- "Hopper! (ホッパー!, Hoppā!)"
- ―Hopper1's Cry[src]
Hopper1 (ホッパー1, Hoppāwan) is an Insect Chemy based on a grasshopper and one of Houtaro Ichinose's main allies. It has a small body but a fiery heart. Hopper1 later transmutes itself into Crosshopper once all the Level Number 10 Chemies entrust their power to the Grasshopper Chemy. It would later be transmutated into the Hopper1 Malgam (Dark) (ホッパー1マルガム (冥黒), Hoppā Wan Marugamu (Meikoku)) by Gigist's power.

History[]
Like all other Chemies, Hopper1 was created by alchemists imitating Gigist's alchemy. According to Gigist himself, Hopper1 had the purpose of causing famine to the human food stock.[The Origin of Chemies! I Have Understood]
Hopper1 had at one point met Houtaro Ichinose in his childhood and they became friends, but Houtaro's memories of Hopper1 had been erased by Fuga Kudo.[Chomping Rex! Dangerous X]
Personality[]
Hopper1 is loud and energetic, but cannot engage in human speech and is only heard shouting out its own name. Hopper1 is also deeply attached to Houtaro to the point it tends to hide in his backpack, such as when it recklessly followed Houtaro to Kyoto by hiding in his backpack.

Abilities[]
- Danger Detection : In its sealed form, Hopper1 is able to sense whenever a Malgam appeared and produce sufficient force to drag Houtarou to the Malgam’s location. It can also confirm whether a Malgam is nearby. Hopper1 can also other threats incoming such as the appearance of Hundred.
- Spatial Blocking : Hopper1 could block an attack even in its sealed form, as shown when it blocked one of Dragonfly Malgam attacks that would have otherwise fatally injured Houtarou.
- Re-Transmutation : After obtaining the power of Level Number 10 Chemy, Hopper1 is able to re-transmute itself into an evolved form known as CrossHopper. It can also switch back and forth between it's original and re-transmuted forms at will.
Weaknesses[]
- Gigist : Gigist's powerful tranmustation may make Hopper1's Re-Transmutation ability powerless against him, forcing him revert back to Hopper1's form before transmuted into Malgam. This weakness is later negated after their revival from Nijigon's Rainbow Breath.

Hopper1 Malgam (Dark)
- Statistics[1]
- Height: 213.5 cm
- Weight: 98.1 kg
Hopper1 Malgam (Dark) (ホッパー1マルガム (冥黒), Hoppā Wan Marugamu (Meikoku)) is the Malgam form of Hopper1 who was transmuted by the Dark King Gigist. Hopper1's power to change into a Level Number 10 Chemy was exploited, and was turned into a Malgam with unparalleled power. However, it lacks balance of power and spirit due to Hopper1's strong rejection.
- Abilities
- Locust Swarm Summoning : Hopper1 Malgam can summon a massive locust swarm from its mouth to attack multiple enemies at once. This locust swarm can also form a giant construct of a grasshopper to defeat an enemy in one strike.
- Enhanced Leaping: Hopper1 Malgam is able to jump over long distances.
- Flight: Hopper1 Malgam can fly with its wings.

Hopper1 and Steamliner are transmuted into Gotcharbrothers Steamhopper (ガッチャーブラザーズ スチームホッパー, Gatchāburazāzu Suchīmuhoppā) by Rainbow Gotchard using the Rainbow Hopper1 and Rainbow Steamliner Ride Chemy Cards in the Gotchardriver.
Gotcharbrothers Steamhopper consists of the following parts:
- Brother Steamhopper Mask (ブラザースチームホッパーマスク, Burazā Suchīmuhoppā Masuku): Gotcharbrothers Steamhoppers head.
- Brother Muffler (ブラザーマフラー, Burazā Mafurā): The muffler. It flutters brilliantly as proof of the Gotcharbrothers.
- Brother Chemy Doll (ブラザーケミドール, Burazā Kemi Dōru): The body.
- Brother Boiler (ブラザーボイラー, Burazā Boirā): The boiler. It acts as a pressure regulating valve for steam compression, which strengthens the entire body with high-pressure steam.
- Brother Athanor (ブラザーアタノール, Burazā Atanōru): The conversion furnace. It converts various alchemical materials such as air and water into tremendous energy by burning them. It also synchronizes with Kamen Rider Rainbow Gotchard's conversion furnace to generate power equivalent to that of Rainbow Gotchard.
- Brother Gotchardriver (ブラザーガッチャードライバー, Burazā Gatchādoraibā): The Driver.
- Brother Draw Holder (ブラザードローホルダー, Burazā Dorō Horudā): The cardholder. It can store up to 10 Ride Chemy Cards.
- Brother Hopperling Rusher (ブラザーホッパリングラッシャー, Burazā Hopparingu Rasshā): The arms. By adding steam compression to the muscles that boast excellent agility, it unleashes an ultra-high-speed rush of high-pressure punches.
- Brother Hopperling Pressure (ブラザーホッパリングプレッシャー, Burazā Hopparingu Puresshā): The legs. They boast extremely nimble footwork and excellent jumps. The kicks delivered are weight-changed and steam-compression pressurized with each hop, and by the third hop it becomes a heavyweight attack reminiscent of Steamliner's charge.
This form has the following finishers:

- Fuga Kudo : Fuga is Hopper1's (and by extension, all Chemies') protector in Ouroboros Realm, with it and Steamliner being trusted enough by the man in question to search for a suitable person to wield the Gotchardriver.
- Steamliner : A fellow Chemy that matches (Gotchanko) with Hopper1.

Usage[]
Behind the Scenes[]
Portrayal[]
Hopper1 is voiced by Misato Fukuen (福圓 美里, Fukuen Misato), who voiced Secchan from Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger
.
Etymology[]
Hopper1's name stems from it being a level 1 (1, Wan) Chemy and a grasshopper (ホッパー, Hoppā). Its name also pays a homage to Kamen Rider 1, hence the number and the grasshopper motif.
Notes[]
- The concept for Hopper1 was influenced by Berry in Kamen Rider J. They are both hopper-type mascots serving as the the protagonist's partner.[3]
- The chirping noises heard when Hopper1's card is inserted into the Gotchardriver are reminiscent of the whistles made by the Typhoon and Double Typhoon, the transformation belts of Kamen Riders 1, 2, and V3 respectively.
- In the production blog, the idea of Hopper1 turning into Malgam had been in the planning stages from the beginning since writing the third and fourth episodes. Producer Daigo Matsuura had jokingly brought up the idea in a conversation with main writer Keiichi Hasegawa. During the script meeting for episode 37, sub-writer Akiko Inoue suggested a plot where Houtaro killed a Chemy, leading to Matsuura to suggest Hopper1.[4]
- Furthermore, in an Uchusen interview just before the recording of episode 35, voice actress Fukuen was asked if she had hopes for Hopper1 in the future, and replied that she doesn't want the character to fall into the dark side. But that worst-case scenario ended up being realized by the staff.[5]
- Hopper1 having the initial purpose of causing famine to the human food stock could be a possible reference to how locusts (grasshoppers in their gregarious phase triggered by a boost in serotonin levels)[6] tend to swarm and consume everything in their path, which tends to cause famine when farmland is consumed by these plagues.[7]
- Hopper1 has the colouration of a migratory locust in its solitary phase.
- Hopper1 and Nijigon are currently the only of the original 101 Chemies not to have a RepliChemy variant. Nijigon, however, does have a doppelganger in the form of El Dragon.
