"You don't deserve to live."
―Kiryu as he deals with criminals.[src]

Go Kiryu (桐生 豪, Kiryū Gō) was a former member of BOARD and a senior of Sakuya Tachibana and his friends. Originally chosen to use the Garren System, Kiryu's incompatibility with its powers caused him to sustain a critical injury on his arm, turning him into an amputee.

Bitter over his incident and inability to become a Kamen Rider, Kiryu quit BOARD and turned into a merciless vigilante, executing criminals with a prostetic right arm. His declining sanity manipulated by the Spider Undead, Kiryu unwittingly became its new host as the second Kamen Rider Leangle (仮面ライダーレンゲル, Kamen Raidā Rengeru).

History[]

Previously a member of BOARD, Go Kiryu was chosen to be the first user of Garren, only to lose his hand upon attempting to transform with the Garren Buckle. Upset over the incident, Kiryu quit BOARD and developed a warped sense of justice, using his new prosthetic hand to electrocute petty crooks. Eventually, upon the discovery of Kamen Rider Leangle, he briefly used the Leangle Buckle, recognized by the Spider Undead as a more suitable vessel for the Battle Fight.

His insanity worsened by the Spider Undead's effects, Kiryu sought to murder Kenzaki and Tachibana, seeing it as a means to show off his power. Though initially hesitant to retaliate, Tachibana recalled Kiryu's words when they were friends, giving him the courage to fight again.

Upon his defeat by Tachibana as Garren, the Spider Undead abandoned him for Mutsuki Kamijo once more. Deeming him useless, the Spider Undead influenced Mutsuki into murdering Kiryu, causing Mutsuki to summon the Locust, Deer and Jaguar Undead. Fatally wounded by the Undeads, Kiryu let out a painful sound, alerting Kenzaki and Tachibana to his location. Sealing away the Undeads once more, Kenzaki and Tachibana canceled their transformations, only to discover that they had been too late to save Kiryu.

Mourning Kiryu's impending demise, Tachibana became visibly sorrowful. In response, the now sane Kiryu comforted Tachibana, reconciling as friends. Deeming Tachibana as too serious-minded, Kiryu playfully urged him to become more "idiotic". In his final breath, Kiryu then admitted his inner desire to be a Kamen Rider, dying soon after.

Much later, during his battle with Kanai, Tachibana indirectly referenced Kiryu via his actions, shedding a visible smile when referred to as an idiot.

Personality[]

Initially, Kiryu was a good person, being noted by Tachibana and Shiori to have been a rightous figure. From the incident he suffered though, Kiryu's sense of justice became immensely warped, showing no guilt over commiting acts of murder toward petty criminals. Similarly, bitter at Tachibana's reluctance as a Kamen Rider, Kiryu deemed him unworthy to be Garren.

Sensing this destructive aspect of Kiryu, the Spider Undead would choose him as his new host, turning Kiryu into an even more dangerous executioner. Now drunk with power, Kiryu threw away his sense of justice, stating that power was all that ever mattered to him. Attacking several innocents, Kiryu called forth for Kenzaki and Tachibana to fight him as Kamen Riders, wishing to murder them in sadistic glee.

From his defeat and fatal wound though, Kiryu ultimately regained his sanity, allowing him to speak with Tachibana in a peaceful manner. After giving out some words of advice, Kiryu admitted that he had always wanted to become a Kamen Rider, dying with a newfound sense of peace.
