The Henshin Belt Gavv (変身ベルト ガヴ, Henshin Beruto Gavu) is the transformation device used by Kamen Rider Gavv.[1]
In-universe, it is Shoma's gavv, an organ possessed by the Granute. Due to its unique appearance and functionality compared to other gavvs, it is referred to in-series as the Akagavv (赤ガヴ, Akagavu, "Red Gavv").[2]
Overview[]

Due to being part-Granute, Shoma naturally possesses a Gavv. Upon Bouche Stomach's request, Dente Stomach remodeled it so that Shoma could create kin like his siblings. However, he still was unable to do so, leading to the operation being seen as a failure. After coming to the human world, Shoma discovers that he can create his kin, the Gochizo, by eating human snacks. He can then use the Gochizos to transform and gain powers based on their characteristics.
Components[]
The Akagavv is composed of the following parts:
- Gavvdle (ガヴドル, Gavudoru): The chewing organ. Chewing occurs by rotating it.
- Red Jaw (レッドジョー, Reddo Jō): The upper jaw. Due to the enhancement remodeling by Dente Stomach, a Granute of the Stomach Family, it was bestowed with the ability to produce kin. Its abilities awakened by eating the snacks of the human world, allowing Shoma to create kin called "Gochizo" that reflect the taste, texture, and emotions he experienced at that time. Careful continuation of daily toothbrushing will maintain that ability.
- Delicussion (デリカッション, Derikasshon): The lip smack. Smacking it causes a transformation or materialization of the characteristics of the Gochizo.
- Tastetongue (テイスタン, Teisutan): The tongue. It has excellent taste buds that can sense a sixth taste, "feelings," in addition to the basic tastes of sweetness, bitterness, saltiness, sourness, and umami, and it draws out the characteristics of the Gochizo.
- Waitarm (ウェイタム, Weitamu): The injection organ. It transforms and changes the body of the transformer by injecting the characteristics of their kin into them.
Functionality[]
Gochizo Creation[]
Every time Shoma eats a snack from the human world, corresponding Gochizo will be created from the back of the Gavv's throat. For example, if Shoma eats a grape-flavored gummy, the Gavv will spawn Poppingummy Gochizo. Snacks with assorted flavors will spawn Gochizo of each flavor.
However, Gochizo will not be born when Shoma eats normal meals.
Transformation[]
To transform into Kamen Rider Gavv, Shoma opens the Red Jaw of the Gavv, causing the Tastetongue to protrude. He places a Gochizo onto the Tastongue and closes the Red Jaw, which causes the Waitarm to extend from the sides. Rotating the Gavvdle makes the Gavv chew and a transparent plastic wrapper surrounds Shoma as he produces biological tissue resembling the corresponding snack from his body. The transparent wrapper also serves as protection for Shoma against Granute attacks, although Agents' weapons are capable of overcoming this protection. Shoma then hits the Delicussion button, causing the Gochizo to awaken with a shout and the plastic wrapper to burst open. The surrounding snacks fly into the Gavv and the armor materializes around Shoma's transformed body, completing the transformation. Shoma's eyes glow purple during this process.
Using the same kind of Gochizo again will replace any of Gavv's armor that has been damaged. Using a Gochizo that does not have a corresponding form activates a Follow-up Snack Change (追い菓子チェンジ, Oikashi Chenji),[3][4] which accesses an Assist that augments Gavv with additional snacks and grants new powers. For example, the Kickingummy Gochizo grants Gavv's Poppingummy Form increased kicking power with a giant foot, and the Hirihirichips Gochizo ignites the Zakuzakuchipslashers.
Each of the form change Gochizo grant different transformation effects:
- Poppingumny Gochizo summons multiple gummy snacks that pop out from Shoma's body. As he hits the button, all the gummies get absorbed into the Gavv and form the suit.
- Zakuzakuchips Gochizo summons multiple potato chips from Gavv's body. The chips then get absorbed and form the new armor. The Zakuzakuchipslashers appear in his hands.
- Fuwamallow Gochizo doesn’t summon the plastic bag, and instead summons a giant marshmallow that covers Gavv and then form the armor. When he transforms from his human form, he summons dozens of marshmallows from his body. They then converge and form the suit.
- Chocodan Gochizo oozes chocolate out from Gavv's body. As he hits the button, the chocolate gets absorbed and forms the new armor. The Chocodangun appears in his hands.
- Gurucan Gochizo summons multiple hard candies from Gavv's body. As they get absorbed, Gavv's body grows taller and bigger to accommodate the mech suit form.
- Bushel Gochizo summons a Yule log from Gavv's body. As he hits the button, the Yule log splits into separate pieces and form onto his body, the Xmax appearing in his hand.
- Kungfu Ramen Gochizo summons numerous ramen pieces around Shoma's. As he hits the button, the ramen gets absorbed into him, with additional pieces forming the shield.
For power-up Gochizo, their transformation effects differ:
- Caking Gochizo summons whipped cream that ooze from Gavv's body as more come down to cover him. The Gavvwhipir appears and forms the whipped cream into a cake as it breaks apart, revealing the suit. Then, numerous strawberries circle around him as the broken cake pieces form into the armor on him, as the strawberries are placed around the suit to finish.
- Blizzardsorbei Gochizo brings down the temperature as ice mists appear from Shoma's body. As he hits the button, he gets encased in ice as several ice cream cones appear and break the ice, forming the suit and placing themselves onto his body, breaking into pieces that form the armor and completing the transformation.
- The Gochipod when using Over Mode or Master Mode encases Shoma in a similarly-shaped shell, as the large amount of Gochizo that power the Gochipod float around as gummy pieces. Once the button is pressed, the pieces meld together on Shoma's body, and the fully formed armor releases a burst of energy that shatters the shell, completing the transformation.
- Amazingummy Gochizo generates magma from Shoma's feet. As he hits the button, Shoma's body will be engulfed by red flame energy, and several large explosions will occur around him. At the same time as the last explosion occurs in front of him, the energy is converted into the armor of Amazingummy Form, and the transformation process is completed after the explosion disappears.
- The Hexenheim Gochizo summons every types of snack that has been used by Gavv's previous derived forms around him, these energies converge to take the form of a gingerbread house. As he hits the button, the gingerbread house decomposes into multiple colorful small orbs, with a blue light appearing while it forms the armor on Gavv's body, with the Hexen Blade appearing in his hand shortly after.
Finisher[]
Gavv activates a finisher by turning the Gavvdle and pressing the Delicussion again. Once the finisher is performed, the Gochizo inside will die, signified by the Gochizo flying off as souls with wings and halos in a cartoonish manner.
Summoning[]
Certain Gochizo allow Gavv to summon a weapon or vehicle. Gavv can also summon the Gavvgablade at any time by ejecting it from the mouth of the Gavv.

- The naming scheme for the Gavv deviates from the tradition of the primary Rider's transformation belt being named a "Driver", which has been consistent since the Decadriver in Kamen Rider Decade.
- The Henshin Belt Gavv is the first Reiwa Rider belt to be part of the owner's body. The Gavv is also the first ever transformation belt that is an innate organ and thus grows with its owner Shoma.
- The transformation belt is quite similar to the Build Driver since the user has to crank the lever after inserting a trinket.
- Though, the turning the DX toy's handle is not necessary to activate the transformation and finisher announcements.
- While using the Legend Rider Gochizo's on the DX toy will activate the corresponding Rider's transformation sound, it is vocalized in a way that the Gochizos themselves mimic the transformation sounds, rather than directly reusing the originals unlike previous belts with similar gimmicks such as the Decadriver and the Build Driver.
- Despite having numerous extensive modifications by Dente, Shoma's Gavv ultimately remains as the only transformation device in Gavv not to be artificial in origin (the Valenbuster, Vrastumgears, and Bakemagnum were constructed in a laboratory, while the Bitter Gavv was genetically cloned alongside its first owner).
