History
Background
- Main article: Dark Kings
In the early days of alchemy, three alchemists who were originally human, abandoned their humanity using the power of Philosopher's Stone and became an entity known as Dark King. Three of them were Germain, who specialised in alchemy, Gaelijah, who specialised in astrology, and Gigist, who created the first Chemies known as Gaiard and Dragonalos. Later on, Dark King created and enslaved Glion.
120 years ago, Dark King were sealed behind Door of Darkness by Alchemist of the Daybreak, and remaining Glion joined Alchemys Union to continue his research.
It is unknown how long he had "lived" before joining the Alchemys Union and began working with Fuga Kudo and his daughter Rinne Kudo. Because of his exposure to them, he began to gradually develop emotions and created the Three Dark Sisters along with other Malice Dolls. At some point, Glion taught at the Alchemist Academy.
The Riot Ten Years Ago
Ten years ago, Glion brainwashed the Alchemist higher-ups into believing that Fuga Kudo was a traitor who ran away with the Chemies and the driver in-development. He and the Three Dark Sisters tracked Fuga to a secret hideout in the Ouroboros Realm and discovered documents about the "Door of Darkness". Although Saboneedle managed to ambush and hit him with a needle attack, Glion remained unfazed and casually removed the needles from his face. He then used a mysterious crystal to turn the Chemy into gold, but Fuga appeared in time to save Saboneedle. The malevolent Alchemist unleashed an energy assault on Fuga, who was swiftly protected by X Wizard and X Fortress while UFO-X imprisoned the sisters. An explosion ensued, destroying Glion's crystal and presumably forcing him and his minions to retreat.
Days later, Glion and the sisters attacked the Alchemys Union Outer Research Facility and headed toward the Ouroboros Realm gate in an attempt to open the "Door of Darkness". While Minato teamed with his junior friend, Daiki Suzuya to stop him, using alchemy to restrain Glion with chains, Glion soon break free by himself using alchemy to transmutate the chain into a Gold Cube, and killed Suzuya afterwards, he then use his alchemy to brainwash all nearby students to kill each other, leaving only Minato alive. Later, in Alchemist Alchemy's basement, Supana Kurogane's parents, Renchi Kurogane and Suzu Kurogane, who try to stop Glion as he tries to opened the Door of Darkness, Glion easily overwhelms them with his own alchemy, and killed them instantly. Glion realized that their son Supana have the potential of possessing Black Flame. After the incident, Glion spent the next ten years in recovery soon after.
Present-day Surfacing
Years later, Glion appeared to the Three Dark Sisters after Lachesis (as the Orochi Malgam) was defeated by Gotchard and Gotchard Daybreak. Atropos asked him who Daybreak was, to which he eerily responded it was time to begin the next experiment. The Alchemist took a Malice Doll from his pocket dimension and fused it with Neminemoon into Moon Malgam. Glion then entered the Alchemist Academy and confronted Minato. He evidently brainwashed the professor into believing that capturing Chemies and creating Malgams would protect the natural order. This caused Minato to become Kamen Rider Dread and turn on Houtaro Ichinose's group. After Moon Malgam's defeat and Gotchard Daybreak's disappearance, Glion ordered Minato to finally get rid of his former student.
When one of his Malice Dolls woke up, Glion fed him with some meat he transmuted. When the Dark Sisters returned and offered him with some Chemies they had captured, he fused Yoacerberus with the doll into Cerberus Malgam and gave Atropos a golden pan flute to control him. The flute was accidentally destroyed later, which caused Cerberus to become rogue and temporarily turned Atropos's right hand into gold. After the Malgam was destroyed by the Kamen Riders and Atropos retreated to the Academy, Glion greeted and apologized to Atropos for the accident.
Later, Glion created Angel Malgam, to continue the plan that failed 10 years ago. The plan was to make Supana hatred towards him increases, and stimulate the black flame ability in his body, then take this power into his own hands. Angel Malgam briefly resurrect Supana's parents, Glion kill them with his own hands in front of Supana, the latter swallowed by strong malice and turned into Wheel Malgam. However, with the help of Houtaro and his allies, Supana reminds of his original intention as an alchemist, successfully suppressed the Black Flame and became Kamen Rider Valvarad. Glion did not take any actions after that, until he suddenly took out the Dreadriver and the card and asked Minato to become Dread Type One.
Next few days, Glion created Pteranodon Malgam, using the power of the Malgam, he succeeded in stealing most of the Ride Chemy Cards that Houtaro and his allies had. While casting a suspicious eye at Iron Gatchard, whose form has been transformed by ancient alchemy, he orders Minato to eliminate the Kamen Riders. After Minato is defeated by Iron Gotchard, he begins preparations to open the Door of Darkness.
In order to get his hands on Gaiard, the most important Chemy to open the Door of Darkness, he frees Dragonalos who was imprisoned inside his golden cube, and seals it in a card. He combines it with an Malice Doll to create Dragon Malgam, the latter defeated all Kamen Riders and attempt to catch Gaiard. However, Dragon Malgam were defeated by Kamen Rider Wind who transformed by Fuga Kudo. Glion seems had anticipated this, as he suddenly stabbed Fuga from behind after Fuga cancels his transformation, stealing his Ride Chemy Cards including Dragonalos, Gaiard, Kuroana and Gigabaham. He then travels to the Ouroboros Realm in search of the "greatest chemistry" he was unable to achieve ten years ago.
Ultimate Plan and First Defeat
As his plans began to flourish, Glion had gathered as many Chemies as he had. When he had enough of them, he had faced Houtaro, Rinne and Supana as Dread Type Two, later upgrading into Type Three. As he defeated the three riders, he got the Gotchardriver and commences the ritual to open the Door of Darkness, revealing his disillusionment with the world and ultimate goal as an alchemist is freezing it in place by turning everything to gold and admiring it for all eternity.
When Glion was about to kill Houtaro for critizing his dream, Minato intervenes and holds him off so Houtaro can reach the Chemies. Houtaro manages to get through to the captured Chemies, and as he saw Hopper1 evolve into Crosshopper, leaving Glion flabbergasted as he knocks Minato away and transforms to Dread to stop this. But he arrives too late to stop Houtaro from fully disrupting the ritual as Iron Gotchard, utterly furious as he attempts to kill the youth. But Houtaro transformed from Iron Gotchard to Platina Gotchard, defeating Glion as he is dragged into the Door of Darkness by Germain to be consumed, leaving his gold cube behind. The gold cube is wielded by Atropos since his defeat, use for creating Malgams.
Later, it was revealed that Glion's actions are known by the Alchemys Union.
Revival and Next Plan
After Germain is defeated by Kamen Rider Rainbow Gotchard, Majade and Valvarad, Atropos uses the gold cube Glion had left to revive his physical body, thereby consuming Germain. Following his resurrection, he declares that he will not perish until his ambitions are achieved and then take his leave with Atropos.
Glion briefly participated in a private meeting between Gigist and Gaelijah, regarding the distribution of the fragments of Philosopher's Stone after Germain was defeated, and tell them that he replaced Germain's posistion, which is equal to a Dark King. Although this caused dissatisfaction from them, the remaining two Dark Kings did not choose to stop Glion's next action.
Glion planning of using Isaac to create his own armies, so he targeted the Kongo Laboratory, during the process, he used the 102nd Chemy Kamedoon to forcibly transform Mami Kongo into a Malgam to hinder the Kamen Riders. After he untied the barrier and found the location of the Laboratory, Glion successfully stole Kenichi Tsuruhara's tablet and forced the latter to transform into Kamedoon Malgam (Dark) to further stopping the Kamen Riders. He also created a Dreatrooper by transmuting the Kenchi's tablet into Dreadriver, as his one of experiment. After observing Kamedoon Malgam and the Dreadtroopers rampaging for a while, he whispered something to Mami who called out to him, and then left the battle.
Glion then returned to the throne room and embraced Atropos, who had prepared the throne. He muttered to her "I'll show you something good," and threw the metal fittings, creating countless Dreadrivers. Glion would later reverse the Eldoradriver utlilized by his future self.
Revealing His True Colors
Glion focuses on creating more Dreatroopers ignored the other Dark Kings' actions before confronting Gaelijah to ask what the difference was between her and the others being defeated by Kamen Riders. Despite his dislike of Clotho aiding Gaelijah, he accepts her pleas forgive Lachesis, understanding the strength of her love for her family.
One day in his throne room, Glion has Atropos dressed in new clothes as a "gift" and reads "The Great Path of Alchemy" in front of her. Their appearance was just like that of Fuga and Rinne. When he learned from Atropos that Supana had performed 101st transmutation and was plotting to defeat the Dark King, he muttered "People who sacrifice themselves are a bit troublesome..." and sent Atropos to scout, unfortunately Atropos is kidnapped by Clotho under Gaelijah's order.
Learning of Gaelijah's plan to use Atropos to create a Chimera, Glion seemed to panic as he begs Fuga for help. Fuga agreed since both wish to save their daughters from Gaelijah, who traps the two into playing a Russian roulette-like death match before Kamen Rider Gotchard interenes as Bulletchouco Wild so the men can reach their daughters. But Glion uses the brief embrace to alter the transmutation circles on Atropos and Rinne's hands, revealing that he knew Gaelijah's plan and intends to use the Chimera for his agenda of creating El Dorado. He then admits even if the plan fails should Rinne die, he would still be satisfied over Fuga's look of despair. Seeing Atropos's shock that her creator never intended to save her, Glion drives it home by admitting that never once loved her. Glion is indifferent to the plan falling apart when Atropos sacrificed herself to protect Rinne from Gaelijah and aid her in spirit as Twilight Majade, acquiring one half of the destroyed Gaelijah's Philosopher's Stone while other half ends up with Gigist. Glion gets revenge on Gigist by imitating his catchphrase of understanding everything and tells him his ambitions, before leaving from the battle.
Final Battle
After Glion absorbed Germain and Gaelijah's Philosopher's Stone fragments, he transmuted the El Dragon Dark Ether Chemy Card in his throne room. With his final plan set well in motion, hours later, Glion sent El Dragon to retrieve Gigist's Philosopher's Stone after his defeat at Supana's hands. Initially choosing not to make his presence known, Glion reveals himself by fatally wounding Lachesis with an alchemical beam after she attempts to catch the El Dragon; callously leaving his dying creation for Supana and company to "dispose of" before teleporting away. Though Supana attempted to give chase, he ultimately chose to remain by Lachesis' side as she ultimately expired.
The following day, Glion confronted Houtaro in Kitchen ICHINOSE in a bid to provoke his nemesis, implying he had brought harm to someone very close to him. After Tamami Ichinose returned to the store, Glion feigned politeness and greeted her. Claiming Houtaro had done much for him several times, he quickly excused himself, and left the scene. Glion enacted the final phase of his scheme, using the completed Philosopher's Stone to manufacture a gigantic floating golden puzzle cube and a legion of gigantic Dreatroopers. Once confronted by Houtaro and company, Glion metamorphosed the Philosopher's Stone into the Eldoradriver, using it to transform into Kamen Rider Eld and demonstrate his newly perfected mastery of gold. Showcasing his control over the Dreatroopers and El Dragon's Golden Breath, Eld claims his first two victims: Minato and Kyoka Edami.
After Houtaro's team is forced to retreat, Glion retreated into his puzzle cube to survey his conquest. Not long after, he was confronted by Clotho, who transformed into Dread Type Three in an attempt to avenge her fallen sisters. Though Clotho had tamed the power of Type Three, even utilizing the power of all Level 10 Replichemy Cards, she was swiftly subdued and mortally wounded by an untransformed Glion. Houtaro infiltrated the puzzle cube moments after, comforting Clotho as she passed before confronting Glion in one final battle for the future of mankind and the Chemies.
The ensuing battle was swiftly in Eld's favor, as he proved the El Dragon's power by progressively gilding all of Gotchard's 101 Chemies. With the resultant overuse of the Gotchardriver to transform damaging it beyond repair, Eld commanded his Dreatroopers to gild Houtaro, before subsequently putting a golden end to Earth as a whole with the gilded Nijigon's power. Just as Eld relished his victory, Houtaro broke free from his golden state through pure willpower, sucker-punching Eld and transmuting a brand-new Gotchardriver. Using it to transform into Kamen Rider Gotchard Ultima Steamhopper, Houtaro transmuted all Dreatroopers, along with the golden coating created by Eld, to create the New Earth, surpassing Eld in all aspects.
A single uppercut from Gotchard was enough to send Eld skyrocketing into space. Careening into New Earth, Eld broke down, wondering just how such a marvelous alchemical feat was even possible. Gotchard confronted him one last time, thoroughly beating down Eld with the assistance of the 101 Chemies. Ultimately, Gotchard proved the victor, clashing against Eld's last-ditch Rider Kick with his own, before blasting right through his torso.
Death and Legacy
Upon Glion's defeat at the hands of Gotchard and all 101 Chemies, all fragments of the Philosopher's Stone were absorbed by every Chemy, equally distributed with each possessing one percent of the artifact's power. Finding some measure of respect for Houtaro as he lay dying, Glion exclaimed in awe at the beauty of his adversary's chemistry before his homunculus body deteriorated and collapsed into a pile of black coals, putting a definitive end to the sinister alchemist's schemes.

Personality
Glion, a sadistic and malicious individual, is obsessed with turning everything into gold. He views people as nothing but pawns in his twisted experiments, manipulating and exploiting them without a shred of remorse. The Three Dark Sisters serve him, but he treats them as expendable as well. Similarly, the Malgams are mere tools for his morbid curiosity, created to test the power of the Chemies.
Glion delights in the suffering and exploitation of others, but in a level of morbidity that can be described as abnormal. He orchestrated the death of Supana's parents to fuel the boy's hatred, transforming him into the Wheel Malgam. He even exploited the Alchemy Alliance’s higher ups by rewriting their memories to prevent Fuga from stopping his plans. This cruelty extends to everyone he deems an obstacle. When Minato confronted him, Glion threatened to kill his students like he did with his friend Daiki, manipulating him into becoming Kamen Rider Dread.
Glion's personality is a mix of sadism and instability. He exhibits signs of repressed psychopathy and highly-strung emotions, with erratic behavior like jittering when excited or enraged. This instability explodes when faced with setbacks, such as the Chemies breaking free from his control thanks to Houtaro's encouragement. Ironically, his downfall stems from his very obsessions: his contempt for humanity, his morbid fascination with negativity, and his gold-obsessed vision. It was because of these obsessions that he underestimated the true power of the Chemies and their friendship and bonds with Houtaro, leading to his first defeat in a frenzy of rage and confusion. When at times of defeat, he speaks in a glitched-out and unstable tone after being damaged, unable to move or speak properly.
After his resurrection, Glion gradually became more confident, and his words were filled with more emotion than before, as if he was influenced by the original owner of his body, Germain. He became more adept at disguising his true attitudes in front of others, presenting himself as a polite, tolerant person. When facing his enemy, he unreservedly drops his disguise and tries to irritate them, while not forgetting to show his hatred towads his enemy. At the same time, his obsessions of gold became even stronger, and was determined to achieve it by any means.
It is then revealed that the source of Glion's abnormality is from his experience with the Kudo family, his attempt to understand and admire the family's feelings gradually developing into sheer envy. But in the end, he only used the Three Sisters as tools to achieve his goals, and never poured a bit of love into them. Therefore, Atropos having been created in Rinne's image as a child, all his actions were just a poor imitation of Fuga's affection for Rinne.

Abilities
- Gold Conversion: Glion could turn anything into gold by using a crystal he had. After he become Kamen Rider Eld, he could even turn humans into gold as well. Later, it is revealed that this ability was never perfected; it would not transform matter into gold, but instead cover the object in a layer of gold. [3]
Weaknesses
- Imperfect Alchemy: Due to Kamen Rider Eld's alchemy power being imperfect, he is unable to actually transform matter into gold, but only instead cover everything in a layer of gold. Anyone with a strong will and alchemy skills can break through the shell of gold plating from the inside out. Once they break the gold shell, they can freely move and transmute these gold fragments into other materials to fight against Eld.
Former Weaknesses
- Limited Durability: Despite being an alchemical doll with an extraordinary physique, Glion is still defeated by several entities many times stronger than himself. Not only that, but when he faced Fuga, who is known as the most powerful alchemist, Glion was injured after colliding with his energy blast wave, and it took him ten years to recover. The Dread Type Three he transformed into was also easily defeated by Platina Gotchard and the rest of the Chemies. His creator, the Dark Kings, could reach out a hand from the Door of Darkness and consume him. This improved after Glion took over Germain's body and had the same physique as a Dark King.

Kamen Rider Eld's power is on par with Rainbow Gotchard and the Gotcharbrothers. In addition, with the power of El Dragon's Golden Breath, Eld can turn everything into gold and lose vitality, and can even turn Chemies into gold instantly to prevent his opponent to transform into Kamen Rider. He can also deliver gold beam from his hand, with the same power as Golden Breath. However, this ability does not actually turn the mass of the object itself into gold, but rather, it only coats the surface of the object with a layer of gold.[8]
By rotating the Golder Cubic Ratio on the Eldoradriver, Eld can use the abilities from each of Dark Kings:
- Theurgia (テウルギア, Teurugia): By using Gigist's Theurgy power, Eld delivers a ring of energy in black and red colors, allowing him wipe out enemies surrounding him.

Glion is portrayed by Kenta Kamakari (鎌苅 健太, Kamakari Kenta). As Kamen Rider Eld, his suit actor is Kenya Saitou (齊藤 謙也, Saitou Kenya).
Etymology
- According to writer Keiichi Hasegawa, Glion is named after the sculptor Pygmalion of Greek mythology, a sculptor who fell in love with a statue he had carved.[9]
- As Kamen Rider Eld, same as Kamen Rider Dorado, it is named after El Dorado, the lost city of gold in Spanish folklore, tying in to both Glion's penchant for the metal and the color's close association with both him and alchemy in general.
Notes
- Glion's objective to turn everything into gold alludes to Chrysopoeia, where it refers to a transmutation in alchemy that turns lead into gold.
- Kamen Rider Eld's suit is retooled from Kamen Rider Zi-O Ohma Form and repainted from Kamen Rider Super Gotchard Cross XRex's armor. The arm guards are also from Kamen Rider Revice.
- According to writer Keiichi Hasegawa, Glion is based on Norman Stansfield (Played by Gary Oldman) in Léon: The Professional.[10]
