Kamen Rider Drive Saga: Kamen Rider Chaser (仮面ライダードライブサーガ: 仮面ライダーチェイサー, Kamen Raidā Doraibu Sāga: Kamen Raidā Cheisā) is the first installment of the Kamen Rider Drive Saga series of V-Cinema films set within the continuity of the series. It focuses on the character of Chase as he fights a vengeful Roidmude he once defeated in his past.

A special edition of the film was released alongside a special DX Break Gunner (Drive Saga ver.) (Contains Chase's voice) and a new Viral Core called Rhino Super (ライノスーパー, Raino Sūpā), both of which appear in the film.

Synopsis

Roidmude 051, whom Chase defeated before both as Kamen Rider Protodrive and Mashin Chaser, returns as a robber and left a woman named Hinako injured. Chase decides look after her brother Hiroshi after she got hospitalized, as they remind him of Kiriko and Go.

Because Chase does not show any emotions, Hiroshi, who is mildly sociopathic, does not trust him. Chase wishes that he can become a real human and feel the full extent of human emotions when suddenly, the Angel Roidmude appears. She has golden wings - a sign that she already achieved Ultimate Evolution. She grants Chase the emotions he wanted.

The Special Investigation Unit is surprised with a completely different Chase who can now express emotions like a human. However, as he learned more, he became concerned about Angel's actions and her wish to create a peaceful world--a world that differs from what Heart and Brain want to create, and thus puts the Roidmudes at odds with each other.

Meanwhile, while Shinnosuke Tomari is working on the case of 051, he goes to a nearby town where he meets a man named Ryu Terui.

Plot

The film begin with a flashback, where Roidmude 000, as Protozero is re-activated by Krim Steinbelt in a form of Drive Driver. Protozero was in a similar manner of crucifixion when this happening. Krim explained to Protozero that the Roidmudes had rebelled, and killed him along with Tenjuro Banno. Protozero despises the Roidmudes’ action who were supposed to protect humanity, but who now want to destroy humanity. Krim states that Protozero was the prototype of Roidmudes, with an infallible sense of justice and pleads for Protozero to become Protodrive to save humanity, which Protozero complies.

After Protozero transformed into Protodrive, he begins to fight with the Roidmudes during the Global Freeze (Albeit he can't destroy the cores). One of Protodrive's target is Roidmude 051, who is intoxicated by greed of human money. Protodrive manages to defeat 051, albeit his core survived and escapes. At first, Protodrive gain an upper hand during his fight with the Plain roidmudes. However, his encounter with Heart ended in utter defeat. Protozero lost Krim and his memory as well after Freeze, Heart & Brain alter his memory.

Now as Mashin Chaser, Protozero became the Grim Reaper to maintain Roidmudes unity by executing the traitors. Once again, 051 was one of Mashin Chaser’s targets because of the same greed. However, Mashin Chaser, although using Triple Tune, is defeated by Drive Type Formula's Trailer Impact finisher (Using Trailer Cannon). And Kiriko found Protozero in agony after that.

Back to the present, Chase reawakens from his trance by Kiriko. Kiriko asked him if he was alright, which Chase states that he was alright. Kiriko report that there is an incident, and Chase manages to go to the crime scene, transformed as Kamen Rider Chaser.

Surprisingly, the one was caused the incident was none other than 051, due to his same, insatiable greed of money. One of the bank customers, Hinako Tamiya accidentally saw 051's true form as a Roidmude. 051 then decides to finish Hinako off, although he gets attacked by Chaser not too long after. Using the Break Gunner, Chaser manages to fight equally with 051. 051 saw the Break Gunner and knows that Chaser’s is the Grim Reaper, which Chaser mocks him about repeating the same mistakes after being reset.

After exchanging gun shots, 051 decides to attack Hinako by firing at her left arm and leg, rendering Chaser in total disbelief and rage. However, just before Chaser could retaliate, a mysterious silver feather manages to hit 051's gunned-arm (which send an electric wave upon contact), leaving 051 no choice but to retreat after he assume that the one who shot the feather was one of Chaser's comrades.

The one who shoot the feather was a female Roidmude, and that Roidmude states that she is Chaser's friend, as well as the defeated Roidmudes before she took her leave. Not too long after, Shinnosuke and Go as Kamen Riders Drive and Mach arrived. Chaser report the current situation to them, and asked them to chase 051, while he took an injured Hinako to hospital.

At Hospital, Chase apologizes to Hinako since he couldn't protect her. Hinako states that she might've died if Chase didn't save her. Moments later, Hinako's brother, Hiroshi Tamiya appeared. Hiroshi asks if Chase was her boyfriend, much to her chagrin. Hinako explained that Chase is the one who save her and he is Kamen Rider Chaser. When Chase asks if Hiroshi is afraid of him, Hinako explained that Hiroshi is an introvert, and he always opens up to her since they lost their parents. Hinako scolds him for his dependence towards her. Making Chase realize that the siblings remind him of Kiriko and Go, he decides to protect Hiroshi to atone for his failure of saving Hinako.

Unexpectedly, Hiroshi states that Chase is creepy, like a mannequin, which shocked him since he was also called a mannequin by two policewoman after he took his driver's license photo. Chase then tried to smile in order to prove that he wasn't a mannequin, but this further increasing Hiroshi’s distrust toward him, resulting him accidentally crushing his driver's license to bits.

Meanwhile, after Brain observes Medic at a library (with some awkward moments with several children), he wants to report to Heart, when he notices that the female Roidmude earlier, 099, declared herself to become the new leader of the Roidmudes. Heart and 099 argues about the way to reach Over Evolved and their leadership, which 099 exclaim that Heart's method will bring the Roidmudes to their extinction. 099 states that she is the salvation of Roidmudes and that she had changed some Roidmudes’ belief. Heart notices that several Roidmudes had already followed 099, which 099 reveals her true form and a new name, Angel before leaving. Many Roidmudes then start leaving Heart, including 051 who recently revived.

The next day, Chase ask Krim and Rinna to implant some human emotions to him. Krim and Rinna jokingly said that his matrix malfunctioned after dealing with 108. Chase sternly said that he's being serious about that, but Krim and Rinna reject the idea, albeit didn't take it seriously as they enjoyed solar eclipse. This further increasing his will to have a human heart.

Somehow, Chase receives a feather that is used by Angel, albeit the feather color is gold, with red tint (Dubbed as Feather Circuit). The golden feather injects him with something that hallucinates Chase about him having human emotion. Angel then appeared and explained that she received her Over Evolved and was able to give human emotions to Roidmudes. Of course, Chase didn't believe her. But, she suddenly stripped off her clothes and showed that she also use the feather on herself, before implanting the Feather unto Chase’s body, granting him the emotions he desire.

Meanwhile, Shinnosuke, Go, Kiriko and Krim were enjoying orange juice, cola, iced tea, and milk respectively while discussing that 051 managed to flee. Chase suddenly shows up and expresses gladness they were well, also laughed, which shocked Shinnosuke, Kiriko, and Krim as they accidentally shower Go with their drinks in their mouths. Chase reveals his newly attained human emotions even further that scares Go. Chase then asks if he could keep Hiroshi company, which the gang reluctantly agree. Chase then accompanies Hiroshi to do things such as shopping and playing basketball with him.

Meanwhile, the gang (save for Krim since he's observing Chase) were at a crime scene, where a body is found at the Tokyo and Futo border. Shinnosuke and Go had a rather awkward discussion with Futo Police Captain, Ryu Terui. Terui explained that the victim was caused by an usage of a Gaia Memory, so it's in Futo's juridiction to investigate. Shinnosuke asked him for a joint investigation, to which Terui quickly disagrees.

Back at Chase's location, suddenly 051 appeared and went berserk. However, Chase was unable to transform into Kamen Rider Chaser, due to the system being incompatible with Angel’s feather's changes to his programming that allowed him human emotions. Angel appeared and gave Chase the Rhino Super Viral Core. Using that, Chase manages to transform into Super Mashin Chaser and destroy 051 for good.

At first, Chase is delighted when he finally get human emotion and became a 'Human'. However, when Heart shows up, Angel revealing her true intent to put Roidmudes under her control by ripping and absorbing their cores, increasing her power. This causes doubt in Chase, as Brain and Heart use their Over Evolved and fight with Angel to no avail. Chase then decides to protect Heart and Brain instead and flee using Brain’s power to create clones using his neurotoxin. After that, they thought of an idea to defeat Angel once and for all. But before they could make a movement, Angel rips Heart's core in the similar manner of the previous Roidmudes.

Meanwhile, after further investigation, Shinnosuke, Go and Terui found out that the culprit of the murder before was Roidmude 077 who uses the Beast Gaia Memory to transform into Beast Dopant. Shinnosuke and Go transformed as Kamen Riders Drive and Mach respectively to battle the amalgamation, but with no avail. However, Terui decides to transform into Kamen Rider Accel and join the fray. Shortly, Drive and Accel use their Double Rider Kick to destroy 077. Accel orders them to help Chase, which Drive & Mach complies.

Angel manages to absorb Heart's Core, increasing her power even further. Then Chase, as Super Mashin Chaser, rides his Ride Chaser to fight Angel. Their fight continue at a beach, where Angel uses Hiroshi by implanting the same feather she used for Chase, resulting him feeling fake happiness. Super Mashin Chaser was unable to fight anymore due to the feather almost completely integrating with his circuit and was forcefully detransformed. Chase then use his final resort, he forcefully took the feather away using the Rhino Super Viral Core Blade portion. This resulted in him becoming emotionless, but regaining his sense of justice back, along with his Roidmude body once more.

Chase transforms into Kamen Rider Chaser, and manage to drive Angel insane by stating that her method wouldn't bring peace, but rejection. Shortly, Chase manages to finish Angel off for good using his Across Breaker finisher with the Shingou Ax, his Super Blade finisher with the Rhino Super Viral Core and his Chaser End Rider Kick after he manages to freed the cores she absorbed by punching her chest.

Hiroshi finally accepts Chase despite his lack of human emotion. Chase then asks the gang to give him some time to be alone and he rides his Ride Chaser off on the shore as he determined to save humanity once more as Kamen Rider Chaser.

Continuity and Placement

This movie takes place after Kamen Rider Drive: Surprise Future and before episode 41 of the series.

• Krim and Rinna joke that Chase might've malfunctioned after his encounter with 108 as he desires to be whole and be like a human.
• Tenjuro Banno and Roidmude 004 note that Krim had his Driver replaced (as a result of Shinnosuke destroying it and later uploading Krim's AI into Dark Drive's Drive Driver via the Tridoron Key in Surprise Future)
• Both Heart and Brain have gained their ultimate evolution, but a scene in the library shows that Medic is researching to try and figure out her means of gaining her final form, which begins with the arc in episode 41.
• As for Accel's involvement, this takes place long after Kamen Rider W Returns: Kamen Rider Accel as Ryu is married to Akiko and they have a daughter named Haruna. Akiko's maternity leave in Futo Detective indicates that the events of this special take place some time after the events of that manga, as Haruna had not yet been born at the time.

Errors

• When Drive used the Tridoron Dai-Hou shot, Shift Tridoron is still on the Shift Brace.
• During the battle with Roidmude 051, Mr. Belt tells Chase to transform into Protodrive despite Shinnosuke still wearing the Shift Brace.
• Mr. Belt was shown drinking and spit-taking milk before and during Chase's change, despite the fact that he lacks the neccessary internal organs to drink.
• When Drive and Accel finish off Beast Dopant, "Speed" isn't heard after "Full Throttle".
• Even though Deadheat Mach doesn't have the Signal Kaksarn Bike in the Mach Driver, the "Takusan Kaksarn" sound can still be heard.

  • It is also revealed that Ryu finally has a daughter named Haruna after the end of his co-op battle with Shinnosuke and Go when he was called by Akiko.
