This article is about a Rider in Kamen Rider Gavv. |
Hanto Karakida (辛木田 絆斗, Karakida Hanto) is a freelance writer who transforms into Kamen Rider Valen (仮面ライダーヴァレン, Kamen Raidā Varen).[1][2]
History
Background
Hanto Karakida was born to his mother Sae Karakida. As a child, he was close with his mother and played with her until she was killed by a wolf-like Granute. After her death, Hanto went to live with his grandmother until her death as well.
By the time Hanto was in high-school, he had become a delinquent and often got into fights. Eventually he was taken in by a journalist named Soji Shioya, who inspired Hanto to follow in his footsteps and become a journalist to find the Granute who killed his mother,
As an adult, 18 years after his mother's death, he had become an experienced writer in his own right and had commissioned the help of Sachika Amane for her handyman services at least three times.
Searching for Gavv
After the arrival of Kamen Rider Gavv and the various Granutes, Hanto chased leads with people who had personally encountered them, such as Hajime Hiroi, who claimed that the "purple monster" saved him. At night, having read reports over social media with pictures of Gavv surfacing as well as having personally seen him, he exclaimed that he finally found the monster. Having named the purple monster "Kamen Rider", Hanto responded to a sighting of "Kamen Rider" and witnessed him destroy the Granute Bon before confronting him. Before Hanto is able to get answers, he is interrupted by Kenzo Suga, a Granute researcher who explains the origins of the Granutes and reveals his method of fighting them.
Continuing his reporting, Hanto responded to a call from Sachika, who reported that Agents were spotted. Hanto staked-out two Agents preparing to submit several Human Press back to the Granute World before they were interrupted by Kamen Rider Gavv. After Gavv freed the humans who then continued to be scared by him, Hanto advocated for him by calling him the superhero "Kamen Rider" who saved him and them from the real monsters.
A Bitter Vengeance
After having helped Gavv free the victims of the Human Presses, he discovered that Soji had taken the stakeout job he was supposed to have taken, which resulted in his death by becoming a Human Press and then broken in half. Angered and blaming himself, he ran to Kenzo with full resolve on taking revenge, having realized he could no longer allow any more of his loved ones to be killed by the Granutes. Kenzo prepared the Valenbuster and Hanto underwent the required Granute surgery before he unleashed his new powers on the Granute Otake.

Chocodon Form (チョコドンフォーム, Chokodon Fōmu)[4] is Valen's chocolate-based primary form accessed by using the Chocodon Gochizo in the Valenbuster.
Being an ordinary human who was just recently enhanced, Valen's stats are inferior to Gavv Poppingummy Form, but he is still strong enough to fight against a Granute.
Chocodon Form consists of the following parts:
- Chocodon Mask (チョコドンマスク, Chokodon Masuku): The head.
- Protect Label (プロテクトラベル, Purotekuto Raberu): The top of the head. A very rigid skeleton is formed to protect the head.
- O Indicator (Oインジケータ, Ō Injikēta): The autonomous hub. It regulates the transformation system and autonomously releases the transformation when the load on the body is exceeded its limits.
- Chocodon Face Bar (チョコドンフェイスバー, Chokodon Feisu Bā): The face. The five human senses - sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell - are concentrated, and with an abundant supply of energy, all abilities are dramatically enhanced.
- Nache Body (ナッシュボディ, Nasshu Bodi): The body. Valen acquired superhuman strength through transformation using Shoma's Gochizo.
- Chocodon Chest Bar (チョコドンチェストバー, Chokodon Chesuto Bā): The chest. The biological tissue generated by using Chocodon Gochizo exhibits excellent endurance and athletic performance due to its high energy density.
- Chocodon Grab Bar (チョコドングラブバー, Chokodon Gurabu Bā): The arms. Very high calorie consumption makes for a heavyweight punch.
- Valenbuckle (ヴァレンバックル, Varenbakkuru): The special mechanism. The Granute organ transplanted in Hanto and the Valenbuster work together to make up the transformation system.
- Bloom Boots (ブルームブーツ, Burūmu Būtsu): The legs. By concentrating the energy of his entire body in his legs, he unleashes a special kick that transcends human power.
This form has the following finishers:
- Valenbuster finisher:
- Chocodon (チョコドン, Chokodon): Valen thrusts the Valenbuster at the chest of a Granute, lifting them up while rapidly shooting at them to launch them in the air. He then charges the Valenbuster to conjure a red energy ball, which then turns into a giant chocolate ball that blasts the Granute. The chocolate ball then breaks apart and covers the Granute in chocolate, before they land and explode.
