This article is about a rider machine in Kamen Rider W. |
The Hardboilder (ハードボイルダー, Hādo Boirudā), designated the "MB1000RV", is Kamen Rider Double's personal Honda CBR1000RR motorcycle,[1] based on the original Skullboilder used by Kamen Rider Skull. Like Kamen Rider Double, the Hardboilder is black and green and is also able to change forms by swapping out the back half of the motorcycle after docking with the Revolgarry.[2]
Later history[]
All Rider Break[]
Double got on his Hardboilder, among many other Kamen Riders and their Rider Machines, to perform the All Rider Break attack which ended the final battle with Rock Great Leader. [OOO, Den-O, All Riders: Let's Go Kamen Riders]
Super Hero Taisen[]
In the supposed final battle between the Kamen Riders and Super Sentai, Double rode on the Hardboilder with the other surviving Kamen Riders (Kuuga, Faiz, Kabuto, and Kiva) on their respective motorcycles, led by Rider 1 (actually Decade in disguise) on the New Cyclone. Double used the Hardboilder alongside Kiva and Kabuto to attack the Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger and Denji Sentai Megaranger. Double was next seen off the bike fighting the Zyurangers before being seemingly defeated alongside Kiva by Akaranger (actually Gokai Red in disguise), actually being sent to the dimensional rift. Modes and Combinations[]
Hardturbuler[]
The first combination is the black and red Hardturbuler (ハードタービュラー, Hādo Tābyurā), which is a flying hovercraft-like vehicle. The Hardturbuler is often used by Kamen Rider Double when he is in HeatMetal form.[4] The Hardturbuler is armed with Scramble Cutter (スクランブルカッター, Sukuranburu Kattā) guns. It also can combine with Kamen Rider Accel, forming the AccelTurbuler.
Hardsplasher[]
The other combination is the black and gold Hardsplasher (ハードスプラッシャー, Hādo Supurasshā), a jet ski-like vehicle. This is often used by Kamen Rider Double when he is in LunaTrigger form.[5] The Hardsplasher is armed with a torpedo launcher.
Start Dash Mode[]
The Hardboilder can also be put into Start Dash Mode (スタートダッシュモード, Sutāto Dasshu Mōdo) to increase its speed. The Start Dash Mode components can be detached after deployment to slow down any chasing adversaries.[6]
Hardgunner[]
The Hardgunner (ハードガンナー, Hādo Gannā) is the combination of the front unit of the Hardboilder and Kamen Rider Accel's Gunner A robotic tank. This combination is faster than the Hardboilder and also arms it with the Gaia Cannon.
Legend Rider Signal Bike[]
- Signal Legend Double (シグナルレジェンドW(ダブル), Shigunaru Rejendo Daburu): Allows Mach to activate a Kourin Signal Legend. When used in the DX Drive Driver, it gives the sound for a Tire Exchange into Drive: Double (ドライブ・W(ダブル), Doraibu - Daburu).
Notes[]
- Double appears riding his Hardboilder, among the other Kamen Riders on their Rider Machines, in the animated ending sequence of Heisei Rider vs. Showa Rider: Kamen Rider Taisen feat. Super Sentai.
- The Hardboilder appears in both the Kamen Rider W manga sequel Futo Tantei and its anime adaptation Fuuto PI.
- Each modular unit of the Hardboilder corresponds to one of Kamen Rider Double's six main Gaia Memories. This is reflected by both the unit's color and its function.
- The green Boilder unit, the rear motorcycle wheel, corresponds to the Cyclone Memory. "Cyclone" is also the name of the Rider Machine used by the first two Kamen Riders (who, coincidentally, are collectively known as the "Double Riders").
- The yellow Splasher unit, which allows the vehicle to drive on water, corresponds to the Luna Memory. The ebb and flow of the tides are caused by the influence of the moon's gravity.
- The red Turbler unit, which allows the vehicle to fly, corresponds to the Heat Memory. Hot substances are usually less dense than cold ones and are therefore prone to rise relative to any cold substance in which they are immersed (such as the air in a hot air balloon).
- The black "Hard" unit, which is the front half of the Hardboilder, is based on the Joker Memory. This memory is Shotaro's main memory, and his body is the host for Philip's soul when they are transformed as Double. Similarly, the Hard unit acts as the common host of the four interchangeable rear units.
- Gunner A, which technically corresponds to the Trigger Memory, is the most obvious. Not only is it blue, but it's also literally a tank with a cannon on it.
- The Metal Memory is the only Memory without a corresponding modular unit for the Hardboilder.
- Each of the Hardboilder's combinations corresponds to one of Kamen Rider Double's base forms: CycloneJoker (Hardboilder), HeatMetal (Hardturbler) and LunaTrigger (Hardsplasher and Hardgunner).
- Due to the Hardboilder's front half corresponding to the Joker Memory, Hardturbler and Hardsplasher both technically also correspond to Double's HeatJoker and LunaJoker forms. This is not the case with the Hardgunner, as Gunner-A corresponds to the Trigger Memory, but the Trigger and Joker Memories both belong to Shotaro and therefore both go in the left-hand slot of the Double Driver.
