Gen Urobuchi (虚淵 玄, Urobuchi Gen) is a Japanese writer for visual novels, light novels, and anime. He is famous/infamous for his work in Puella Magi Madoka Magica and Fate/Zero. He is also known for his dark style, nihilistic themes, and tragic plot twists, giving him the nickname "the Urobutcher" from English-speaking fans of Gen's work.

In the Kamen Rider Series franchise, he is the writer for the 15th series installment, Kamen Rider Gaim.

A tokusatsu fan, Gen Urobuchi is fond of the Space Sheriff seriesIcon-crosswiki, especially GavanIcon-crosswiki. He watched Kamen Rider Black in his high school days and also read the Kamen Rider Black manga by Shotaro Ishinomori himself.
