History[]

Background[]

Kazumi Sawatari was once the owner of his family's farm in Hokuto, with Akaba, Aoba and Kiba as his workers. However, as a result of the Sky Wall Tragedy, virtually all the farmland in the region was rendered infertile. Rather than lay off his workers, Kazumi used his savings to help his employees and their families. When Kazumi's resources were depleted, he willingly enlisted himself to be a test subject for Faust to further ensure his workers' survival.

Shortly before Hokuto invaded Touto for the Pandora Box, Kazumi was chosen to lead a strike team in charge of retrieving Touto's Fullbottles and Pandora Box panels. He was given a Sclash Driver by Soichi Isurugi, allowing to become Kamen Rider Grease. Feeling indebted to their boss for his sacrifice, his three workers became Hard Smash, forming the rest of his strike team.

"These are Hokuto's Fullbottles so I'm taking them back. But don't worry. I'll see you guys again soon... on the battlefield."
―Grease's first words to the Touto Riders[src]

Shortly before Hokuto's invasion on Touto, Kamen Rider Grease took an expedition to reclaim the Phoenix and Robot Fullbottles. While Build and Cross-Z engaged against Touto's Guardians, Grease swiftly destroyed the squad as he snatched the Fullbottles off of Build. Though he did not get a clear look at his assailant, Build deduced that he must be another Kamen Rider. Meanwhile, Grease watched Touto's Kamen Riders from a distance, well aware that he would soon face them on the "battlefield".

Kazumi preparing

Kazumi preparing to battle with Build and Cross-Z.

Kazumi as Kamen Rider Grease led the Hokuto advance into Touto once Prime Minister Yoshiko Tajimi declared war. Penetrating the Sky Wall, Grease destroyed many of the Touto Guardians. During an encounter with Ryuga Banjo, Kazumi destroyed the Strong Smash Hazard with a single punch with the Helicopter Fullbottle before leaving. Right when Cross-Z Charge and Build RabbitTank Sparkling had defeated the Hokuto Sanbagarasu, Kazumi showed up to challenge Touto's Kamen Riders with his own Sclash Driver. Kazumi would engage in a small rivalry with Cross-Z Charge as they would often fight each other during every encounter.

As Sento was falling behind due to his Hazard Level being slightly lower, he managed to achieve the Hazard Trigger to evolve into the Hazard Forms with the Best Matches. Unfortunately, the Hazard Trigger's effect took hold and sent Sento into a mindless rage and in the process, took Aoba's life. While Kazumi was too late to save Aoba, he held in in his final moments as he began to fade away, taking his blue dog tag as a memento. He recognized Sento had no had no control over his actions and chose to battle him properly in the proxy battle between Touto and Hokuto. On the night of their duel, Grease manages to get the upper hand on Build due to his "passion" but would lose after Sento used the Hazard Trigger. While he was saved at the last minute by Cross-Z Charge, Grease's defeat meant Touto had won the proxy battle and the war with Hokuto had come to a close.

Working with Touto[]

After his loss, Kazumi decided to return home with Akaba and Kiba, only to pause after meeting Misora Isurugi, whom he recognized as the internet sensation "Mii-tan" and begged for her autograph. However, word got out that Seito had launched an invasion to Hokuto as its forces are led by the Washio brothers. After a series of events that led to his farm workers being held hostage, Kiba was killed in the process. Kazumi would join forces with Sento and Banjo as Seito unveils Kamen Rider Rogue, revealed to be the previously exiled Gentoku Himuro. He was also invited to move into Nascita for the time being.

Once Seito's forces marched on Touto in an attempt to claim the Pandora Box, Kazumi was forced to bear witness to Akaba's death at the hands of Kamen Rider Rogue. With all three members of the Hokuto Sanbagarasu fallen, Kazumi stands with his new friends to protect the people as he carries the Hokuto Sanbagarasu's dog tags with him. As Touto engaged in a three-on-three representative battle against Seito, Kazumi participates in the first round against Engine Bro's and emerges victorious. When he learned Namba Heavy Industries is holding the Nabeshima family hostage, Kazumi managed to get them out of danger. Kazumi would be present as he watched as Kamen Rider Build use the power of the FullFull RabbitTank Fullbottle to defeat Rogue and end the war with Seito.

The Evolto Revolution[]

Although the war between Touto and Seito had come to a close, Blood Stalk decided to press on by raising the Pandora Tower from the Sky Wall. While the Kamen Riders march on against Seito's forces, they would be informed of Blood Stalk's true nature as Evolto, the alien responsible for the destruction of Mars. After the Kamen Riders reclaim the Pandora Box, Kazumi was placed in charge of safeguarding the relic at night. He was later threatened by Nariaki Utsumi to surrender it in exchange for his farm workers' lives, forcing Kazumi to make the painful decision to protect the Pandora Box instead. Fortunately, Rogue managed to free his workers, and they were able to arrive safely to Touto, where Kazumi helped them gain asylum.

After Evolto recovers the Evol-Driver and emerges as Kamen Rider Evol, Grease along with Build and Cross-Z Magma tried to fight him but get defeated by Evol's invincible strength. After a series of events that resulted in Banjo being possessed by Evolto, this left the option for Gentoku Himuro to officially join forces with the Kamen Riders. While Kazumi later engaged in a sparring match with Gentoku as he still never forgave him for killing Akaba, he decided to put aside his anger for the time being. While Banjo was eventually free from Evolto's influence, only to have possessed Sento instead and access Evol's Rabbit-based Phase 3 form. Nevertheless, this did not stop Grease from fighting Evol alongside Rogue and Great Cross-Z.

However, Evol managed to complete the Evol-Trigger from the Kamen Riders' powers and access his Black Hole form, jettisoning Sento. However, his memories of being Sento are gone and is reverted back into Takumi Katsuragi. Even with Namba Heavy Industries' alliance, the Kamen Riders were no match for Evol Black Hole. After sparing with Banjo as they prepare themselves for Evolto, Kazumi continued to fight Seito's forces as Grease. Although Katsuragi arrived with the completed Genius Fullbottle, he was unable to use it. Fortunately, Sento would resurface with his memories back and Kazumi would be present to witness Sento's first transformation in Kamen Rider Build Genius Form.

The Cold Endgame[]

Despite Sento regaining his memories, Kazumi is depressed after Evolto stole the Hokuto Sanbagarasu's Lost Bottles from him. This causes Sento to wonder why Evolto was collecting Fullbottles despite having already reached Black Hole form. Before Kazumi accompanies Sento to Hokuto to search for answers, Banjo gives him a Dragon Sclashjelly. While visiting the Katsuragi residence in Hokuto, they are suddenly intercepted by Owl Lost Smash, who turned out to be Hokuto Prime Minister Yoshiko Tajimi, and is saved by the Genius Bottle's effects. By plugging the Dragon Sclashjelly into his Sclash Driver, a powered-up Grease gains a second Twin Breaker.

Following Shinobu Katsuragi's resurface as Evolto's accomplice, Kazumi berates Sento for trying to justify his father's misdeeds. This was when Kazumi and Gentoku decided to raid a Faust experimentation site in order to increase their Hazard Levels using the Nebula Gas chambers. While this did increase their strength, the Nebula Gas overdose threatened to damage their bodies, a necessary risk that Kazumi and Gentoku agreed to take. When Sento attempted to fight Evol alone, Kazumi along with Banjo and Gentoku accompanied him in the ensuing fight with the alien. In the ensuing fight, Grease manages to help restrain Evol and allowing Build to unleash a devastating attack on Evolto, this still did not defeat Evolto for good.

During the Build Annihilation Plan, Grease attempted to protect Sento Kiryu from the amassed populace of Japan, who had been compelled to eliminate him, only to be overwhelmed by the angry mob. Kazumi and Gentoku were stripped of their Sclash Drivers and kept in confinement before being set free by Nariaki Utsumi, who made them beg to return their Drivers. Making their return, Grease joined in the final battle against the Blood Tribe with the Kamen Riders and defeated the Zebra Lost Smash.

Final Battle and Death[]

Evolto continued to collect the Lost Bottles to complete the Black Panel to evolve into a horrifying new monster form and announcing his intention to destroy Earth. Kazumi would join in Sento's plan to use the White Panel to merge their world with one where the Sky Wall did not exist, using Evolto himself as the catalyst. In preparation for the final battle, Kazumi asked Sento to create a new power-up item. It turned out that the Blizzard Knuckle was meant to be used by him in the first place, in conjunction with the North Blizzard Fullbottle. However, Sento hesitated in giving it to Kazumi due to his Hazard Level increase that could risk killing him. Kazumi promised he will only use it as a weapon since he technically doesn't have a Build Driver.

The death of Kazumi.

Shortly after Evolto's national television broadcast, the Kamen Riders raced up to Pandora Tower. Kazumi stayed behind to fight Evolto's replicants of the Hokuto Sanbagarasu, while rest of the team waited for Evolto at the top. After the clones overwhelm Grease by mimicing the real Sanbagarasu, Kazumi was left with no other choice but to transform with the Blizzard Knuckle with Shinobu's Build Driver. After apologizing to Sento for breaking his promise, Kazumi transforms into Grease Blizzard. While he gains the upper hand against the Sanbagarasu clones, Grease Blizzard begins to disintegrate but prolongs enough to defeat all three of them. In his final moments, Kazumi stood beside Misora and believes he'll finally reunite with his comrades in the afterlife, as he disintegrates into golden smoke.

Legacy[]

At the top of the Pandora Tower, Misora confirmed the others that Kazumi is now dead. The Nascita gang were all in shock and disbelief upon hearing the news. Misora was on her knees and cried hysterically, Sawa hugged her tearfully, Banjo punches the wall in grief, Gentoku screams in distraught, and Sento stood in guilt for giving Kazumi the Blizzard Knuckle in the first place. Misora was also shown keeping Kazumi's dog tags as a memento. Before Rogue sacrificed himself following on, he remembered how Kazumi eventually forgave him for Akaba's death and encouraged Gentoku to go back into politics.

New World[]

New Kazumi

Kazumi in the new world having been resurrected.

After Evolto was defeated for good and the new world had been created, Kazumi and the rest of the Hokuto Sanbagarasu were at Nascita, playfully discussing Kazumi's potential bride, saying she was as cute as an idol, and that Kazumi would fall for her "at first sight". Kazumi shrugged it off, stating that he wasn't that desperate until the girl in question, Misora, arrived. Kazumi exclaimed that the girl was cute and passed out, which then the Hokuto Sanbagarasu carry him out before Sento walks in.

Post-Series & Other Events[]

Build NEW WORLD: Kamen Rider Cross-Z[]

Sometime after the creation of the New World, Kazumi settled his mundane life as a farmer. However, due to the appearance of Killbus, his memories of the previous world were restored once the Pandora Box was reactivated. Reuniting with his allies once more, Kazumi becomes Kamen Rider Grease and assists Banjo as they battle Kamen Rider Killbus. The next day, Grease and Rogue help Cross-Z defeat Killbus, while holding off the Smash.

I Heard the Idol Otaku is Dating His Fav[]

Kazumi was asked to be in an outing with Misora, under the assumption of a date. Kazumi wore a tuxedo and accompanied Misora on the next full day, even giving Misora a gift and confessed his feelings at night. Much to Kazumi's shock, Misora wanted to buy a shopping gift for her father. The Hokuto Sanbagarasu tried to cheer him up, resulting in Kazumi taking them with him sailing to nowhere with a rubber boat. The quartet were lost on an unknown island for days afterward.

Build NEW WORLD: Kamen Rider Grease[]

Kazumi Sawatari Grease Profile

After returning to Japan days later, Kazumi continued working on the farm. During the invasion of Down Fall, Kazumi and the Hokuto Sanbagarasu were revealed to be immune to Phantom Crushers' Hazard Level absorption. After the Hokuto Sanbagarasu were heavily injured by Metal Build that ended with Misora's kidnapping, Kazumi demanded a new power-up item to combat the threat. While Sento presented the Perfect Kingdom adapter, he advised him that it lacks enough Phantom Liquid to complete it. Despite his suggestion the rest could be extracted from the Hokuto Sanbagarasu, it could put their lives at risk which Kazumi refused. However, the three offered to sacrifice themselves to complete the adapter.

Kazumi went to face Keiji Uraga as Grease Blizzard as the form no longer harms him, but Metal Build manages to claim the White Pandora Panel to evolve into Phantom Build. Banjo later arrived and gave Kazumi the Perfect Kingdom adapter, seemingly implying that the Hokuto Sanbagarasu sacrificed themselves to complete the item. Proceeding as Kamen Rider Grease Perfect Kingdom, Kazumi settled his score with Phantom Build. Kazumi's anger was enough to utilize the Perfect Kingdom's true potential and vanquished Phantom Build. After the battle, he later learned that the Hokuto Sanbagarasu were still alive, and he was made to believe they were dead to raise his Hazard Level. The next day, Misora finally asks Kazumi on a date, much to his glee.

Kamen Rider Revice: The Mystery[]

Grease in Revice The Mystery

Grease in Revice: The Mystery

Grease briefly appears when Julio imagines Aguilera cosplaying as many different characters from Heisei Series.

Personality[]

Kazumi's demeanor alternates between calm and composed to ruthless and hysterical, depending on whether he's fighting or not. Presumably, due to his usage of the Sclash Driver, Kazumi is obsessed with battle and finding a worthy opponent. He is not afraid to use lethal methods, going as far as attempting to deliver a Rider Kick to an untransformed Ryuga Banjo.

Mii-tan!

Kazuma adoring Mii-tan.

Since Kazumi is a huge fan of Mii-tan, he quickly loses his will to fight and even allows his enemy to escape if Misora is the one who helped them. It's later obvious that he is in love with Mii-tan, but when Akaba asked him about his apparent crush and the possibility of her being Sento's girlfriend, Kazumi denied it by claiming that Mii-Tan is everyone's idol. Kazumi has also been shown to be restless when he is physically close to Misora, leading to him having inner monologues on how to approach her in a romantic way. Despite his inner monologues, however, Kazumi has a bad habit of speaking them out loud, letting everyone within earshot hear what he's saying.

However, Kazumi operates by a certain code: he insists on not targeting civilians as long as they stay out of the way, and decided against taking Build's FullBottles due to him butting in the battle, much to the trio and the Hokuto Prime Minister's dismay. He is also repulsed by Prime Minister Tajimi's plan to send unnecessary reinforcements to invade Touto.

He also secretly cares about his underlings, as he is against the Hokuto Prime Minister and Stalk's idea of giving the Sanbagarasu more power by strengthening them with the Hazard Trigger, knowing that they will die after they are defeated. After the Sanbagarasu become Hazard Smashes, Kazumi was visibly frustrated. This is also shown as Utsumi blackmailed Kazumi to defect from Touto and bring Pandora Box to save his remaining co-workers. Kazumi initially fell to despair since he can't betray his comrades and become relieved after confirming his co-worker's safety firsthand.

Having seen people die in front of him before, Kazumi recognizes the seriousness of war, viewing death to be a natural part of a war. Though he was deeply saddened by Aoba's death, he conceded that Aoba knew that his own life was going to be at stake and that he died because he was weaker, though that did not change the fact that he was someone Kazumi cared about. While Kazumi bears no ill will towards Sento, he still resolved to have a fair fight with the latter that would be held in the proxy war between Touto and Hokuto. The only exception to this is Gentoku, as Kazumi states himself that he'll never forgive Gentoku for killing Akaba, although his attitude towards him softened later on as he has "redeemed" himself thus forgiving him.

Powers and Abilities[]

Powers[]

  • Artificially Enhanced Physiology: Kazumi has undergone an experiment from Faust which injected him with a certain amount of Nebula Gas, which has enhanced his physical condition to a certain degree. To be noted that as his Hazard Level increases, his physical condition increases as well. However, instead of mutating into a Smash, the gas retained his body without side effects (though he did feign memory loss in an attempt to distance himself from the Sanbagarasu). His natural Hazard Level is much higher than most, as his Hazard Level starts at Level 4 during his introduction, allowing him to utilize the Sclash Driver to transform into Kamen Rider Grease. In Episode 19, Blood Stalk read his level, and it has risen to 4.2. In Build NEW WORLD: Kamen Rider Grease, his Hazard Level is now Level 7 since the Grease Perfect Kingdom requires such level to be used.
  • Fullbottle Augmentation: By using a Fullbottle in his hand without transforming, Kazumi can gain abilities based on said Fullbottle's traits.
    • Helicopter: Allows Kazumi to perform fiery punches. It was first used to defeat a Strong Smash Hazard.

Abilities[]

  • Expert Combatant: He has shown that he can fight against and knock out Guardians and guards with ease. He also trained with Ryuga Banjo who was a professional fighter using Fullbottles and managed to keep up with him.

Former Weaknesses[]

  • Nebula Gas Deterioration: Kazumi allowed Faust to dose him with Nebula Gas to increase his Hazard Level. While this did increase his strength, the dosage threatened to damage his body, a necessary risk that he agreed to take. This made him susceptible to harm with the Blizzard Knuckle, as its Nebula Gas increase would eventually destroy his body. However, the Nebula Gas deterioration effect has vanished after being reborn in the New World and he can now use the Blizzard Knuckle safely, likely either a result of his resurrection or the exposure to the Phantom Liquid.

Rider Statistics
Ability Parameters
  • Punching Power: 31.3 t[3][4]
  • Kicking Power: 34.3 t[3][4]
  • Maximum Jump Height: 54 m[3][4]
  • Maximum Running Speed: 100 m per 2.5 sec[3][4]

Grease's base form is accessed by inserting the Robot Sclashjelly into the Sclash Driver and pumping the lever.

Unlike Cross-Z Charge, who has more punching power, Grease has more kicking power. Besides that, Grease shares similar stats with Cross-Z Charge in terms of jumping power and speed.

Also, as he is much more experienced with the Sclash Driver and war, he is able to fight against and defeat Cross-Z Charge at ease, even when the latter has similar power stats as him.

This is also proven as he single-handedly defeated Rogue, both Kaisers and Hell Bro's, which all of them had much better stats than him.

Grease's personal weapon is the Twin Breaker. By plugging the Dragon Sclashjelly into his Sclash Driver, Grease gains a second Twin Breaker.

Kamen Rider Grease consists of the following parts:

  • Grease Head (グリスヘッド, Gurisu Heddo): Grease's helmet.
    • Struggle Enhancer (ストラグルエンハンサー, Sutoraguru Enhansā): Output adjustment device installed on the head of Kamen Rider Grease. Supports the transformation struggle and optimizes each function of the suit to bring out higher abilities. In some cases, it can enhance the user's combat ability beyond basic performance.
    • G Battle Module (Gバトルモジュール, G Batoru Mojūru): Data collection device in Grease's helmet that collects battle data and repairs the suit if damaged. It can also send out a signal to summon the Twin Breaker.
    • Clear Face Tector (クリアフェイステクター, Kuria Feisu Tekutā): Armored parts to protect the face of Kamen Rider Grease. Under the armor there is a shock-absorbing gel cushion that minimizes damage to the head, even if an enemy attack hits it directly.
    • G Variable Head Armor (Gヴァリアブルヘッドアーマー, G Vu~ariaburu Heddo Āmā): Armored parts to protect the head of Kamen Rider Grease. It is made of hardened Variable Jelly, which optimizes the internal structure and density balance while it becomes more durable the more it is attacked.
    • Sclash Fountain (スクラッシュファウンテン, Sukurasshu Faunten): A device on Grease's head that spouts out Variable Jelly to form armor.
    • Twin Jelly Eye (ツインゼリーアイ, Tsuin Zerī Ai): The eyes of Kamen Rider Grease. Increases hit rate and reaction time to attacks.
  • G Variable Chest Armor (Gヴァリアブルチェストアーマー, G Vu~ariaburu Chesuto Āmā): The clear armor pieces on Kamen Rider Grease's chest. It is made of hardened Variably Jelly, which optimizes the internal structure and density balance while it becomes more durable the more it is attacked.
  • Under Base Armor (アンダーベースアーマー, Andā Bēsu Āmā): Lightweight armor on the Sclash Jelly Riders. It emits a pulse that shapes and hardens the Variable Jelly into armor.
  • G Enhancement Suit (Gエンハンスメントスーツ, G Enhansumento Sūtsu): Shock resistant bodysuit of Kamen Rider Grease. While protecting the transformation from combat damage, it strengthen the body according to the hazard level. Inside the suit are innumerable jelly pipes, connects the driver's Jelly Tank to the Sclash Nozzles.
  • Machine Pack Shoulders (マシンパックショルダー, Mashin Pakku Shorudā): Kamen Rider Grease's shoulder pads. They spout out Variable Jelly during the final attack.
  • Sclash Nozzle (スクラッシュノズル, Sukurasshu Nozuru): The spout units all over the suit. They spout out Variable Jelly during transformation and final attacks.
  • Force Crash Arm (フォースクラッシュアーム, Fōsu Kurasshu Āmu): Kamen Rider Grease's arms. The elastic gel pad inside the suit assists movement as well as increase strength and speed.
  • Machine Splash Armory (マシンスプラッシュアーモリー, Mashin Supurasshu Āmorī): A device on Kamen Rider Grease's arm. They spout out Variable Jelly during the final attack.
  • Robo Struggle Glove (ロボストラグルグローブ, Robo Sutoraguru Gurōbu): Kamen Rider Grease's gloves. Specializes in attacks with the Twin Breakers, and the power of his punches increases as the transformational spirit of the fight increases.
  • Force Crash Leg (フォースクラッシュレッグ, Fōsu Kurasshu Reggu): Kamen Rider Grease's legs. The elastic gel pad inside the suit assists movement as well as increase strength and speed.
  • Robo Struggle Shoes (ロボストラグルシューズ, Robo Sutoraguru Shūzu): Kamen Rider Grease's shoes. It increases the power of his leg attacks to the point it can break bedrock. Also, the power of the kick increases as the transformation struggle increase.

Grease has several different finishers:

  • Sclash Driver finisher:
    • Grease's finisher with the Robot Sclashjelly is the Scrap Finish (スクラップフィニッシュ, Sukurappu Finisshu). which has three variations:
      • Rider Kick: Grease uses his Machine Pack Shoulder (マシンパックショルダー, Mashin Pakku Shorudā) to generate Variable Jelly (ヴァリアブルゼリー, Variaburu Zerī) in order to propel himself forward as he delivers a powerful kick coated in gold energy to the enemy.
      • Rider Punch: Using the Machine Splash Armory (マシンスプラッシュアーモリー, Mashin Supurasshu Āmorī) on either of his hands, Grease performs a powerful punch with a Variable Jelly projection of the Demolition One.
      • Rider Shooting: In the Ganbarizing arcade game, Grease fires four Robot Fullbottle insignia from his Machine Pack Shoulders and Robo Struggle Gloves (ロボストラグルグローブ, Robo Sutoraguru Gurōbu) as they explode upon latching to his targets.
    • Charge Crash (チャージクラッシュ, Chāji Kurasshu): Grease channels the power of a Biotic Fullbottle.
      • Kuma: Grease creates a pair of energy bear claws and crushes the enemy with them.

      • Helicopter: Grease creates a Variable Jelly projection of a three-bladed rotor, gaining the ability to fly.
      • Keshigomu: Grease creates a large eraser that allows him and/or his comrades to flee.
      • Castle: Grease summons the Castle Hard Smash's Ground Rampart (グランドランパート, Gurando Ranpāto) in front of him in order to block attacks
  • Twin Breaker finishers:
    • Beam Mode:
      • Single Finish (シングルフィニッシュ, Shinguru Finisshu): Grease channels the energy of a Fullbottle or the Robot Sclashjelly and performs a powerful blast.
        • Fullbottle:
          • Gatling: Grease fires multiple balls of golden energy in rapid succession.
        • Sclashjelly:
          • Robot: Grease shoots the enemy with gold lightning in rapid succession.
      • Twin Finish (ツインフィニッシュ, Tsuin Finisshu): Grease channels the energy of 2 Fullbottles or a Fullbottle and the Robot Sclashjelly and performs a powerful blast.
        • 2 Fullbottles:
          • Smapho + Televi: The Twin Breaker makes a test card-esque barrier, which switches into the image of three smartphones that launches energy "apps" projection.
        • Fullbottle + Sclashjelly:
          • Helicopter + Robot: Grease shoots the enemy with projections of gold helicopter rotors.

      • Fullbottle + Sclashjelly:
        • Robot + Robot: Grease covers himself in golden energy and slides at the enemy for a punching maneuver via the Variable Jelly, before surfing around the enemy whilst shooting it multiple times, then performing his Scrap Finish attack after uppercutting the enemy into the air.
    • Discharge Crash/Twin Break (ディスチャージクラッシュ/ツインブレイク, Disuchāji Kurasshu/Tsuin Burēku): With the Twin Breaker in Attack Mode, Grease channels the energy of 2 Fullbottles or a Fullbottle and the Robot Sclashjelly, plus the energy of an Abiotic Fullbottle in the Sclash Driver, then performs a powerful attack.
      • 2 Fullbottles:

          • Grease coats the Twin Breaker with the Fullbottles' energies mixed together in the shape of the Castle Fullbottle logo before ramming into the enemy.
          • Grease coats the Twin Breaker with the Fullbottles' energies mixed together and slashes the enemy, then executes a jumping spinning heel kick.

Grease Blizzard (グリスブリザード, Gurisu Burizādo) is Grease's final form accessed by using the Grease Blizzard Knuckle, loaded with the North Blizzard Fullbottle, in the Build Driver, hence known as the Frozen Soul Fire (激凍心火, Gekitō Shinka).

In this form, Grease's right arm has punching power slightly lower than Cross-Z Magma, while his left arm's punching power is on par with Evol Dragon Form. However, his kicking power is slightly lower than Cross-Z Magma, he cannot jump as high, and he is much slower. Despite this, Grease's explosive fighting style makes up for his weaknesses and he was shown to be able to defeat three Lost Smash while fighting them all at the same time, though with some difficulty.

Grease Blizzard is equipped with the GBZ Demolition One (GBZデモリションワン, GBZ Demorishon Wan) on his left arm that can be used to crush enemies or freeze them by blowing cold particles. On his other arm, Grease Blizzard is equipped with the Snow Storm Armory (スノウストームアーモリー, Sunou Sutōmu Āmorī) that is able to shoot ice as a form of attack. In addition, Grease Blizzard can produce icicles from the ground around him using his legs.

Grease Blizzard consists of the following parts:

  • Grease Blizzard Head (グリスブリザードヘッド, Gurisu Burizādo Heddo): Grease Blizzard's helmet.
    • GBZ Struggle Enhancer (GBZストラグルエンハンサー, GBZ Sutoraguru Enhansā): Output adjustment device installed on the head of Kamen Rider Grease Blizzard. increase the hazard level of the user and maximizes their abilities. In some cases, it can enhance the user's combat ability beyond basic performance.
    • GBZ Battle Module (GBZバトルモジュール, GBZ Batoru Mojūru): Data collection device in Grease Blizzard's helmet that collects battle data. It also manages the temperature of the suit, repairs damaged areas by rapidly freezing it and restoring its shape and function, and then filling it with Variable Ice.
    • Frozen Face Tector (フローズンフェイステクター, Furōzun Feisu Tekutā): The armor is filled with sherbet-like impact modifiers, which minimizes damage to the head even from a direct attack.
    • Blizzard Head Armor (ブリザードヘッドアーマー, Burizādo Heddo Āmā): Armored parts to protect the head of Kamen Rider Grease Blizzard. It is made of Variable Ice, which optimizes the internal structure and density balance while it becomes more durable the more it is attacked. It also continuously lowers the ambient temperature of the room until the enemy is incapacitated.
    • Cold Jelly Eye (コールドゼリーアイ, Kōrudo Zerī Ai): The eyes of Kamen Rider Grease. Increases hit rate and reaction time to attacks.
  • Blizzard Chest Armor (ブリザードチェストアーマー, Burizādo Chesuto Āmā): The armor pieces on Kamen Rider Grease Blizzard's chest. It is made of Variably Ice, which optimizes the internal structure and density balance while it becomes more durable the more it is attacked. There is also a unit at the back that allows short term flight using the Variable Ice spouts.
  • GBZ Unlimited Suit (GBZアンリミテッドスーツ, GBZ Anrimiteddo Sūtsu): Shock resistant bodysuit of Kamen Rider Grease Blizzard. While protecting the transformation from combat damage, it strengthens the body according to the hazard level. The interior of the suit is kept at a constant temperature, so temperature based attacks will not affect the user.
  • GBZ Ice Pack Shoulders (GBZアイスパックショルダー, GBZ Aisu Pakku Shorudā): Kamen Rider Grease Blizzard's shoulder pads. They spout out Variable Ice during the final attack. They can also form a barrier of ice to be used as a shield.
  • Freeze Rush Arm (フリーズラッシュアーム, Furīzu Rasshu Āmu): Kamen Rider Grease Blizzard's right arm. The elastic gel pad inside the suit assists movement as well as increase strength and speed. It is strong enough to defeat enemies with a freezing punch with cooling particles.
  • Snowstorm Armory (スノウストームアーモリー, Sunousutōmu Āmorī): A device on Kamen Rider Grease Blizzard's arm. They spout out Variable Ice during the final attack. They can also be used to form a sword made of ice.
  • Frostruggle Glove (フロストラグルグローブ, Furosutoraguru Gurōbu): Kamen Rider Grease Blizzard's gloves. Specializes in attacks with the Grease Blizzard Knuckle, and the power of his punches increases as the user becomes more prepared. Punches will cause enemies to dissipate at the cellular level, leaving only smoke.
  • Northern Rise Arm (ノーザンライズアーム, Nōzan Raizu Āmu): Kamen Rider Grease Blizzard's left arm. A power assist motor is fitted in the arm that allows the user to deliver a powerful punch.
  • GBZ Demolition One (GBZデモリションワン, GBZ Demorishon Wan): The claw-like gauntlet on Grease Blizzard's left arm. It has a multitude of functions built-in designed to freeze and crush enemies. It can spray a cooling particle at enemies in its grasp and deploys a huge energy arm during final attacks.
  • Freeze Rush Leg (フリーズラッシュレッグ, Furīzu Rasshu Reggu): Kamen Rider Grease Blizzard's legs. The elastic gel pad inside the suit assists movement as well as increase strength and speed. It is strong enough to defeat enemies with a freezing kick with cooling particles.
  • Frostruggle Shoes (フロストラグルシューズ, Furosutoraguru Shūzu): Kamen Rider Grease Blizzard's shoes. It has built-in footwork optimization and impact-type shredding devices and increases the power of the kick increases as the user becomes more prepared. Kicks will cause enemies to dissipate at the cellular level, leaving only smoke.

This form has 2 different finishers:

  • Build Driver finishers:
    • Glacial Attack (グレイシャルアタック, Gureisharu Atakku): Grease Blizzard turns the Vortex Lever once and creates a large Variable Ice construct of the GBZ Demolition One that spins before he grabs the enemy with it and crushes them.
    • Glacial Finish (グレイシャルフィニッシュ, Gureisharu Finisshu): Grease Blizzard turns the Vortex Lever multiple times and produces ice from each of the GBZ Ice Pack Shoulder (GBZアイスパックショルダー, GBZ Aisu Pakku Shorudā) in order to propel himself forward and performs a flying kick covered in light blue energy. The kick freezes enemy upon contact and destroys them into the mist.

In this form, it combines the powers of Grease himself and the Hokuto Sanbagarasu in their Smash forms, allowing him to use their abilities, such as rainbow-colored energy slashes from his arm blades or using his Castle shoulder pads to erect red energy shields. Relationships[]

Love Interest[]

  • Misora Isurugi: Misora as Mii-tan was Kazumi's idol and crush. When he saw her, he almost recognized her, until Sento threw him off for mistaken identity in order to protect her from Hokuto and the other governments. After the proxy battle, hearing her voice and catchphrase from the net, he finally sees Misora as Mii-tan close up, after being fooled by Sento. Joining Team Build, Misora only calls Kazumi "Grease" because if she calls Kazumi by his real name Kazumin, he'll leave otherwise much to Kazumi's dismay. Misora is the one who witness Kazumi's death firsthand and call him 'Kazumin' after he disintegrated. Nevertheless, Misora grieves over Kazumi's death and kept his dog tag as a memento. In the New World, Misora still calls him "Grease". Kazumi went shopping with her to buy something for her dad, thinking it was a date. But even though the Sanbagarasu helped him and getting Mii-tan's outfit, she rejects his feelings, leaving him heartbroken. But returns when Misora was in danger and regaining his love for her. After being saved from Keiji Uraga, they finally start dating for real, much to Kazumi's joy.

Friends[]

  • Team Build - Teammates and Friends
    • Sento Kiryu/Kamen Rider Build (II): He and Sento were enemies during the Touto-Hokuto war. Feeling guilty for killing Aoba while under the influence of the Hazard Trigger, Sento begged Kazumi to kill him as a means of suicide. But Kazumi rather face him in the proxy battle, regardless of the sin Sento caused unknowingly. After the Hokuto proxy battle, with Seito waging war, Kazumi offered himself to join Team Build against Seito & Evolto, and continue to help them until his death.
    • Ryuga Banjo/Kamen Rider Cross-Z (Charge/Magma): He and Banjo were enemies during the Touto-Hokuto war. However, after they became allies, Kazumi is the only Rider to call Banjo by his first name "Ryuga" while everyone else calls him by his last name, while Banjo called him Bakazumin (play word of Baka=Idiot, in the early alphabet). After seeing Kazumi as Grease Blizzard, Banjo becomes angry with Sento because he knows that Kazumi will die after using the Build Driver.
    • Sawa Takigawa: Although they usually don't talk much, Sawa usually 'use' Kazumi's fanboy attitude towards Misora to sell Mii-tan related goods in very high price, which Kazumi finally bought anyway. But when it came to a dakimakura she made as a means to stop the quarrel between the Riders, it proved to be expensive for him, even though they finally reconciled.
    • Gentoku Himuro/Kamen Rider Rogue: Gentoku and Kazumi were enemies during the Touto-Seito war. Kazumi originally did not forgive Gentoku for what happened to Akaba, including his former compatriots for Kiba's death as well during the Touto-Seito war. Knowing revenge won't bring him and his comrades back, he makes Gentoku fight him in order to work with him and Team Build. Over time, Kazumi's attitude towards Gentoku seems to have softened, with the two of them seemingly bickering with each other a lot, much like Sento and Banjo. Kazumi calls Gentoku as Beard (髭 Hige), while Gentoku calls Kazumi as Potato (ポテト Poteto). Kazumi would eventually forgive Gentoku, feeling that he has long repaid for his sins, and that he would be able to follow in his father's footsteps. Upon hearing the news about Kazumi's death, Gentoku is seen screaming inaudibly as he is sad.
    • Nariaki Utsumi/Kamen Rider MadRogue: Threatened Kazumi into giving Seito Pandora's Box, if he wants his hometown friends saved. But later they became allies in the New World.
  • Hokuto Sanbagarasu
    • Akaba: Akaba, along with Aoba and Kiba is Kazumi underlings during Touto-Hokuto war. They put great respect and care for their Boss, and Kazumi also care of them, albeit not showing it. Akaba is the last Hokuto Sanbagarasu member to die (due of Kamen Rider Rogue). His death makes Kazumi hates Seito and even refused to fight with them when Evol starts attacking.
    • Kiba: Kiba, along with Aoba and Akaba is Kazumi underlings during Touto-Hokuto war. They put great respect and care for their Boss, and Kazumi also care of them, albeit not showing it. Kiba is the second Hokuto Sanbagarasu member to die (due of shielding Kazumi from Engine & Remocon Bros attack). This become Kazumi motivation to join forces with Team Build, since they share the same enemies.
    • Aoba: Aoba, along with Akaba and Kiba is Kazumi underlings during Touto-Hokuto war. They put great respect and care for their Boss, and Kazumi also care of them, albeit not showing it. Aoba is the first of the Hokuto Sanbagarasu to die (due of Build RabbitTank Hazard), and this becoming Kazumi motivation to defeat Sento in Proxy war.

Behind the Scenes[]

Portrayal[]

Kazumi Sawatari is portrayed by Kouhei Takeda (武田 航平, Takeda Kōhei), who is more previously well known for his portrayal of Otoya Kurenai in Kamen Rider Kiva. As Kamen Rider Grease, his suit actor is Satoshi Fujita (藤田 慧, Fujita Satoshi).

Etymology[]

Following Sento and Ryuga, one of the kanji used to spell his name also represents an animal, Sa (), which poetically means "monkey". It could be referring to grease monkey, an English slang term for mechanics.

Notes[]

Kazumi Sawatari Dogtag
Grease's Incomplete Form

Grease's incomplete suit

  • Like Cross-Z Charge, Grease's transformation begins with an incomplete suit that lacks the transparent chest piece and faceplate, as well as the spout bag-themed shoulder pads. These elements are formed once Variable Jelly is secreted from several ports on the suit and solidifies.
  • Grease Blizzard's left arm is retooled from Kamen Rider Build's Robot Halfbody.
  • Grease Blizzard was conceived when Takeda approached producer Takahito Omori for a new form due to the character's growing popularity.[9]
