Future Houtaro (未来の宝太郎, Mirai no Hōtarō)[3] is a version of Houtaro Ichinose (一ノ瀬 宝太郎, Ichinose Hōtarō) from an alternate future who transforms into Kamen Rider Gotchard Daybreak (仮面ライダーガッチャードデイブレイク, Kamen Raidā Gatchādo Deibureiku).
He is also the legendary "Alchemist of Daybreak" (暁の錬金術師, Akatsuki no Renkinjutsu-shi) depicted in the book "The Great Path of Alchemy".

History
Background
Houtaro screams in pain from losing his eye.
This iteration of Houtaro followed the events of his main counterpart up until the events of Episode 16, where Glion arrived and propelled Minato's betrayal and the dissolution of the Alchemist Academy. As a result of not having his future self arriving to save him, Houtaro lost his right eye and began wearing an eyepatch over it.
Fighting a losing war for the next five years, Houtaro was forced to witness the deaths of Supana Kurogane, Kyoka Edami, Renge Icho, Sabimaru Tsuruhara, and Minato, all who he personally buried. Eventually in a battle in the Door of Darkness, Rinne Kudo had attempted to close the gate but was ultimately killed by Dark King, leaving Houtaro heartbroken which evolved his powers into the Daybreak set.
In his sadness where a bright future was no longer in the cards, Houtaro found the goggles he once transmuted as a child in the rubble, and retransmuted it into the Gotcharigniter in response. After having mastered his version of Fire Gotchard, he used Daybreak Timelord to time travel into the past.
Arriving in the Past

When his past self was overcome with emotion after failing to protect everyone from the Orochi Malgam, the Gotchardriver suddenly activated on its own and was followed by the arrival of Gotchard Daybreak, who fought and eliminated the many heads of the Orochi Malgam. Keeping his identity hidden, he raised his younger self with two choices: Either leave everything to him or take control over his own future. Gotchard Daybreak instructed Houtaro to make a decision as he battled the Malgam.[Crisis Xmas! The Orochi Incident]
Later when the Moon Malgam was summoned, Daybreak arrived to help his younger self fight it, while warning him of Minato's betrayal.
Later when the Moon Malgam captured Rinne, Renge, and Sabimaru, Daybreak helped his younger self find a method to gain his own copy of the Gotcharigniter, having originally intended to give him his. Young Houtaro ultimately managed to take control of his own future by evolving into a new version of Fire Gotchard, allowing him to defeat the Moon Malgam. With a parallel future having been created, Daybreak returned to his original timeline.[4]
Return to the Future
Though Future Houtaro changed the past, it did not change his future, creating a situation where his timeline ran concurrent with the mainstream timeline. His timeline was briefly witnessed by both Ho-Oh Kaguya Quartz and Butler as they traveled through the Aurora Curtains. However Butler was unable to enter it, leading Kaguya to return to prime Houtaro for help. [Gorgeous Time! Legendary Never Ends]
The Future Daybreak
Houtaro who was briefly wounded stands up to transform and fight against Glion, Dreatroopers, and the Dark Death Masks. He used the Daybreak The Sun Chemy Card who has unknowingly ignored Rinne's voice and inserted it to the Gotcharge Gun and tried to shoot them.
After the past Houtaro and Rinne arrived from the past, Future Hotaro told his younger self what had transpired in the past 20 years, with Glion's attack in December of 2023 being the main event point that caused their timelines to diverge. Having lost hope in fighting for a future, the arrival of his past self reignited his "Gotcha" and he joined his younger self in rescuing the kidnapped victims, including Ichika Sakaki's father. Future Houtaro faced Glion once again, who had now accessed Rider powers himself as Kamen Rider Dorado. Having reignited his "Gotcha" returned to using his signature transformation pose, he defeats Glion.
However, that Glion was revealed to be a doll created by the Dark King, who decided to fight the Riders personally. Future Houtaro reconnects with the Chemies once again, granting him a brand-new form, Shining Daybreak. Alongside Miracle Gotchard and Majade, the three defeat the Dark King.
Going to the Past
As the Dark King lost his physical form, the vengeful remain of his spirit decides to return to the past to redo everything all over again. Houtaro then told his younger self and Rinne that he'll follow Dark King to the past in order to defeat him, citing that he doesn't simply goes to the past, but to create a brand-new future, as the Kamen Rider of Daybreak, Houtaro then uses Daybreak Timelord to chase and defeat Dark King once and for all.
Legacy

In what would become history as depicted in the picture book "The Great Path of Alchemy", having been given the name "Alchemist of Daybreak", Gotchard Daybreak defeated the Dark King and saved the world. His actions would later inspire many young children, including Rinne Kudo to become alchemists in the future.
Personality
Having resided in a dark future, this version of Houtaro is a stern individual who understood the seriousness of his current world situation and traveled to the past in order to change it, resulting in the creation of a parallel timeline where his younger self did not follow his own path.
In the future, Houtaro has developed a deep, inextinguishable rage for his failures of saving his friends and hatred against Glion. As such, his relationship with the Chemies has deteriorated to the point where he no longer considers them as "friends" as he once did. His relationship with the younger Rinne became pessimistic, believing that if he allowed her to go into battle with them, she'd die as she did 20 years ago in his arms.
However, upon learning that his Rinne merged with The Sun and realizing that she never left and after encouragement from his younger self, Houtaro remembered the love he and the Chemies shared and was reminded of the dream he once had. This would eventually result in him using his old transformation pose once again and unlock his final form, Gotchard Shining Daybreak.

- Experienced Combatant: Gotchard Daybreak is shown to be more experienced than Houtaro in combat, as he could easily defeat Orochi Malgam with nothing but combination of Chemy Cards with his Gotcharge Gun and Gotchartornado.
Weaknesses
- Daybreak Timelord: As Daybreak Timelord's powers are disrupted by physical contact with its users' past or future counterparts, this version of Houtaro is likewise limited in the ways he can interact with the present-day Houtaro. In the event that too much contact occurs, as in the case of present-day Houtaro interacting with his 7-year-old self, Daybreak Timelord's powers will immediately deactivate and return Gotchard Daybreak to the original point in time where it was used.

Steamhopper (スチームホッパー, Suchīmuhoppā) is Gotchard Daybreak's grasshopper and steam locomotive-based primary form accessed by using the Daybreak Hopper1 and Daybreak Steamliner Daybreak Chemy Cards in the Gotchardriver (Daybreak ver.).
Gotchard Daybreak stays transformed for the duration he is in the past to avoid making physical contact with his past self. Out of all the Kamen Riders, Gotchard Daybreak has the highest stats of all of them, likely due to him being experienced in the future.
Steamhopper consists of the following parts:
- Daybreak Steamhopper Mask (デイブレイクスチームホッパーマスク, Deibureiku Suchīmuhoppā Masuku): The head.

Needlehawk (ニードルホーク, Nīdoruhōku) is Gotchard's hawk and cactus-based form accessed by using the Hawkstar and Saboneedle Ride Chemy Cards in the Gotchardriver.
Future Gotchard is briefly seen using this form in a flashback before his evolution into Gotchard Daybreak after the Future Rinne's death by the Dark King.

- Future Houtaro is portrayed by DAIGO. As a younger teenager, he is portrayed by Junsei Motojima (本島 純政, Motojima Junsei), who also portrays the main timeline version of the character.

Notes
- In Detail of Heroes, Gotchard Daybreak is referred as Kamen Rider Gotchard Daybrake.[11]
- Gotchard Daybreak is identical to the regular Gotchard except the color scheme is reversed, with orange armor but blue for the compound eyes and inside of the furnace. He also has additional flame details.
- While the official website joked that Gotchard Daybreak never undid his transformation because his civilian identity was "not worth showing" at the time,[12] the in-universe reason given was that he stayed transformed to ensure that he did not come into physical skin-to-skin contact with his younger self as per Timelord's rules.
- Future Houtaro was given an eyepatch for when Motojima began playing his younger self to differentiate him from his present-day timeline self.[13]
- In Future Houtaro's transformation pose, DAIGO incorporates his signature hand sign.
