- "Now, enjoy your hell!"
- ―Katsumi's words after a battle[src]
Katsumi Daido (大道 克己, Daidō Katsumi) is the main antagonist of Kamen Rider W Forever: A to Z/The Gaia Memories of Fate. He was an undead mercenary who transformed into Kamen Rider Eternal (仮面ライダーエターナル, Kamen Raidā Etānaru).
History[]
Kamen Rider Eternal[]
Early Life[]
As shown in The Beginning of N/Blood and Dream, Katsumi was born with a congenital heart defect. This, combined with a fatal car accident, prompted his mother, Miki Daido, to use her NECRO-OVER project research, based on Philip, to save her son's life as the first Necro-Over, giving him bio-stimulants to age properly. However, despite Katsumi's superhuman combat skills, the Necro-Over project was rejected in favor of the Gaia Memory project, forcing Katsumi and his mother to leave the Foundation. Transforming four people who recently died into Necro-Overs, they founded NEVER. Daido is more refined and enhanced than the other Necro-Overs.
A to Z/The Gaia Memories of Fate[]
Attack on Futo[]
Katsumi was the leader of the organization NEVER that uses the T2 Gaia Memories. He lead the NEVER Dopants created from the T2 Gaia Memories. Katsumi and the other members of NEVER were fighting a terrorist organization in South Asia, where he encountered a Quark named Mina and fell in love with her. After a brief meeting with Jun Kazu, Katsumi gained the experimental Eternal Memory to become Kamen Rider Eternal. But when Doctor Prospect as the Eyes Dopant killed all of the Quarks, supposedly even Mina, Katsumi went mad and killed Prospect with Memory's Maximum Drive. With the Eternal Memory damaged, Katsumi discarded it and decided to wipe out the Museum.
Katsumi first appeared in Futo City attacking the helicopter Tabata is riding in, taking the T2 Eternal Memory and transforming into Eternal. He takes the entire case containing the T2 Gaia Memories and goes to his accomplices. But Tabata activates a switch causing the case and helicopter to explode, scattering the Memories. However, Katsumi survives, and he and his comrades search for the remaining Memories.
Encounter with Double[]
Katsumi then appears at the place the Riders of Futo came to meet Maria S. Cranberry, where he fights Kamen Rider Double as both FangJoker and CycloneJokerXtreme and easily overpowers both forms. He shuts down access to the pre-T2 Gaia Memories, saying that he and Philip are a lot alike, which only makes Philip more livid. After Double is defeated, NEVER claims the 19 T2 Gaia Memories that the Riders found.
With 25 of the 26 T2 Gaia Memories recovered and Philip captured by NEVER, Katsumi reveals his plan to take over and rebuild Futo City in his image, with the people turned into Necro-Overs. Reclaiming the T2 Joker Memory from Philip's partner, Shotaro Hidari, Daido initiates the X-Bicker that will send out a wave to turn everyone into Necro-Overs, despite knowing that they will die as they are not enhanced as Katsumi is. Philip, with help from Shotaro, reactivates their Gaia Memories, and Maria injects a serum into Daido that causes him to start dissolving. In retaliation, Daido shoots Maria in the stomach and takes another serum to stabilize himself which seemed to weaken him.
Final battle against Double and Death[]
They manages to catch up to Katsumi as he transforms into Eternal, but the latter escapes again. Double then catches up and fights Eternal on the Futo Tower using his Half Forms. As he is about to deliver the final blow as CycloneJokerXtreme, Eternal seemed to regain his full strength and goes into his Strengthening Armament mode, using the Zone Memory to summon the other T2 Gaia Memories. He then uses the 'Never Ending Hell Maximum Drive to send Double falling from Futo Tower to his death, but through the support of the citizens of Futo and a strong gust of wind blowing into the Xtreme Memory, Double changes from CycloneJokerXtreme to CycloneJokerGoldXtreme. Eternal then uses his energy to send one blast of energy at Double, but Double counters through the attack and hits Eternal with a kick strong enough to defeat him as well as destroy all 26 T2 Gaia Memories at once. With his very last breath, Katsumi remembers what death feels like.

Eternal appears as a playable character in Kamen Rider Battride War Genesis, with Mitsuru Matsuoka reprising his role as Katsumi Daido. Instead of form changes, Eternal can use some of the T2 Gaia Memories to perform special attacks or to enhance his abilities; however, the Memories can't be used consecutively and require the player to wait for the hidden meter to regenerate in order to use another, yet can be filled to hasten the regeneration of the memory uses and make the used Gaia Memories useful again due to regenerating the memory's meter while waiting without being attacked is very slow and may waste time on completing the game's mission. As he was never given his own Rider Machine, Eternal's "fast travel" method instead involves using the T2 Accel Memory to run at super speeds. Eternal's super mode is Strengthening Armament, giving him the attacks he used in his final battle with Double.

He is revived by ZEUS, the antagonist, along with several others to test the Core Power, with Eternal being the only one to be able to handle it. He fights Double and OOO in hopes of securing his future, but was ultimately defeated by them. He then disintegrates, leaving only his Gaia Memory for Double to get, who also mourns his death. Double then uses his memory to disable the god abilities of the Zeus Memory.
Personality[]
Originally, Katsumi was a gentle child with an affinity for music, as well as being very close to his mother. From his forced resurrection as a Necro-Over though, Katsumi's sense of empathy greatly declined, his mercenary training further corrupting him. However, some of Katsumi's former morality remained inside, to the point of sparing Mina's life in battle. Still capable of feeling sympathy, Katsumi would also attempt to save her and the others from Foundation X's experiments, disgusted at how they were treated.
Upon his failure to stop Doctor Prospect's cruel actions though, Katsumi forsook all morality, becoming a vicious terrorist. Now driven by his anger and hatred, Katsumi plotted revenge on Museum and Foundation X, setting sights on Futo City. No longer caring what happened to his allies, Katsumi readily sacrificed them for his plans to succeed, to the point of killing Reika and Maria in cold blood.
Yet, despite his coldness, Katsumi still subconsciously yearned for companionship, expressing joy at the idea of Futo City's residents becoming monsters like him. Furthermore, when defeated by Shotaro and Philip, Katsumi fully embraced his death, seemingly glad that his forced life was finally over.
Abilities[]
- Necro-Over capabilities: From the experiments conducted by his mother, Daido possesses superhuman abilities, being the overall strongest among NEVER.
- Knife wielding: Daido is a master knife wielder, able to counter mid to long-range foes without issue. Most impressively, when fighting with their standard weaponry, Daido defeated Double without receiving a single hit.
- Hand-to-hand combat: Due to his mercenary training, Daido also possesses superb skills in hand-to-hand combat. During his fist fight against a fatigued Shotaro, Daido barely received any hits whatsoever; ultimately winning within a minute.

Red Flare (レッドフレア, Reddo Furea) is Eternal's incomplete form. This form of Eternal was accessed by Jun Kazu, who could not access the full power of the Eternal Memory due to his poor compatibility with it. Unlike its Blue Flare version, it lacks the extra Memory Slots and Eternal Robe, and the flame designs on the arms and leg bands are red instead of blue. In W Returns, Katsumi briefly transforms into Red Flare before it evolves into Blue Flare due to his high compatibility.
This form is exclusive to Kamen Rider W Returns: Kamen Rider Eternal.

- Maximum Jump Height: 150 m
- Maximum Running Speed: 100 m per 3 seconds
Through the Lostdriver and the Eternal Memory, Katsumi transforms into Kamen Rider Eternal. Like most Riders in Kamen Rider W, Eternal has an English letter motif - in this case the letter 'E'. Katsumi originally transformed using the standard Eternal Memory, but it was disabled after the battle with the Eyes Dopant and he was forced to abandon it. This form is also called Eternal Blue Flare (ブルーフレア, Burū Furea), as revealed in Kamen Rider W Returns, and is more powerful than the incomplete Red Flare form due to Katsumi's high compatibility with the Eternal Memory. Between the Maximum Slots on the Lostdriver, Eternaledge, and the Max Belts strapped across his body, Eternal can use all 26 T2 Gaia Memories at the same time.
Kamen Rider Eternal consists of the following parts:
- Synch Chakram (シンクチャクラム, Shinku Chyakuramu): The red jewel in the forehead. It synchronizes the power of the 26 Gaia Memories and provides Eternal with transcendent power.
- Max Jacket (マックスジャケット, Makkusu Jyaketto): The bandolier straps on the chest. They allow Maximum Slots to be worn on Eternal's chest.
- Arm Max Belt (アーム・マックスベルト, Āmu Makkusu Beruto): The bandolier strap on the right bicep. It allows Maximum Slots to be worn on Eternal's right arm.
- Flame Arm (フレイムアーム, Fureimu Āmu): The forearm armor. The flame pattern is actually an exhaust system that vents excess energy from the 26 Gaia Memories in order to keep Eternal from self-destructing.
- Eternal Brace (エターナルブレス, Etānaru Buresu): The wrist armor. It amplifies the power of the Eternal Memory to give Eternal transcendent arm strength.
- Eternal Robe (エターナルローブ, Etānaru Rōbu): A shield cloak with absolute defense capabilities that can cover Eternal's entire body. It protects the body by nullifying all heat, cold, electric, and physical attacks that strike it. However, the cloak must be removed when Eternal uses the Never-Ending Hell attack, as its defensive abilities would interfere with the energy from the T2 Gaia Memories.
- Eternal Anklet (エターナルアンクレット, Etānaru Ankuletto): The ankle armor. It amplifies the power of the Gaia Memories to raise Eternal's leg strength to its utmost limit.
- Trident Feeler (トライデントフィーラー, Toraidento Fīrā): The E-shaped crest on the forehead. A supersensory organ that sends out ultrasonic waves in all directions and receives the reflected sound waves to eliminate blind spots. It's sensitive enough to detect even the slightest movements in the air.
- Wide-Range Eye (ワイドレンジアイ, Waido Renji Ai): The eye lenses. The C-Eye, comprising both the left and right sides, can change its field of vision and focal distance with nothing more than a thought from the user. This gives Eternal 280° vision in the front and allows him to spot ants on the ground from 2,000 meters up in the air.
- Thigh Max Belt (サイ・マックスベルト, Sai Makkusu Beruto): The bandolier strap on the left thigh. It allows Maximum Slots to be worn on Eternal's left leg.
Eternal Blue Flare has the following Maximum Drive finishers:
- Lostdriver finishers:
- Unicorn Memory: Eternal performs a powerful straight punch with his arm wreathed in green drill-like energy. This attack has been referred to as the Corkscrew Punch (コークスクリューパンチ, Kōkusukuryu Panchi) in Battride War Genesis and the Unicorn Hell Break (ユニコーンヘルブレイク, Yunikōn Heru Bureiku) in Ganbarizing.
- Eternaledge finishers:
- Eternal Requiem (エターナルレクイエム, Etānaru Rekuiemu): Eternal releases a wave of power that disables all other Gaia Memories.
- In Kamen Rider W Returns, Eternal follows up with a corkscrew kick performed while his foot is wreathed in spiraling blue flames. This is sometimes considered part of the Eternal Requiem, though Battle Rush features it as a separate attack called the Eternal Break (エターナルブレイク, Etānaru Bureiku).
- Eternal Requiem (エターナルレクイエム, Etānaru Rekuiemu): Eternal releases a wave of power that disables all other Gaia Memories.
- "Zone! Maximum Drive!"

- Height: 205 cm
- Weight: 97 kg
By filling all 26 of his Memory Slots through the T2 Zone Memory, Eternal enters his Strengthening Armament (強化武装, Kyōka Busō)[1] mode. This form is also called Strongest Form, and Gaia Memories Full Equipped Form[2].
Eternal Strengthening Armament has the following Maximum Drive finishers:
- Bloody Hell Blade (ブラッディヘルブレイド , Buraddi Heru Bureido): Eternal performs a powerful energy-charged slash attack using the Eternaledge.
- Never Ending Hell (ネバーエンディングヘル, Nebā Endingu Heru): Absorbing the energy from the X-Bicker, Eternal forms it into an enormous green energy sphere and launches it forwards.
- In some video games, Eternal is able to perform a Rider Kick boosted by the combined power of all 26 T2 Gaia Memories.
However, the Strengthening Armament is only usable in Blue Flare form.
