he wants to meet with the Genius Gamer, calling him 'Expert'. He wants Emu to save the patient, and in return, he'll retrieve Emu Gashat from Taiga.

Kiriya visits Emu

Kiriya visits Taiga.

Kiriya later shows at Taiga's base and asks him for a duel for Emu's Gashat to which Taiga agrees. Kiriya and Taiga then show up at a park where Emu, Asuna, Yoshitaka, and Hiiro were. When Taiga asked the reason Kiriya helps the patient, the latter states that his friend was also one of the victims of Zero Day & he won't let another person suffer the same fate as him, especially after he saw Graphite kidnapped Yoshitaka's sister, Riko & infected him with the Bugster virus. Suddenly, Yoshitaka turns into a giant Bugster and Kiriya, along with Taiga transformed into Kamen Riders Lazer Level 1 and Snipe Level 1 respectively.

Using the Instigate Energy Item, Lazer manages to extract Motor Bugster from Yoshitaka but finds out that he's unable to stop spinning. Motors then stops him before trying to run. Lazer then levels up into Level 2, which takes the form of a racing bike, astonishing all the riders. Lazer orders Emu to ride him, but Emu decides to save Nishiwaki first, much to his dismay. Lazer then tries to chase himself, but Motors has already escaped.

Kiriya later shows up in CR front door, complaining Emu that he lost Motor's track. Emu, however, convinces him that since his Gashat is racing themed, he could actually challenge him to a race. Hearing this, Kiriya brightens and immediately offers his friendship with Emu, which Emu gladly agrees.

Dash Operation

Lazer's first team-up with Ex-Aid.

Kiriya then transforms into Lazer Level 1 and goes to Level 2 directly, prompting Emu to ride him. Emu selects the stage and faces Motor in a race. After Emu transforms into Ex-Aid Level 2, they stop Motor Bugster using the perfect conjunction of High-Jump Energy Item and Gashacon Breaker. Ex-Aid helps Lazer to execute Critical Strike and defeat Motor, saving Riko in process.

However, after they won, Lazer threw them off and reverts to Level 1. When asked by Ex-Aid, he reveals that he made up the story about his friend and renounces his friendship with Emu. All he wants is to obtain a sample of the Bugster virus to learn more about them. However, before he is able to achieve his goal, Genm appears, destroying the dying Bugster in the process. Genm then transforms into Sports Action Gamer Level 3 and using Shakariki Critical Strike, Genm managed to almost deplete Lazer & Ex-Aid's Rider Gauges. Kiriya states that it's still early for a Game Over, and cancels his transformation. [An Operation Called Dash!]

Second Encounter with Genm

"We know your true identity."
―Lazer's word to Genm.[src]

Kiriya, along with Taiga are shown at Dan office, already holding the special stethoscope and overheard Dan's conversation with Poppy Pipopapo. Taiga said that he'll claim all the stolen Gashats himself before he took his leave. Kiriya asks Dan if it's alright to count him in, which the latter said that he had no choice. Kiriya states that it's fine by him, he only wants to know what behind the Bugsters.

Three Doctors transform

Three doctor transforms.

Later, Kiriya was seen walking around a park when he saw the Gashat thief passing by him. He then decides to follow the thief. Getting the info he needed, he comes to Emu, Hiiro, and Asuna. Emu gets bewildered as he remembers him. Kiriya lightheartedly states that Emu won't find the Thief right now and even jokingly comment that Emu doesn't need to be so angry. He then says that he secretly spies the Gashat thief, and deduces that Genm's true identity is none other than the thief himself.

Kiriya defeat

Kiriya, beaten by Genm.

Kiriya appeared at the university where Emu, Hiiro, Asuna and even Taiga confront the Robots Bugster. He declines Taiga challenge as he had to fight with Genm, who appeared not too long after, already in Sports Action Gamer Level 3. Kiriya transformed into Lazer Level 1 to fight with Black Ex-Aid, alone. He taunts the black Rider about the fact that he knows his true identity, which the latter became shocked. However, Genm's sheer power is too much for Lazer as he beat Lazer badly, knocking him unconscious as Kiriya cancels his transformation. [Everyone Gathers for a Clashing Crash!]

Kiriya rest

Kiriya remained unconscious in recovery at the Seito hospital room for a short while after. [A Hollow Beating in the Heart!]

The Power of Level 3

"Telling the truth isn't always the right choice. The truth...can ruin people's lives!"
―Kiriya's thought about "truth".[src]

Kiriya finally awoke after receiving a nightmare about his friend's death five years ago. And he immediately knows that he stayed in a hospital room alongside an old man patient, Yoshio. Learning his relationship with his daughter, Shiori, Kiriya had his heart moved to help the patient once he noticed that the old man was infected with the Bugster virus. However, people in CR, in exception of Haima (the latter is still obvious about Kiriya) starts to not believe him. First, because he lied about his friend's death during Zero Day (although this is half true). Second, because he lied about Genm's identity to be Graphite. Kiriya claims that sometimes, you need to lie in order to make things better. However, people in CR leave him alone, much to his dismay.

Kiriya Emu second team-up

Kiriya & Emu's second team-up.

After Ex-Aid and Brave extract Chambara and Combat Collabos from Yoshio, Kiriya heard Emu's explanation about the Game disease. This reminds him of his past when he's too honest that ultimately leads his friend, Jungo to death. Kiriya punched the wall in rage before he decides to confront Emu. Kiriya then explains why Emu needed to lie once in a while and explained that Yoshio used a lie to his daughter, Shiori to make her start anew. As Asuna reports that the Bugster is on the loose, Kiriya says that the Bugster is about to attack Shiori, which turns out to be true.

Kiriya's revenge

First appearance of Lazer Chambara Bike Gamer Level 3

Kiriya convinced Emu and Hiiro about saving the old man together, only to have Emu accept the help. With the help from Ex-Aid, Lazer was finally able to fight properly alone with the upgrade by using the Giri Giri Chambara Gashat to change into Chambara Bike Gamer Level 3 after destroying Chambara Collabos Bugster, facing Genm Sports Action Gamer Level 3. Kiriya revealed the truth that Black Ex-Aid is Kuroto. But thanks to the plot from Parado, Kiriya was disbelieved by Hiiro as Parado took Kuroto's Gamer Driver after the massive explosion from Lazer's Giri Giri Critical Finish. Leaving him with no other choice, he forcefully said another lie to Emu before he took his leave. Unbeknownst to him, Emu was still trying to trust Kiriya without his notice. [The Reason for Some Lies!]

The truth about the Doctor Rider System

Dan telling Kiriya

Dan talks with Kiriya below a bridge.

"In order to use the Gamer Driver...one has to undergo the Compatibility Surgery. Did you know that? We have both undergone that surgery to become Kamen Riders."
"And what about that?"
"It seems like there's someone who's able to transform even without undergoing that surgery. Mysterious, don't you think?"
"Emu Hojo."
―Kiriya realize Emu is the only one who never received a compatibility surgery.[src]

Kiriya contacted Kuroto Dan, to presumably black-mail him. Then, Dan appeared below a bridge, and meet Kiriya. Kiriya angrily states that thanks to Dan's plotting, everyone now labeled him as a liar. Dan simply said that he deserves that. Kiriya gives a fake laugh and asks who is the guy that substituting him. Dan said that it's none of Kiriya's business anyway. So, Kiriya and Dan finally transformed into Lazer Chambara Bike Gamer Level 3 and Genm Sports Action Gamer Level 3 and fight.

As Genm is finally overpowered by Lazer's sheer power. They decide to end the match using Giri Giri Critical Finish & Shakariki Critical Strike, which ended in a draw. Kiriya asked why did Dan ally with the Bugsters, Dan said that it's to know the origin of the Bugsters, the same Kiriya wants to do. Dan also mentioned that for the one who becomes a Kamen Rider, they must undergo a compatibility surgery. Which means all of them had undergone that surgery, except for one. Kiriya realized that the one Dan talking about is none other than the Genius Gamer himself, Emu Hojo. [Men, Fly High!]

The Drago Knight Hunters

Kiriya investigate Kyotaro Hinata

Kiriya secretly investigates the truth behind the 16 years ago.

""It'd be inconvenient to me if you died...for now."
"Why are you here?"
"I need to confirm something with you. It seems you performed surgery on Emu Hojo 16 years ago. But Sensei...Did you really save his life?""
―Kiriya suspect Kyotaro.[src]

His curiosity piqued, Kiriya began searching for the cause of Emu's unique condition. Under the guise of determining a cause of death, Kiriya got Emu's medical records from the hospital and began investigating the only surgery in the records. The search led him to Kyotaro Hinata, the current director of the Ministry of Health and the surgeon who performed the operation. Kiriya found Hinata in CR due to the latter's Bugster infection, but it is unknown what information he learned. [Beat Up the Dragon!]

Kiriya witnessed

Kiriya witnessed the widespread infection caused by Graphite.

Soon after, Kiriya witnessed the widespread infection caused by Graphite, threatening to cause a second Zero Day. Transforming into Lazer Chambara Bike Gamer Level 3, joined Brave Level 2 and Snipe Combat Shooting Gamer Level 3 in fighting Graphite. However, Graphite's increased strength from the Proto Drago Knight Hunter Z Gashat, combined with Brave and Snipe's squabbling, rendered the three Riders no match for the Bugster. Lazer was able to take the Gekitotsu Robots Gashat from Snipe during the commotion. Back in the real world, the three were approached by the apologetic Emu, who asked for their help in using the Drago Knight Hunter Z Gashat. Hiiro refused out of pride, Taiga wasn't interested in playing doctor, and Kiriya cited Emu's condition as a reason not to trust him.

"Time for a ride!"
―Lazer's word before he defeated Graphite.[src]

Later that night, Emu called Kiriya, offering him the Drago Knight Hunter Z Gashat. However, Kiriya arrived the next day to find that Emu had tricked him, Taiga, and Hiiro by offering them the Gashat as well. Emu offered the Gashat to whoever could beat him first. Transforming into Lazer Chambara Bike Gamer Level 3, Kiriya joined the other two Riders in fighting Ex-Aid Hunter Action Gamer Level 5 Full Dragon. Eventually, they were able to separate the Hunter Gamer from Ex-Aid and attacked it. Much to their surprise, Hunter Gamer split into four virtual Gashats, one for each Rider. Ex-Aid explained his true plan: getting the four together to see who could take out Graphite. Transforming into their Level 5 forms, the Riders were finally able to fight on par with Graphite, although their lack of cohesion got in the way. Ultimately, the four were able to defeat Graphite once and for all, although none could agree on who delivered the final blow. [Uneven Doctors!]

The Reveal of the Black Ex-Aid

[Who's the Black Kamen Rider?]

Lazer's final fight

"Emu... I leave the fate...of humanity on this planet in your hands. Don't forget. As long as you keep smiling,...you will be who you are! Your fate...Emu...You can change it!"
―Kiriya's last words to Emu before he died[src]

Kiriya was about to leave when Emu called him. Emu said that he felt ashamed that he had doubted Kiriya and that he'll trust Kiriya from now on. Kiriya complies gleefully and asked Emu to return Shuuhei's smile. Later, Kiriya visited a prison and met with Kuroto's father, Dan Masamune, the previous CEO of Genm Corp. From Masamune, Kiriya learned the origin of the Bugster virus, and that Kuroto had masterminded both outbreaks. Using the information he had learned, Kiriya was able to synthesize a method to reprogram the Bugster virus, which he stored on his laptop.

After completing this program, Kiriya asked the other three Riders to meet him in a warehouse, intending to share his findings with them. However, before any of them arrived he was confronted by Kuroto Dan, who demanded to know what Kiriya had asked his father. Kiriya revealed that he had uncovered everything Kuroto had been trying to hide: Emu was Patient Zero of the Bugster virus, and that he had uncovered a way to destroy the Bugster for good. Pretending to accept defeat, Dan offered the Dangerous Zombie Gashat as a "Christmas present" in exchange for Kiriya's silence. Kiriya took the Gashat but transformed into Lazer Level 1, determined to bring Kuroto to justice. However, when Kiriya inserted the Zombie Gashat into his Gamer Driver, the Gashat consumed his Rider Gauge, leaving him with very little Gauge energy. Kuroto took the Gashat back, claiming that Kiriya is indeed a stupid person. With the empowered Gashat, the Gashacon Bugvisor and the Bugster Buckle, Kuroto transformed into Genm Zombie Gamer Level X. Having no choice, Kiriya transformed into Lazer Level 3 to fight Genm.

Dying Kiriya

Kiriya dies in front of the 3 other Riders and Asuna.

File:41482621652T0289004.jpg

Kiriya gives Emu his Gamer Driver and Bakusou Bike Gashat.

Weakened from the Zombie Gashat and dealing with a significant level gap, Lazer was completely overpowered by Genm. Genm even stole Lazer's Gashacon Sparrow and throws Giri Giri Chambara away when Lazer tried to finish him with Giri Giri Critical Finish. Genm then performs a Critical End and depletes Lazer's Rider Gauge to zero. Kiriya's transformation was canceled, and despite being badly beaten up, he still tried desperately to fight Genm, to no avail. As Emu, Hiiro, Asuna, and Taiga came to the battle location, Kiriya apologized to Jungo and said that he'll soon join him in the afterlife. As Genm left, Kiriya's body started to dissolve. Knowing that he wouldn't have time to tell them his findings, Kiriya used the last of his strength to give Emu his Gamer Driver and Bakusou Bike Gashat. Kiriya said to Emu that he believed in him and that the fate of humanity was in his hands before finally dying, dissolving into data while Emu wept over him in the heavy rain and the others looked on in shock. [Christmas Special: Targeting the Silver X mas!]

Post-mortem

Before his death, Kiriya had already left behind valuable data on programming which can counteract the infection of the Bugster Virus. It was revealed that he was looking for a way to stop the Bugsters by searching for the very first strain of the Bugster virus, which turned out to be Emu. He stored this data onto his personal laptop, which his colleague Yoshitaka would later give to Hiiro. This program was later used as the main component for the creation of the incomplete Maximum Mighty X Gashat, [Engineered History!] which would be used by Emu/M to access the Maximum Gamer Level 99 and defeat Dan. [To The Max, Dead or Alive!]

Revival

Hiiro is tasked by Masamune to defeat Emu and obtain Kiriya's Gamer Driver. Masamune then revives Kiriya as a Bugster to become his "left-hand man" against Parad and Graphite. Kiriya uses the Bakusou Bike Gashat to become Kamen Rider Lazer Turbo, Level 0. [Accomplished Rebirth!]

Kiriya is able to use the Proto Shakariki Sports Gashat and Proto Jet Combat Gashat to access his upgraded forms, defeating Kuroto Dan in their first encounter after his revival. In his second battle with Emu, Kiriya uses Aranbura as a meat shield to absorb Emu's Maximum Mighty Critical Finish, before Emu slashes Kiriya with the same finisher, hence trying to reprogram him. This was, however, proved wrong, as Kiriya kicked Emu in the face and confirmed that he obeyed Cronus' orders of his own free will. He then grabbed Emu by the collar and whispered something which made Emu mad and punched him, exclaiming that Kiriya is not his friend anymore. Later, after Cronus helped Kiriya to escape, Kiriya was seen standing in the rain and showing an ambiguous but enthusiastic smile. [Rescue the Partner!]

"Oh? Taken for a ride?"
―Kiriya's words to Masamune upon revealing his real allegiance[src]

The next day, Kiriya, with Masamune and Hiiro fight against Emu, Kuroto, and Taiga. When Masamune introduced Taddle Legacy, Kuroto introduced Hyper Muteki as his anti-Kamen Rider Chronicle solution. But when Emu used it, it suddenly went haywire and removed, leaving Kuroto to use its second ability to allow a player to be invincible for 10 seconds. Noticing the weak point and the scariest power of Hyper Muteki, Masamune stole it when the Invincibility time was running out. Back in GENM Corp head office, Kiriya becomes curious about Masamune's plan to make a quest on defeating himself. Masamune plans to increase the victims of Kamen Rider Chronicle because of agony to save their dearest one in-game, thus making the lost lives as a new 'treasures' for the new players. Learning that, Kiriya asks for his own proto Giri Giri Chambara Gashat to finish off Emu alongside Hyper Muteki, Masamune does give Kiriya his Proto Giri Giri Chambara Gashat, but he didn't want to give Hyper Muteki Gashat since he wanted to see how Kiriya settles things with Emu.

At the promised date to conquer Cronus, Kiriya fights Emu again while Masamune faced off the Ride Players and he won using Proto Giri Giri Chambara Gashat in Gashacon Sparrow. To finish Emu off, he asks for Hyper Muteki from Masamune. When Masamune gave the Gashat, Kuroto, Taiga, Nico, and Asuna appeared. Before Masamune was able to finish off the Ride Players, Emu Transformed into Maximum Gamer and attempt to stop him. But, when Masamune is about to use Pause, Kiriya attacks Masamune instead and gives Hyper Muteki to Emu after he injected himself with Parado's virus inside Asuna's Gashacon Bugvisor II so he can reclaim his ability as Genius Gamer "M" once more (the reason why Emu unable to use Hyper Muteki was because he reprogrammed Parado to be a total separated being and making Emu lost his gamer skill), leading him to victory using Muteki Gamer.

Kiriya got the Proto Gashats

Kiriya has the Proto Gashats.

After the battle, Kiriya revealed that what he has done is all a ruse to take all the Proto Gashats back to CR. To make sure his plan wasn't ruined, he whispered to Emu to "Play along with his lie" so no one suspects him. Despite Kiriya's return, however, Kiriya's feeling towards Kuroto still has not changed as he tells Kuroto that he will settle his revenge with another way and will not forgive him. Kuroto even challenged Kiriya that he didn't need any forgiveness from Kiriya and will never ask about it anyway. [Perfect Invincible GAMER!]

Kiriya was among the horde who were afflicted by the virus of Super Gamedeus, regressing to a rampaging Bugster Virus that menaced Kamen Rider Brave. However, he was cured by Poppy as she sacrificed her own existence to eliminate Super Gamedeus's horde through Doctor Mighty XX. In her last words to him, Poppy told Kiriya not to lie so much. Assuming the Proto Combat Bike Gamer, Lazer Turbo joined Ex-Aid and the other Riders in the fight against Super Gamedeus but was unable to affect the behemoth until Emu remembered Asuna's advice and rallied his fellow Riders in reverting to Level 1, allowing them to separate Masamune from Super Gamedeus, which was neutralized by Doctor Mighty XX through the sacrifice of Parado. Masamune, however, still held the power of Cronus and, with the access to Emu's Muteki Gamer gone, declared that the doctor Riders would face a "Bad End." [The Last Smile]

Assuming the Proto Sports Bike Gamer, Kiriya engaged the elder Dan in one final stand with the other Riders only to be swiftly overwhelmed with their strongest Gashats flying loose. Initiating Pause, Cronus, seemingly victorious, was shockingly beaten back by Ex-Aid, who revealed that Parado's sacrifice had weakened him. Reverting to Level 2, Lazer and his fellow Riders ultimately succeeded in finally defeating Cronus, however, they were unable to stop Masamune from destroying the Rider Chronicle Master Gashat with himself in a final act of spite, robbing them of their chance to retrieve the Game Disease victims from the Proto Gashats. Back at CR, Kiriya was assigned by Haima Kagami to a new partnership program with Genm Corp. to develop specialized treatments for each Bugster virus strain. Listening to a televised speech given by Emu speech on behalf of the Ministry of Health, Kiriya learned that he was recorded among those who succumbed to the Game Disease following Zero Day, to his surprise and amusement. Arriving at Genm Corp., Kiriya met with the new CEO, Tsukuru Koboshi, with whom he would begin work on creating vaccines to neutralize the Bugster viruses starting with Salty. [Endless Game]

Kamen Rider Ex-Aid "Tricks": Virtual Operations

Following the brutal attack he sustained from Genm, Kiriya was left bedridden at Seito Hospital and forced to recover his injuries into the night. Unaware to him, Dan came to his room where he secretly put the VR device to Kiriya's head, taking the Bakusou Bike Gashat which he used to install a simulation in which Kiriya woke up, already holding his Bakusou Bike Gashat and his Gamer Driver. Surprised to be confronted by Genm, Kiriya was ordered to transform so his spec data could be recorded. Though confused and realizing Genm's true identity, Kiriya nevertheless transformed into Kamen Rider Lazer Bike Gamer Level 1.

However, before he could act, Genm took control over his body for unknown reasons and prompted him to transform into Bike Gamer Level 2. Genm then took a seat on the Bike Gamer Lazer, pulling the Bakusou Bike Gashat out of his Driver and inserting it to his Kimewaza Slot Holder. He pressed the holder switch once before he moved away from Lazer, causing him to panic before Genm pressed the switch again, activating the Bakusou Critical Strike, causing Lazer to accelerate uncontrollably and hit a wall, effectively finishing the simulation. Before Dan took his leave, he threatened Kiriya to not to expose his true identity to everyone and also that he did not want to see his face ever again. Enduring a "nightmare", Kiriya trembled in fear. [Lazer Chapter]

Kamen Sentai Gorider

As part of Kuroto's plan to revive himself in a backup game, Kiriya was revived alongside other deceased past Riders, such as Kaito Kumon, Yoko Minato and Kaoru Kino to have their negative energies absorbed. With Emu's arrival to clear the game, Kuroto manipulated the event to his advantage by impersonating Kazuma Kenzaki and had been doing this more than a single occasion, evidenced by Emu's memory of being killed several times. When the other three Riders began to suspect Emu as the mastermind, Kiriya was the only one to maintain his trust due to their friendship back then.

When Emu managed to unmask "Kenzaki" as Kuroto(with the real person emerges as well), Kiriya teamed up with the remaining Riders as they utilized the Goriders cards and sacrificed their only chance of revival for both Emu and Kenzaki to escape to the real world.

Kamen Rider Ex-Aid "Tricks": Kamen Rider Lazer

Sometime before Kiriya's death, he managed to get his hands on Bakusou Treasure, an RPG game that served as a prototype engine to Kamen Rider Chronicle. His data was saved into the game as a supporting character for the player. In the second gameplay, Emu puts his skills as Genius Gamer M to use but was ditched by Kiriya when Genm attacked him by surprise. After tricking Kiriya's program into confessing the truth, the two cooperated for real by outsmarting Genm and Emu using one of the Proto Gashats to defeat it. Despite the game being cleared, Lazer's copy steals the Proto Gashats from Emu, leaving him puzzled.

Meanwhile, in the Game World, the black jacket Kiriya proclaims to start the race as he glared upon the Bakusou Bike Proto Gashat.

Genm vs. Lazer

"Do you not understand even a tiny bit of how precious life is, and of the victim's regrets?"
"That's why I'm giving the people a chance to restore the lives of the people who have vanished. Whether it's a happy ending or a bad ending...is up to the players. That's what a game is!"
"How is this a game? Their lives might have been stored as data, but Jungo wasn't... No matter how godly your talent, his life... his life can never be restored!"
―Kiriya Kujo to Kuroto Dan after being defeated by the latter.[src]

"All of this tragedy began with you. No matter how much Game illness treatments progress, as long as you exist... Game illnesses will never stop threatening humanity. This world isn't your toy."
―Kiriya confronts Kuroto following Masamune Dan's second death.[src]

"Let's finish this. On that Christmas, I lost to you... with this Gashat."
―Kiriya before transforming into Lazer Level X.[src]

Kiriya visited Jungo's grave, telling him about the journey he had as a Kamen Rider for the past few months. After, he encountered what appeared to be Genm in his Level X form attacking the public and went to stop him. Kuroto seemingly appeared but told him he is the guide to the game Zombie Chronicle. The guide explains that these Genms are Zombie Gamers that will attack civilians and turn them into zombies. Those who manage to defeat one of the Gamers will, in turn, revive a person who was vanished into data. Kiriya, once again annoyed by Kuroto's antics, drives off to stop the game. Along the way, he saves Saiko Yaotome, who questions his actions when she had betrayed CR for her own selfishness. He tells her that if she really wanted to honor her late father, she should continue furthering the advancements of regenerative medicine and takes off. He manages to find the real Kuroto, with Kiriya figuring out that if he destroys the God Maximum Mighty X Gashat, it will end the game. The latter welcomes his challenge and gives him the Proto Gashats of Shakariki Sports and Jet Combat and the two begin their fight. While Lazer is able to get a few hits in and has incredible speed, Genm's raw power and use of Cosmic Chronicle to create meteors and heat energy outmatch him and is easily defeated. Before Genm leaves, Kiriya wonders if he has no hint of empathy after his time at CR and says despite his "godly" talents, he can never bring back Jungo. Suddenly, Kamen Rider Cronus appears when he uses Stage Select and challenges Genm. But not even Cronus's power can withstand Level 1,000,000,000 and is quickly defeated as well. Masamune Dan pleads to Kiriya to stop his son at all costs and he vanishes into data once more while transferring some of into Bugvisor II.

Kiriya visits Emu, who has been hospitalized due to Black Parado attacking him telling him about the events that transpired. He decides to leave his doctor's coat with Emu, stating he doesn't want it getting dirty. But Emu figures out that he did that because Kiriya figured that his fight with Kuroto would surely kill him and he warns Parado, Asuna, and Saiko, who decided to take Kiriya's advice, about it. Kiriya manages to find Kuroto glaring down at the city, stating that this time it will be the former who will lose. Kiriya pulls out Bugvisor II and Giri Giri Chambara Gashat and transforms into Lazer Level X, much to Kuroto's surprise in which Kiriya lightly states that Lazer Level X is a Gift from late Masamune Dan, much to Kuroto dismay. The two begin their second fight, with Genm still at an advantage and begins questioning Lazer's supposed pointless interference. After a long intense match, the two use their finishers, with Lazer aiming for Genm's driver. While it does nothing at first, the Gashat begins to degrade in power, with the God maximum Gamer disappearing to thin air much to Genm's shock with Lazer explaining how the Bugvisor now has Masamune's Reset ability after he vanished. A frustrated Genm angrily lunges at Lazer, with the two fighting until night time in the rain.

After delivering a final punch from both sides, the two revert back with Emu barely arriving at the scene. Kiriya explains that Kuroto created Zombie Chronicle in hopes of bringing back his mother and that he could only trust his own abilities after the medical field failed in saving her. With his final breath, Kuroto tells Kiriya and Emu that he denounces his title of Kuroto Dan Shin and admits to being just Kuroto Dan. He loses his last life and vanishes into data, leaving only his driver and Gashat. Kiriya faints but not before telling Emu to keep helping people in his stead, seemingly about to disappear as well in Emu’s arms. Somehow, he later wakes up in the hospital, surprised to still be alive. Saiko explains that the God Maximum Mighty X Gashat was able to heal him and actually helped Kiriya get back his original human body, leading to more advancements in regenerative medicine. Emu and Asuna tell Kiriya that Kuroto wanted to be defeated and genuinely had good intentions, with the latter tearing up at his foe's sacrifice. He later paid a visit to their last battlefield, bringing a bouquet of flowers as intended to remember Kuroto. Suddenly a vision of Kuroto telling Kiriya that his games will never end. Kiriya smiles and says that the two will surely meet again one day and walks away. [Kamen Rider Genm vs. Lazer]

Kamen Rider Heisei Generations Forever

File:Bikibashoun.jpg

In the motorbike rider scene, Ex-Aid comes with a Kamen Rider Lazer Bike Gamer LV2.

Personality

Kiriya is an easy-going man whose lighthearted attitude hides a sharp intellect and cunning nature. As such, he is a manipulative individual and also a very convincing liar who will use dirty tactics to get what he wants, including deceit and sabotage. His deceitful personality actually developed from the trauma he experienced five years ago when his friend Jungo died from an accident when he freaked out over the possibility of dying from the Bugster infection. He also states to Emu and the others that he just tried to protect all of them from the harsh truth, showing that he actually didn't want his comrades to get hurt.

However, he still cares for his patients as shown when he found out that Nishiwaki's sister was kidnapped by Graphite and also Yoshio. But even then it did not stop being opportunistic and self-serving. He had the habitual quirk to drape his dull red leather jacket over his shoulders without putting his arms through the sleeves, and to wear round sunglasses whenever he is observing something, but he'll put his jacket on properly and discard his sunglasses whenever he needs to be serious or fight.

Kiriya's fake laugh

Kiriya taunts himself.

But despite his tremendous mental strengths, Kiriya suffers from a great deal of pride that he gets from the knowledge he obtains. This, in turn, causes him to become blind to his own weaknesses and the strengths of the people he believes to have leverage on. When he is serious enough, he won't lie. However, if someone outsmarts him or the situation turns against him to give the impression that he had been lying, he'll resort back to lying. This often leads to him casually claiming that he did, in fact, lie before instead of trying to defend his innocence, showing that he doesn't really care what other people think of him.

After returning back from the dead, Kiriya's personality doesn't change. His ability of lying is also his greatest advantage, as shown when he feigns his allegiance with Masamune Dan, the latter of whom is unaware of Kiriya's deception after reviving him.

Powers and Abilities

Abilities:

Take a note that the power and the weakness which Kiriya acquire here is only when he had been revived as a Bugster. After the events of Another Ending, Kiriya had been turned back into human:

  • Acquired Game Illness Immunity: As a result of the standard compatibility surgery for CR candidates, Kiriya Kujo is immune to the Game Illness and able to transform into a Kamen Rider to fight the Bugsters.
  • Bugster Ability Restriction: One of the functions of Level 0 Gashats. Kiriya can seal certain abilities of Bugsters who are in his game area.
    • Teleportation: Kiriya can teleport himself for simple travel or evade incoming assaults.
    • Virus Neutralization: Thanks to Level 0's power being over nothingness, by touching any Gashacon equipment with a Bugster virus, Kiriya can neutralize the virus. This was demonstrated when he touched Cronus's Buggle Driver II containing Gamedeus's virus data.

Weakness

  • Level 0: As stated by its name, Level 0 is the weakest level among all the levels, making Kiriya extremely vulnerable to any type of attacks, even the orthodox attacks can deal great damage on him. This disadvantage can be covered by utilizing advanced-level Gashats.

This form's finisher is the Bakusou Critical Strike (爆走クリティカルストライク, Bakusō Kuritikaru Sutoraiku, Roaring Critical Strike):

  • Weight: 98.0 kg

Ability Perimeters:[9][10]

  • Punching power: 23.0 t
  • Kicking power: 29.0 t
  • Maximum jump height: 52.1 m
  • Maximum running speed: 100 m per 2.1 seconds

Bike Gamer Level 0 (バイクゲーマーレベル0, Baiku Gēmā Reberu Zero) is Lazer Turbo's physical fighter form, activated by inserting Masamune's copy of the Bakusou Bike Gashat and pulling the lever on the Gamer Driver.

This form has what looks like a palette swap of Ex-Aid's body with Lazer's humanoid head from his Level 5 form and under his Level 3 form's gold mask.

The reason why this copy accesses Level 0 instead of Levels 1 and 2 may have to do with his Gashat having functions to Proto Mighty Action X Gashat. Much like Genm Level 0, Lazer Turbo also has the ability to nullify the Bugster virus.

After obtaining the Proto Giri Giri Chambara Gashat from Masamune, Lazer Turbo is also able to wield the Gashacon Sparrow in this form, even without transforming into Proto Chambara Bike Gamer beforehand.

Lazer Turbo Level 0 is overall stronger, can jump higher, and run faster than both Lazer Level 3 and Level 5 by small margins.

Empowered with the Hyper Muteki Gashat when inserted into the Gamer Driver's secondary slot, Lazer Turbo temporarily activates a Muteki Mode (ムテキモード, Muteki Mōdo) which grants the Rider using it 10 seconds of invincibility. Lazer Turbo using Muteki Mode is exclusive to Ganbarizing.

In Heisei Generations FINAL, Lazer Turbo transforms into this form by using the Kamen Rider Build (Game) Gashat in the Gamer Driver's second slot along with the Bakusou Bike Gashat. The Kamen Rider Build Gashat has the ability to neutralize the Enigma's power, which was preventing the Ex-Aid Riders from transforming.

This form has 2 finishers

  • Bakusou Critical Strike (爆走クリティカルストライク, Bakusō Kuritikaru Sutoraiku, Roaring Critical Strike): Lazer Turbo summons the Bike Gamer, and rams the enemy with it.
  • Shakariki Critical Finish (シャカリキクリティカルストライク, Shakariki Kuritikaru Finisshu, Enthusiastic Critical Finish):

This form gives Lazer Turbo another massive boost in punching, kicking and jumping power, though when compared with Proto Sports Bike Gamer, his running speed and jumping height are lowered by a bit.

However, to compensate this, Lazer Turbo gains flying abilities and boasts more firepower from the machine guns of Proto Combat Gamer.

Unlike the original Jet Combat, the Proto Combat Gamer doesn't give Lazer Turbo a headpiece.

This form's finisher is the Jet Critical Strike (ジェットクリティカルストライク, Jetto Kuritikaru Sutoraiku):

Level X (レベルX, Reberu Ekkusu) is Kamen Rider Lazer's second final form accessed by inserting the Giri Giri Chambara Gashat into the Buggle Driver II. Similar to Genm, this form is also refered as Lazer X.

Despite being called Level X, in this form Lazer completely eclipses previous Level X Riders, being even more powerful than Para-DX Level 99. Brave at Level 100 barely outperforms Lazer Level X in terms of punching and kicking power as well as jumping height, but Lazer is still considerably faster. Using this form, Lazer was able to defeat Genm in his God Maximum Gamer Level 1000000000 form.

Kamen Rider Lazer Level X has the following parts:

  • LZ Head-X (LZヘッド-X, LZ Heddo-X) - Kamen Rider Lazer Chanbara Gamer Level X Head.
    • Eye Light Scope (アイライトスコープ, Ai Raito Sukōpu) - Kamen Rider Lazer's "eyes". It can emit light for night battles and can also capture images comparable to a high- speed camera. It can also observe the microscopic Bugster Virus.
    • Spike Ride Helm (スパイクライドヘルム, Supaiku Raido Herumu) - Helmet to protect Kamen Rider Lazer Chanbara Gamer's head. It is modeled after the player character of Bakusou Bike and is coated with a blast-resistant coating.
    • Signal React Spikes (シグナリアクトスパイク, Shiguna Riakuto Supaiku) - Spikes on Kamen Rider Lazer's head. The spikes are sharp enough to cause damage with a headbutt. It can capture and identify motion and set tracking markers automatically. The radar on the internal monitor shows the positions of enemies, allies and energy items.
    • Limiter Blade (リミッターブレード, Rimittā Burēdo) - The gold crest on Kamen Rider Lazer Chanbara Gamer's head. Allows Lazer to add the damage received to his own attack. It can only be used at 2% or less rider gauge.
    • Kabuto Aoha Ganate (カブトアオハガネイト, Kabuto Aoha Ganeito) - Blue parts on the helmet. It has a high-performance shock absorbing device to protect Lazer's head.
    • Air Fresh Guard (エアフレッシュガード, Ea Furesshu Gādo) - An intake system within the helmet that filters out harmful substances in the air. It also regulates the suit's temperature and allow for underwater breathing.
  • Mech Life Guard (メックライフガード, Mekku Raifu Gādo) - Kamen Rider Lazer's chest armor. It disperses damage throughout the body to protect the chest. It becomes more protective the lower the rider's health.
  • X Controller (エクスコントローラー, Ekusu Kontorōrā) - Management module on the chest. It transitions to debug mode and systems control when activating the special attack.
  • Rider Gauge (ライダーゲージ, Raidā Gēji) - A lifebar that shows the rider's health. When the gauge runs out, the rider will die.
  • X Gear Suit (エキサギアスーツ, Ekisa Gia Sūtsu) - Kamen Rider Lazer's bodysuit. It increases the rider's physical capability by strengthening the body. It uses the Bugster Virus to increase the rider's physical capability. The agility focused adjustments increase the rider's reaction time and the rider's skills will be reflected as attack power.
  • Kenbu Aoha Ganate (ケンブアオハガネイト, Kenbu Aoha Ganeito, lit. "Sword Dance Blue Ganate") - Kamen Rider Lazer's shoulder armor. A posture controlling device is built-in, utilizing an air injector that allows air to pass through, allowing Lazer to utilize graceful elegant techniques in mid-air despite the bulky armor.
  • LZ Growth Arm (LZグロウスアーム, LZ Gurousu Āmu) - Kamen Rider Lazer's arms. It has a function called Gain Riser (ゲインライザー, Gein Raizā) that increases combat capabilities based on the rider's level and combat experience. The arms specialize in stealth attacks with the Gashacon Sparrow.
  • End Fight Glove (エンドファイトグローブ, Endo Faito Gurōbu) - Kamen Rider Lazer's gloves. It coordinates with the Gashacon weapons to optimize attacks. Lazer can consume his own Rider Gauge to execute a special attack that consumes the enemies' gauge by the same amount.
  • LZ Growth Leg (LZグロウスレッグ, LZ Gurousu Reggu) - Kamen Rider Lazer's legs. It has a function called Gain Riser (ゲインライザー, Gein Raizā) that increases combat capabilities based on the rider's level and combat experience. They allow Lazer to execute feint attacks and spinning attacks with high-speed steps.
  • End Fight Shoes (エンドファイトシューズ, Endo Faito Shūzu) - Kamen Rider Lazer's shoes. It enables acrobatic movement such as airborne flight, adjustment of drop timing, and two-step jumps. Lazer can consume his own Rider Gauge to execute a special attack that consumes the enemies' gauge by the same amount.
  • Yoroi Aoha Ganate (ヨロイアオハガネイト, Yoroi Aoha Ganeito, lit. "Armor Blue Ganate") - Kamen Rider Lazer Chanbara Gamer's black and gold armor pieces. They have excellent protection against blades and physical attacks. They rewrite the Gain Riser and dramatically raise attack and defense.

This form's finisher is the Critical Crews-Aid: Lazer crouches down as he gathers blue & yellow energy in his right leg, then does a flying side kick in the air.

Due to Masamune Dan imbuing the Buggle Driver II with his own Reset ability, this form was specifically designed to defeat Genm in his Level 1000000000 form, as it has the ability to reformat and reset a Rider's powers. Through this, Genm's God Maximum Gamer armor was dissolved via Lazer's Critical Crews-Aid finisher.

This form is exclusive to Kamen Rider Ex-Aid Trilogy: Another Ending: Kamen Rider Genm vs. Lazer.

  • Super Antenna Antennae (超触角アンテナ, Chō Shokkaku Antena) - The antennae. They can intercept communications by capturing radio waves within a 5km radius. They can contact the other Goriders or allies.
  • C Eye (C・アイ, C Ai) - The compound eyes. In detects heat sources and body reactions, and utilizes this information to target enemies that move at high speed.

  • Power Amplification Boots (パワー増幅ブーツ, Pawā Zōfuku Būtsu) - The boots. They enhance the wearer's kicks via electrical stimulation.
  • Typhoon (タイフーン, Taifūn) - Ki-Rider's transformation belt. By spinning the windmill device within the center via wind energy, energy is produced, allowing transformation and deathblows.
  • Energy Converter (エナージコンバーター, Enāji Konbātā) - Two silver devices located on either side of the Typhoon. They store energy produced by Ki-Rider.

This form is exclusive to Kamen Sentai Gorider "Maze 3: Gorider Forever".

Relationships

Ministry of Health:

  • Emu Hojo: Kiriya is interested in Emu because of his gaming skill and personality. Of all the Gamer Riders, Kiriya finds Emu to be the best candidate for him to work with, despite Kiriya's constant lies when conversing with him. In reality, Kiriya had put all of his faith into Emu, especially after learning that the latter was patient zero of the Bugster virus, believing that Emu had what it takes to end the Bugster threat once and for all. For that, Kiriya proved to be the best friend Emu could ever have. And this could also be seen from Kiriya entrusting Emu with his Gamer Driver right before his death, as well as the important data he had left behind, which would later prove to be a valuable asset to the Riders with the creation of Maximum Mighty X. Ever since Kiriya was brought back to life, his treatment towards Emu was harsh. In fact, Emu tried to save Kiriya using the reprogramming but realizes it was Kiriya's will to join Masamune Dan. Their relationship is strained after Kiriya whispered to Emu about a secret in their last battle. In Kamen Sentai Gorider, he is the only one aside from "Kenzaki" to trust Emu after the other three deceased Riders suspected him as a traitor. However, this trust is put into questioning when, after his revival, Kiriya reveals that he has been working for Masamune Dan under his own volition. This gets subverted however when it is revealed that Kiriya was secretly working to get the Proto Gashats back and his traitorous behavior is simply a ruse to keep Masamune convinced that he's joining his side.
  • Hiiro Kagami: Kiriya had a hard time getting close with Hiiro as Hiiro never believed in Kiriya due to his lies. This is shown when Hiiro states that Kiriya's friend, Jungo, is not a victim of Zero Day, but rather of a mere accident. After Kuroto reveals himself as Kamen Rider Genm, Hiiro then finally believes what Kiriya had been trying to warn the Riders what he saw before. Eventually, they continued to work together after Cronus' defeat.
  • Taiga Hanaya: Kiriya viewed Taiga as a dangerous person to approach and hardly asked for his co-operation. Taiga is the only Gamer Driver user that Kiriya never got close with. After Kuroto reveals himself as Kamen Rider Genm, Taiga then finally believes what Kiriya had been trying to warn the Riders what he saw before.
  • Asuna Karino/Poppy Pipopapo

Genm Corp:

  • Kuroto Dan: At first, Kiriya tried to make use of Kuroto to discover the truth behind the Bugster invasion, especially Zero Day. However, after learning the truth of Kuroto as Genm, he becomes Kiriya's number one nemesis. This hatred is further enhanced after Dan tricked everyone to believe that Genm is Parado. Despite being enemies, Dan claims he created the Gamer Driver and Rider Gashats to find out how the Bugsters could exist in the real world, not unlike Kiriya's own goal of searching for the truth behind the Bugsters. Unfortunately, Kiriya and the other three doctor Riders were too late to notice and stop Kuroto's true plan to gather more battle data to create the Dangerous Zombie Gashat. Not long after discovering Emu's secret, Kuroto ultimately kills Kiriya, and stole his Gashacon Sparrow and the Giri Giri Chambara Gashat. In Kamen Sentai Gorider, Kiriya was among the four deceased Riders whose despair was harvested by Kuroto to get himself revived. Ironically when his virtual world was damaged by Joker's power, Kuroto begged to the deceased Riders for their help in exchange for their revival but neither of them including Kiriya complied to his wishes, having accepted their original fates instead. When revived in the series, Kiriya still sees Kuroto as his enemy, but he admits that he will put that aside as Kamen Rider Chronicle is more important than settling things with him. Eventually, Kiriya got his revenge on Kuroto by using the latter as a guinea pig for the Gamedeus vaccine, the end result being Doctor Mighty XX, and subsequently turning Kuroto to the Ministry of Health.[God Arrives!]
  • Masamune Dan: Kiriya first met Masamune when learning about the truth behind Emu's mysterious ability to transform without undergoing the compatibility surgery as well as the truth behind Zero Day, thus leading to his death shortly afterward at the hands of Masamune's son. During the events of Kamen Rider Chronicle, Masamune, after revealing himself as Kamen Rider Cronus, revives Kiriya as a Bugster, seemingly mind-controlled. In reality, however, Kiriya revealed to Emu that he is working for Masamune of his own free will, which later revealed to trick Masamune. Now Masamune beame his ultimate enemy after Kuroto.

Behind the Scenes

Portrayal

Kiriya Kujo is portrayed by Hayato Onozuka (小野塚 勇人, Onozuka Hayato). As Kamen Rider Lazer, his suit actor is Jiro Uchikawa (内川 仁朗, Uchikawa Jirō) in Level 1. His Level 2 form is based on a Honda CRF250L which is the same model as Machine Ghostriker. His suit actor from Chambara Bike Gamer Level 3 onwards, as well as Lazer Turbo Bike Gamer Level 0, is Satoshi Fujita (藤田 慧, Fujita Satoshi)[18].

Notes

  • Compared to the human users of Gamer Drivers, Kiriya is the only user who was never entitled to be a prodigy in a field he works.
  • Lazer is the first Kamen Rider to also be a Rider Machine.
    • He is also the second Rider to be able to transform into a bike after Accel.
    • Being a motorcycle that becomes a humanoid figure, he is also similar to the Auto Vajin.
  • His name is a play on the word "Racer" (レーサー, Rēsā).
  • As revealed in the Ex-Aid character book, Kiriya is 27 years old, making him the second oldest of the Gamer Riders.
  • Unlike other Ex-Aid Riders who pick up or gesture their Rider profile pics by hand while they transform, Kiriya kicks the profile pic instead. He later kicks the Giri Giri Chambara Gashat to initialize the transformation into Lazer X.
  • Lazer's headdress in Chambara Bike Gamer Level 3 is similar to Kamen Rider Agito. Both have a Dragon motif and are colored Gold.
  • Lazer is the only Rider in series whose Rider Gauge is still visible in Chambara Bike Gamer Level 3.
    • While in this form, Lazer has a second Rider Gauge on his shoulders, leftover from his Level 2 form. These do not function in Lazer's Level 3 and 5 forms, the function now transferred to the main Gauge on his chest.
  • Kiriya is also similar to Urataros from Kamen Rider Den-O due to their truth twisting tendencies. Unlike Urataros, whose lies convinces the Primary Rider, Kiriya is subjected to being called out even by Emu.
  • Kiriya is the only rider in the series whose main weapon took the longest to reveal itself.
  • Kiriya's death is currently the earliest out of the Neo Heisei era, which is even earlier than Kamen Rider Kurokage from Kamen Rider Gaim, who survived two more episodes than him.
    • However, while Kiriya was revived in the later part of the series (albeit as a Bugster), Hase only made a brief return in Gaim's summer movie.
  • Lazer's highest level form before his initial death was a Level 5 form, with his transformation catchphrase being "5th Gear". This is a possible reference to the fact that most motorcycles can only go up to fifth gear at maximum.
  • Lazer is the only non-Protagonist Rider to appear in all three Heisei Generations Series films.
