This unnamed old man is the twin brother of Jiiya.
History[]
He lived in seclusion in a shack deep in the mountains, teaching cooking to visitors.
When Soji Tendo appeared with a letter of introduction from Jiiya, he pointed to the graveyard of the men who had failed to master the secrets of cooking to confirm his resolve. He gave him the task of "cooking a dust rag." Not understanding the purpose of the task, Tendo tried making dust rag tempura, dust rag steak, dust rag soba, and so on, but he rejected them all. Puzzled, Tendo realized that "dust rags are not something to cook," and that everything in this world has an essence, and that it is important to discern this essence. To do so, he came to the idea that "you need to know nature and know yourself."
Upon hearing this, Jiiya's twin brother gave Tendo a white knife as proof that he had grasped the essence of cooking and become a chef of light.
Personality[]
Compared to his twin brother, Jiiya's twin brother who lives alone in the mountains is obviously stricter with people and things, and he doesn't smile too much. However, he will still remind people who come to visit him until they understand the true meaning of the matter, and then he will praise the visitor and gives them the treasure knife.
