Icon-ryukiThis article is about a Mirror Monster in Kamen Rider Ryuki.

Gelnewt (ゲルニュート, Gerunyūto, 17 & 18): A humanoid Newt monster that wielded a shuriken as its weapon and could produce globs of sticky gel. It avoided a double Strike Vent blast from Ryuki and Raia (using Copy Vent), before later being destroyed by Ryuki's Dragon Rider Kick Final Vent. Gelnewt appeared in Shinji's dream during the Hyper Video special, being among those destroyed in Zolda's End of World Final Vent.

Character History

Kamen Rider Ryuki

[The Grieving Knight][Jailbreak Rider]

Kamen Rider Decade

Gelnewts serve as the Oni Brothers' foot soldiers. They accompanied Mimihiko in acquiring a vase for their master's agenda. Unlike previously, they talk and wield swords. [Super Den-O Beginning]

Gelnewt Oni Face, Onigashima Warship

Gelnewt's oni face

A brief glimpse of their "true" oni faces is seen, potentially suggesting these foot soldiers aren't actually the same monster as Ryuki's Gelnewts. Looking for the Trump Stone, they try twice to chase the boy Yu, but fail first to New Den-O, then to Yu escaping to the DenLiner. Serving Kuchihiko in the 1500s, they attack a village but are fought back by the arriving DenLiner crew. They again fight the crew and villagers when attacked, but are eventually defeated along with the Oni Brothers. [Cho Kamen Rider Den-O & Decade Neo Generations: The Onigashima Warship]

Notes

  • According to the Kamen Rider Decade costume design book "Detail of Heroes 04: KAMENRIDE", Gelnewts appeared as Mimihiko's minions because a large quantity of the costumes was left over from the filming of the American adaptation Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight where they had been used as the foot soldiers for Xaviax, only having been a regular monster-of-the-fortnight in Ryuki.
