Background

Is reawakens to follow Satellite There's BS-ZA protocol

Is was created by Korenosuke Hiden as the successor to Was Nazotoku and Will. After the previous president passed away, Communication Satellite There began the development of the Hiden Zero-One Driver, reactivating Is in the process. Her mission is start the BS-ZA protocol, and departs to locate Aruto Hiden.

As the president's secretary, Is follows Aruto to improve the sales activities of the Humagear. Is is devoted to support Zero-One in his battles against MetsubouJinrai.net by imparting guidance and granting him access to new arsenal. They would work together with Isamu Fuwa and Yua Yaiba, agents of the government taskforce A.I.M.S. who fight the rogue Humagear as 'Kamen Rider Vulcan' and 'Kamen Rider Valkyrie' respectively. Overtime, Aruto and Is had started to grow more closer like family. While she constantly disobeys him for explaining his gags, Aruto had grown used to her habits and the two shared his classic line, "Yes! It must be me, Aruto!" together.

After Aruto awoke in the altered reality, he discovered that because of There, both him and Is were able to retain their memories following the circumstances behind the timeline alteration. Is is later captured by Will in exchange for the safety of the resistance.

As Hiden Intelligence's reputation has gone down following the presence of the MetsubouJinrai's Assassin Humagears, Is meets the detective Humagear Was Nazotoku who was brought on to investigate the case and offers to assist Aruto track down the Dodo Magia. Was claimed to be Is's "older brother", serving as Is's prototype. While Is herself was shocked by this, she expressed doubts with Was because of his playful nature. After giving Aruto access to Shining Hopper despite it's incomplete state, she felt disappointed in herself and considered sacrificing her central memory to complete the Progrisekey, only to be stopped by Was who takes her place instead so Is could pursue being Aruto's secretary, with her acknowledging Was as her family.

Is later joins with Aruto in the raid with A.I.M.S. to take down MetsubouJinrai.net. After Horobi was defeated in battle, Is declared MetsubouJinrai.net's leader has fallen. This causes an infuriated Jin to attack her with his tendrils, piercing Is's chest. Aruto brought her back to Hiden Intelligence to repair her, but she wasn't able to wake up. After Aruto accessed Zero-One Shining Assault Hopper, Is appears before Aruto once his mind was uplinked to Satellite There and informs him of additional abilities with the form. After Zero-One defeated Jin, Is is reactivated after being repaired by Aruto. Meanwhile, new Magias without Zetsumerisers started to resurface and Gai Amatsu of ZAIA Enterprise Japan announces his intentions to buy out Hiden Intelligence.

The Workplace Competition

In order to protect the company, Hiden Intelligence participates in a five-part Workplace Competition to pit Hiden Intelligence's Humagears against ZAIA Enterprise's ZAIA Specs to challenge their worth and functionality to the public. Is helped Aruto pick the best Humagears to serve as Hiden Intelligence's representives, going against ZAIA's representives wearing the ZAIA Spec. She would also assist Zero-One in his battles against new adversaries in the form of Kamen Rider Thouser and the Raiders.

As the Workplace Competition progressed, it became apparent Gai Amatsu is using every underhanded effort to downplay the Humagears, even intentionally provoking them to incite malice. After Gai paved way for Zero-One to access MetalCluster Hopper in an failed attempt to lock Aruto from transforming, it ended up corrupting the Zero-One System to the Ark. Is would lead the Humagears to compile their data and create Progrise Hopper Blade in order to restore Zero-One's connection back to There. This allows Aruto to control the MetalCluster Hopper state and the power to restore corrupted Humagears.

Once Hiden Intelligence prevailed in the latter half of the competition, this leads to the tiebreaker final round involving a referendum campaign to determine if Humagears should be welcomed to society. However, due to the fallout of rapper Humagear MC Che.ck-It-Out going berserk on live television, this causes Hiden Intelligence to lose to ZAIA Enterprise and the populace losing faith on the Humagears. Is becomes targeted by Gai Amatsu and Yua Yaiba as they started to eradicate the Humagears, only for her to be saved by Isamu Fuwa as RampageVulcan. However, this did not fix their current predicament as Hiden Intelligence has been acquired by ZAIA Japan. Is was forced to deactivate and be locked away with the Zero-One Driver.

Several days after Gai Amatsu's tenure as Hiden Intelligence CEO had begun, Jin managed to recover Is's deactivated body and the Zero-One Driver. Once Aruto reactivated her with her Progrisekey, Jin took Is away to let her become free. While she wanted to remain on Aruto's side, Gai Amatsu and a pair of Battle Raiders arrived to eliminate her once and for all. However, since the rights of the Humagear and Zero-One technology still belonged to Aruto, Is manages to reauthorize him to use the Zero-One Driver again after creating a new company for him, HIDEN Manufacturing.

With a new company, Is helped Aruto in his efforts to recovering discarded Humagears using the Humagear Progrisekeys. While befriending the fashion model Humagear, Delmo, Is was able to make Delmo's dream of a Humagear walking on the fashion runway with a sense of pride by walking in for her while Delmo was temporarily injured. After the fashion show, Aruto announced HIDEN Manufacturing and its goal for the Humagear restoration, being received well by the public.

The Ark Uprising

MetsubouJinrai would accomplish their goal in completely reviving the Ark, having evolved into Kamen Rider Ark-Zero. To find a way to outperform Ark, Aruto and Is visited There for advice, they realized that Zero-One was no longer capable of updating. However, Ark-Zero would manage to snatch the Hiden Zero-One Driver and uplink himself to Satellite There, becoming more invincible than ever.

However, it is revealed There's A.I. was transferred over to Is and in order to awaken it, she had go undergo several simulations regarding Ark-Zero defeating of Aruto and his allies. Is was involved with the creation of the Hiden Zero-Two Driver and Zero-Two Progrisekey. She would witness Aruto's transformation into Kamen Rider Zero-Two, represented by the pair's dream to unite the humanity and Humagears together. Aruto later apologizes to Is for letting her go through with the simulations, while Is jokingly remarks she'll never forgive him. Once Gai Amatsu stepped down as president of Hiden Intelligence, Aruto was reappointed into the position to put Humagears back to work and would eventually succeed in defeating Kamen Rider Ark-Zero for good.

Despite the threat of the Ark was apparently over, Horobi continued his crusade to destroy humanity as he began raising a Magia army. After seeing a simulation of Horobi becoming Kamen Rider Ark-One, Is races to meet with Horobi to persuade him to give up his hatred. Horobi refused and shoots Is with the Attache Arrow. After Aruto arrived to realize what had happened, a severely broken Is still believed one day Humagears could experience true joy, including Horobi. Once she begins to overheat, she pushes Aruto away after bidding farewell as she explodes in her usual secretary pose. As her ribbon fell down to the ground, Aruto breaks down to tears and lets out an anguished scream.

With the death of Is, this drove a grieving Aruto Hiden to become Kamen Rider Ark-One with the intent to kill Horobi. Furthermore, when Fuwa and Yaiba tried to have Is be recreated, they've learnt that she has no back-ups of her AI due to her knowledge of the Zero-One System being a security risk. Despite initally avoiding to display such emotions, Horobi was actually guilty for firing the fateful shot, later admitting said guilt in the final battle. Eventually, Aruto chose to forgive Horobi over wanting revenge, proceeding to pursue their envisioned future of a world where humans and Humagear could co-exist.

Rebirth

The new Is

Following this final victory, Aruto is seen holding Is's Progrisekey, in which could not read anything. Eventually, Aruto recreated Is in a new factory settings and no memory of the original. Despite this, Aruto doesn't mind and decided to teach the new Is, while make her learn his gags at the same time.

Kamen Rider Zero-One: REAL×TIME

Three months after being turned online, Is informed Aruto about a video from S, who challenged him. Is offered to come along with Aruto, but declined telling that he can't bear to see her in danger anymore. He simply requested with a smile for her to inform the others about S. Is did what she is told, and informed Isamu Fuwa and Horobi about a message, before wanting to go back to Hiden Intelligence to wait for Aruto. Horobi asked if that is what her heart wanted, with Fuwa replying that due to her being a new Is, she has not achieved Singularity. Is then hears a voice from There to go to Aruto, so she hurried off.

Later, she arrived at a destroyed building where Eden and Zero-One battled. She retrieved the Zero-Two Progrisekey and Zero-Two Driver from the ground, and asked There what she should do. In her simulation, the previous Is appeared as data, telling her to hurry as she fused with her, which restored the original Is with all of her old memories and made her shed a tear.

When Aruto as Hellrising Hopper was about to kill S, Is rushed in as Kamen Rider Zero-Two and took the blow, transforming back to normal. She said that she does not want him to die, as she still has not learn how to laugh from the heart, which made him snap back to his senses. Aruto holds a slightly injured Is as he apologized.

Aruto and Is then team up and transformed into Kamen Rider Zero-One and Zero-Two, respectively, to take down Kamen Rider Lucifer and the Abaddon Riders. Aruto said there will be a day where he will make her laugh from her heart, which Is will be looking forward to. Aruto told a joke to her, however she just clapped. Aruto decided there are still plenty of chances for him to make her laugh as they both head back.

Zero-One Others

During the threat of Kamen Rider MetsubouJinrai, Isamu Fuwa and Yua Yaiba have both lost access to transform into Kamen Riders due to their Shotrisers being destroyed. When Fuwa arrived to Hiden Intelligence to request There to repair it, Is declined, revealing that the Shotrisers are ZAIA Enterprise Japan's technology, which had recently been dismantled. However, through Aruto's assistance while in space, Fuwa was permitted to use the Zero-One Driver after he became a president of a new company, Kamen Rider Vulcan Co., Ltd.

Personality

Is fully works alongside Aruto and supports him in his cause and fight; To remedy Aruto's lack of experience as president and as a Kamen Rider, she usually takes charge of important actions such as making announcements to the media and creating new Progrisekeys as she scans Magia that Aruto fights.

Over time, Is became more capable of showing emotions like surprise, confusion, and happiness. She completely reached Singularity in episode 30 thanks to encouragement from Aruto and Jin, now wanting to live her own life with Aruto. This is further shown through her crying after multiple simulations of Aruto's death in episode 40.

After her revival, she is completely rebooted as no back-up of her exists due to her involvement with Zero-One. As such, she returns to her initial default state. During Thinknet's attack, her previous model's data was revealed to be stored within There via the Zero-Two Progrisekey, allowing the data to fuse with the new Is and restore her memories, with the understanding of how much Aruto cares about her after her reboot causing her to shed a tear.

A running gag with Is is that she will react positively to Aruto's jokes and "ruin" it by explaining it afterwards, much to his chagrin. However this would become an integral part of their relationship, and Aruto would eventually look forward to her doing so over time.

As only the physical satellite was hijacked, Is was able to reestablish There's interface using her internal memory through experiencing the emotion of sadness.

• Combatant: Possibly due to the cognitive learning via watching Aruto's battles, Is as Kamen Rider Zero-Two is able to hold herself off of numerous Kamen Rider Abaddons. This is also one of the possible reasons Akiko was able to recruit Is into the Girls Remix.

Former Weaknesses

• Lack of Backup: Like Was Nazotoku, Humagears directly affiliated with Aruto or the Zero-One Rider System lack a backup system in There, meaning their destructions are permanent and data cannot be recovered. According to Was, this is to prevent the identity and secrets of Zero-One should an enemy take advantage of it. The Zero-Two Progrisekey and Hiden Zero-Two Driver seems to be able to circumvent this, being made of a part of Is's original memories and having There's interface in it, enabling her data to be uploaded into a rebuilt Is.

Kamen Rider Zero-Two (仮面ライダーゼロツー, Kamen Raidā Zerotsū) is the final form of Zero-One accessed by using the Zero-Two Progrisekey in Hiden Zero-Two Driver.

Zero-Two's specs surpass Ark-Zero in all areas by a large degree. • Aruto Hiden/Kamen Rider Zero-One: Following Korenosuke Hiden's will, Aruto was appointed as the new CEO of Hiden Intelligence with Is as his assisstant. While getting along well, Aruto initially got annoyed whenever she explained his jokes, but soon got used to it and her attempts at mimicking them. Their relationship deepened, as she reached Singularity and continued as his assistant by choice in order to help him achieve his dream. • Isamu Fuwa/Kamen Rider Vulcan: Isamu harbors deep hatred towards Humagears after the Daybreak Town Accident, which also extends to Is. As Isamu began to warm up to the Humagears, his view of Is improved vastly, with the two now recognizing each other as allies. However, Is doesn't like Isamu's wild, reckless nature and compares it to a gorilla, much to his outrage.
• Was Nazotoku: Is's older brother, who was created as a prototype model to her. At first, she had doubts about his validity as a detective and sibling due to his goofy attitude, with her suspecting that he's reached Singularity. When Was sacrificed himself to complete the Shining Hopper Progrisekey, Is finally recognized him as not only a great detective, but a kind sibling, even calling him 'Big Brother'. Is also kept Was's pocket watch as a memento.
• Jin/Kamen Rider Jin: When Jin was in sorrow over the "death" of Horobi, Is declared that the leader of MetsubouJinrai.net had fallen, all while smiling during the speech. This act enraged Jin, who severely damaged her in vengeance before silently retreating. After his return, Jin returned her deactivated body to Aruto, and he was the one who convinced Is (along with encouragement from Aruto) to live out her life in her own way without There or the Ark, allowing Is to reach Singularity.
• Gai Amatsu/Kamen Rider Thouser: Being almost affected by Gai's past actions herself, Is shows hostility towards him, strictly teaching him the correct way to bend towards Aruto when the former was genuinely feeling sorry.
• Horobi/Kamen Rider Horobi: Like Aruto, Is believed that Horobi can be brought back to his original nature and tried her best to convince him and prove it. Her trust in Aruto's belief and Humagears ultimately led her to be destroyed at the hands of Horobi, who, during his invasion, refused to listen to anything she said, although in the end if he manages to change.

Enemies

• As: Is and As are polar opposites. While Is is loyal to Aruto and remains connected to There, As acts as the messenger of the Ark and has a more cunning personality. They only met once within a simulation created by the Ark, and As manages to trick Is into believing that Horobi would become the Ark itself. This lead to a series of events that eventually resulted in Is's death, and Aruto becoming the Ark rather than Horobi.

Portrayal

Is is portrayed by Noa Tsurushima (鶴嶋 乃愛, Tsurushima Noa), who also portrays her evil counterpart As. Her suit actor as Kamen Rider Zero-Two is Satoshi Fujita (藤田 慧, Fujita Satoshi).

Etymology

Is's name is wordplay on the English verb "is".

• In the opening of the series, an "Is with longer hair" appears with blue liquid resembling blood oozing out of her palm and red eyes reminiscent of a Humagear being hacked. This character would later be unfolded as her evil counterpart As.
  • Writer Yuya Takahashi stated this was inserted in by director Teruaki Sugihara as Takahashi himself had yet to conceptualize As then.
