Kamen Rider vs. Jigoku Taishi (仮面ライダー対じごく大使, Kamen Raidā tai Jigoku Taishi) is a Japanese superhero Tokusatsu film within the continuity of the original Kamen Rider series. Although not marketed as such, it is considered to be a precursor to the annual Summer Movie adaptations.
Synopsis[]
After an ambush by Shocker during a motocross race, Takeshi Hongo and Kazuya Taki must rescue the Tachibana Racing Club members and destroy Shocker's new Super Destruction Light Beam (スーパー破壊光線, Sūpā Hakai Kōsen) before it can destroy Tokyo Tower, all while facing an army of revived Shocker cyborgs led by Kamikirikid.
Plot[]
As Takeshi Hongo and Kazuya Taki begin a motocross race, cheered on by Tobee Tachibana, Emi, and Tokko, they are spied on by a Shocker-piloted helicopter. As Hongo and Taki take the lead, Shocker Combatmen on the ground reverse a directional sign to lead them off the track. Just when they realize they've left the track, the Shocker helicopter drops bombs on them.
An announcement is made that Hongo and Taki are missing from the race, and Tachibana, Emi, and Tokko take off to find them. The Shocker helicopter lands to confirm the deaths of Hongo and Taki, but the Combatmen are ambushed by them. Hongo and Taki take their outfits as disguises, and Tachibana, Emi, and Tokko arrive just as Hongo and Taki are departing in the helicopter for Shocker's base. Jigoku Taishi calls the helicopter for a status update and Hongo, masquerading as a Shocker Combatman, tells him the targets were successfully destroyed. Hongo and Taki arrive at the Shocker base and begin to infiltrate it, but are quickly detected and locked in a small room which begins to fill with a deadly gas. Hongo and Taki attempt to open an escape hatch, but it is held shut by Kabutorong. After a few moments, Kabutorong looks inside and believes the heroes have melted, but as he begins to leave he is attacked by Kamen Rider 1 and Taki. The two fight their way to the command center of the base to confront Jigoku Taishi but find it empty. Jigoku Taishi appears on a screen and tells them that a new Shocker base has been completed that contains the Super Destruction Light Beam device which has the power to destroy all of Japan by summoning lightning. As the room is sealed, Jigoku Taishi reveals that the base is set to self-destruct in thirty seconds. Kamen Rider and Taki contemplate how to escape. After thirty seconds, the base explodes. Riding in a convoy transporting the Super Destruction Light Beam Device to the new Shocker base, Jigoku Taishi is informed of the successful destruction of Kamen Rider, but he warns not to presume victory too soon and orders precautions be taken against Kamen Rider and Taki's further interference.
Meanwhile, Tachibana, Yuri, Emi, and Tokko are waiting in the Racing Club for Hongo and Taki to return, but the building shakes as Kamikirikid emerges from the floor and kidnaps them. Taki returns just after and notices warm coffee and Tachibana's pipe left unattended. Hongo pursues a Shocker Jeep fleeing with Emi and Tokko, and Harinezras signals for an ambush to go forward. The Jeep comes to a halt and Hongo catches up to it, finding it unmanned. As he wakes Emi and Tokko, they are airbombed by Cockroach Man, Semiminga, and Gilliera. Emi and Tokko run to safety as Hongo fights Shocker Combatmen. Cockroach Man, Semiminga and Gilliera land to confront Hongo and Kamikirikid joins the fray. Hongo transforms into Kamen Rider New 1 and engages the four. He manages to pin Cockroach Man and demands for information on the Shocker base, and Cockroach Man reveals that it's on Mount Fuji before Kamikirikid destroys him. Kamikirikid then nearly sends Kamen Rider off a cliff before fleeing just as Taki arrives in the Shocker helicopter.
Kamen Rider 1 takes off on the New Cyclone in pursuit of the Shocker convoy, but loses them once they drive into a cloud of smoke, at which point he is ambushed by a gang of Shocker bikers led by Jaguarman and Saigang. After thinning the crowd somewhat, Kamen Rider 1 escapes Jaguarman and Saigang. He tries to search for the entrance to Shocker's base momentarily but he is quickly ambushed by a group of horseback Shocker Combatmen and Semiminga, who has Tachibana and Yuri held hostage and says they will die if Hongo resists. The riders encircle and rope Kamen Rider 1, and he is dragged helplessly by the horses. Taki arrives in the helicopter and is shot down by the Super Destruction Light Beam Device, but safely lands with a parachute. Taki frees Tachibana and Yuri from their bonds, giving Kamen Rider 1 the opportunity to leap from his predicament and fight back against the riders, forcing them to retreat. Taki, Tachibana, and Yuri look for Hongo afterwards, but he has already headed for Shocker's base.
Taki and Hongo reunite at the base of Mount Fuji and begin to climb the mountain, avoiding Shocker's lookouts. Partway up the mountain, they are ambushed by a horde consisting of Beaded Lizard Man, Zanbronzo, Musasabeedle, Dokumonde, Zanjioh, Kinokomorgue, Pranodon, Goaster, Eiking, Worm Man, and Sea Snake Man. Hongo and Taki begin to narrowly fend off the squad, and Hongo transforms into Kamen Rider New 1 and tells Taki to go destroy the Shocker base. After Kamen Rider 1 destroys Zanbronzo and Beaded Dragon Man, Zanjioh tells him that Shocker has already completed the Super Destruction Light Beam Device. Kamen Rider 1 promptly leaps away to head for the Shocker base.
Meanwhile, Taki is already infiltrating the base, and spies Jigoku Taishi and Shocker's scientists as they prepare to fire on Tokyo Tower. Taki fights his way to the Light Beam Device's controls, and just as Kamikirikid confronts him, Kamen Rider 1 arrives and uses the controls to initiate the destruction of the base. Jigoku Taishi orders evacuation of the base, and Kamen Rider 1 engages Kamikirikid outside. After battling him for a while, Kamen Rider 1 realizes Kamikirikid's horns are his weakness and punches one of them off before knocking him off a cliff with a Rider Kick, destroying him.
