The 4-Mode Change Gan Gun Saber (4モード変形 ガンガンセイバー, Yon Mōdo Henkei Gan Gan Seibā, lit. "Eye Gun Saber") is a sword-like multiform weapon wielded by Kamen Rider Ghost. It made its first appearance in episode 47 of Kamen Rider Drive. It is summoned from either the Ghost Driver or the Eyecon Driver G by Ghost. When summoned by Grateful Damashii, if applicable, the Heroic Eyecon spirits each hold their own main mode of the weapon; even those usually armed with the Sunglasseslasher sometimes instead hold the Gan Gun Saber, such as Himiko wielding Naginata Mode. [Do-or-Die! Ready for Infiltration!]

Design

The Gan Gun Saber is composed of the following parts:

  • Quantum Blade (クァンタムブレード, Ku~antamu Burēdo) - The bluish-green outermost sections of the Saber. It is formed with the Quantum Solid (クァンタムソリッド, Ku~antamu Soriddo) metal alloy, and the surface is covered with particles that decompose other substances on contact, making it possible to cut almost anything on Earth.
  • Quantum Divider (クァンタムディバイダー, Ku~antamu Dibaidā) - The squiggly pattern frame in the middle of the Gan Gun Saber, it is also formed with Quantum Solid. It covers the entire weapon with an energy shield, and durability is drastically raised by tightly connecting each part of the Saber.
  • Decider Grip (ディサイダーグリップ, Disaidā Gurippu) - The handle of the Saber. It has a function of controlling the center of gravity in the weapon according to the user's movement, stabilizing the weapon's behavior and accuracy at the time of the attack. Additionally, there is an energy bullet-generating device inside of it, allowing it to create a staggering amount of energy bullets at one time.
  • Candle Chamber (キャンドルチャンバー, Kyandoru Chanbā) - The gray pipes running across the Saber, it supplies the weapon with energy received from the Energy Eye Crest to allow the user to initiate deathblows.
  • Energy Eye Crest (エナジーアイクレスト, Enajī Ai Kuresuto) - the portion of the handle imprinted with Ghost's logo. By holding it over the Ghost Driver's Glint Eye, Eye Contact (アイコンタクト, Ai Kontakuto) is initiated, transferring energy from the Glint Eye to the Energy Eye Crest. Afterward, the energy is fed into the weapon via the Candle Chambers, allowing the Rider to deal finishing deathblows.
  • Gan Gun Trigger (ガンガントリガー, Gan Gan Torigā) - The trigger of the Saber. It is used to deal deathblows and shoot out of the Gan Gun Saber's gun mode.
  • Shoot Pointer (シュートポインター, Shūto Pointā) - the little black segment jutting out of the edges of the Saber, right next to the Quantum Blades. They are miniature aiming devices that correct shooting behavior and corrects aiming behavior during release.
  • Chandelieran Muzzle (シャンデリアンマズル, Shanderian Mazuru) - the muzzle of the Gan Gun Saber at the top part of Sword Mode and the front end of the Gun Mode, it is located next to the Quantum Divider. It has a built-in output adjustment device, adjusting the electromagnetic force to control the speed and power of the fired bullet. Depending on the adjustment, the Rider can shoot high speed, continuous or long ranges shots, or fire charged shots that explode on contact.

Modes

The Gan Gun Saber has four basic modes along with three additional modes it can access by combining with a specific Ghost Gadget. Each mode is most compatible with a different Damashii form that Ghost assumes, though each could theoretically be used in any. In addition, the weapon can be summoned before Takeru transforms by summoning the Ghost Driver. This allows Takeru to defend himself before transformation or use it to remove obstacles or objects. [Fast Shooting! Legendary Gunman!] Should the weapon be destroyed, Takeru can simply summon another copy from the Ghost Driver [Appearance! The Mysterious Warrior!] or the Eyecon Driver G.

  • Blade Mode (ブレードモード, Burēdo Mōdo): The default mode, primarily used in Ore Damashii. Later on, Ghost uses Blade Mode alongside the Sunglasseslasher's Sword Mode when using Toucon Musashi Damashii.
  • Naginata Mode (ナギナタモード, Naginata Mōdo, lit "Double Blade Mode"): While assuming Ore Damashii, or once when in Musashi Damashii, Ghost can detach one half of the Gan Gun Saber's twin-sided blade and then connect it to the bottom of the hilt. First appears in episode 4.
  • Nitouryu Mode (二刀流モード, Nitōryū Mōdo, lit "Two Sword Mode")[1]: After transforming into Musashi Damashii, Ghost separates the Gan Gun Saber's twin-sided blade into dual one-sided swords. First appears in episode 1.
  • Gun Mode (ガンモード, Gan Mōdo): After transforming into either Edison Damashii or Billy the Kid Damashii (though also used by Ore Damashii), Ghost tilts the Gan Gun Saber's hilt down and then rotates the top half of its twin-sided blade to reveal a gun barrel. First appears in episode 2.

  • Arrow Mode (アローモード, Aro Mōdo): After transforming into Robin Damashii, Ghost attaches the Condor Denwor in Condor Mode to the front of the Gan Gun Saber in Blade Mode with the handle bent like in Gun Mode. First appears in episode 3.
  • Rifle Mode (ライフルモード, Raifuru Mōdo): After transforming into Billy the Kid Damashii, Ghost attaches the Bat Clock in Gun Mode to the front of the Gan Gun Saber in Gun Mode. First appears in episode 7.
  • Hammer Mode (ハンマーモード, Hanmā Mōdo): After transforming into Benkei Damashii, Ghost attaches the Kumo Lantern in Kumo Mode to the tip of the Gan Gun Saber in Naginata Mode. First appears in episode 9.

Finishers

The Gan Gun Saber uses different names for its Omega Drive finishers, with each one corresponding to an alternate mode. To activate them, Ghost must scan the Energy Eye Crest (エナジーアイクレスト, Enajī Ai Kuresuto)[2] on his Gan Gun Saber's hilt with the Ghost Eyecon currently placed within his Ghost Driver in a process known as Eye Contact (アイコンタクト, Ai Kontakuto). Additionally, after scanning the Energy Eye Crest on the Gan Gun Saber's hilt with the Ghost Eyecon currently placed within his Ghost Driver, Ghost pulls and pushes the lever of the Ghost Driver to enhance the Gan Gun Saber's finisher.

  • Omega Break (オメガブレイク, Omega Bureiku): In Blade Mode, Ghost charges the blade with swirling orange energy before he presses the trigger on its handle to cleave through the target.
  • Omega Stream (オメガストリーム, Omega Sutorīmu): In Naginata Mode, Ghost charges each weapon's bladed end with swirling blue energy before he presses the trigger on its handle to rapidly slash the target with both blades.
  • Omega Slash (オメガスラッシュ, Omega Surasshu): In Nitouryu Mode, Ghost batters the opponent with his weapon's blades as they charge up energy before he presses the trigger on its handle when he's in position to cut down the opponent to make the charge be expelled upon the last hit.
    • In episode 6, Ghost combined this finisher with Musashi Damashii's Omega Drive to create a supercharged slash that also generated smaller energy blades that continue to slash at the opponent after the initial one.
  • Omega Shoot (オメガシュート, Omega Shūto): In Gun Mode, Ghost charges energy into the muzzle of his weapon before unleashing a powerful shot. If this finisher is used while in Edison Damashii, it can be enhanced with electrical energy.
  • Omega Strike (オメガストライク, Omega Sutoraiku): In Arrow Mode, Ghost pulls on the energized "bowstring" of his weapon which makes an array appear to shield him from incoming attacks. Once charged, Ghost lets the energized arrow fly and pierce its target with great force.
    • In episode 4, Ghost combined this finisher with Robin Damashii's Omega Drive to create a ring of functional Kamen Rider Ghost Robin Damashii copies when the Book Ganma tried to confuse the Rider by cloning himself and running around in a circle.
  • Omega Impact (オメガインパクト, Omega Inpakuto): In Rifle Mode, Ghost charges an energy bullet as the Bat Clock winds its clock and projects an energy construct of a scope lens to lock on to the target. Once the clock hands point at the muzzle of the gun barrels and the energy is fully charged, the Rifle fires a powerful shotgun blast which destroys the target.[3]
  • Omega Bomber (オメガボンバー, Omega Bonbā): In Hammer Mode, Ghost charges energy to the Kumo Lantern, then slams the weapon on the ground, generating energy constructs shaped like the weapons found on the Face Seven Arms faceplate, which are then flung at the opponent. When Ghost uses this finisher in his Toucon Benkei Damashii form, he creates a flaming version of the finisher.[4] Omega Bomber can also be used as an earthquake attack after Ghost slams the weapon on the ground.
    • In episode 10, Ghost combined this finisher with Benkei Damashii's Omega Drive to create a super charged Hammer Mode strike after lifting himself in the air by spinning the Gan Gun Saber fast enough to take to the air, then slammed the Hammer onto the hapless Seiryuto Ganma.
  • An alternate version of the finishers above is the emotion-powered finishers of Mugen Damashii, done by pulling and pushing the Ghost Driver once. The resulting finisher may vary depending on the Gan Gun Saber's mode.
    • Yorokobi Stream (ヨロコビストリーム, Yorokobi Sutorīmu, lit. "Joy Stream"): Using the Gan Gun Saber in Naginata Mode, Ghost charges each weapon's bladed end with swirling blue energy before he presses the trigger on its handle to rapidly slash the target with both blades in the form of an Infinity Symbol.
    • Tanoshii Strike (タノシーストライク, Tanoshī Sutoraiku, lit. "Fun Strike"): Using the Gan Gun Saber in Arrow Mode, Ghost pulls on the energized "bowstring" of his weapon which makes an array appear to shield him from incoming attacks. Once charged, Ghost lets the energized arrow fly and pierce its target with great force in the form of an Infinity Symbol.
    • Shinnen Impact (シンネンインパクト, Shinnen Inpakuto, lit. "Faith Impact"): Using the Gan Gun Saber in Rifle Mode, Ghost charges an energy bullet as the Bat Clock winds its clock and projects an energy construct of a scope lens to lock on to the target. Once the clock hands point at the muzzle of the gun barrels and the energy is fully charged, the Rifle fires a powerful shotgun blast which destroys opponents.
    • Isama Shoot (イサマシュート, Isama Shūto, lit. "Valiant Shoot"): Using the Gan Gun Saber in Gun Mode, Ghost charges energy into the muzzle of his weapon before unleashing a powerful pink shot.
      • In Episodes 40 and 42, Ghost combined this finisher with the Sunglasseslasher's Omega Flash shooting a powerful purokeshot with the Gan Gun Saber and a rainbow shot with the Sunglasseslasher.
    • Ikari Slash (イカリスラッシュ, Ikari Surasshu, lit. "Anger Slash"): Using the Gan Gun Saber in Nitouryu Mode, Ghost batters the opponent with his weapon's blades as they charge up energy before he presses the trigger on its handle when he's in position to cut down the opponent to make the charge be expelled upon the last hit.
      • In Episodes 42 and 46, Ghost combined this finisher with the Gan Gun Saber in Blade Mode and the Sunglasseslasher Sword Mode's Omega Shine delivering a powerful red slash with the weapons.
    • Kanashimi Break (カナシミブレイク, Kanashimi Bureiku, lit. "Sadness Break"): Using the Gan Gun Saber in Blade Mode, Ghost charges the blade with swirling blue energy before he presses the trigger on its handle to cleave through the target.
    • Love Bomber (ラブボンバー, Rabu Bonbā): Using the Gan Gun Saber in Hammer Mode, Ghost charges energy to the Kumo Lantern, then slams the weapon on the ground, generating energy constructs shaped like a Heart, which are then flung at the opponent.

Ganbarider

The Gan Gun Saber (Blade/Two Sword/Gun (optionally alongside Bat Clock Gun Mode)/Hammer Mode) is also among the various Rider Weapons used by Ganbarider in Kamen Rider Battle: Ganbarizing.

Notes

  • The Gan Gun in Gan Gun Saber is based on the word Gan Gan (ガンガン), which is an onomatopoeia of pounding or banging on something. It is also used as an onomatopoeia of gunfire.
  • The Gan Gun Saber's design is based on candle stand.
  • In the toyline, Specter's Cobra Keitai can be attached to the DX Gan Gun Saber to form a Scythe Mode. In this mode, it can execute the Omega Crash (オメガクラッシュ, Omega Kurasshu) finisher.
    • Omega Crash would later become the finisher for the Gan Gun Catcher in Rod Mode.
  • The Gan Gun Saber has similarities to the DenGasher from Kamen Rider Den-O, as it is a sword weapon that can reconfigure its parts into different weapons to give it versatility in combat whenever Ghost initiates a form change.
    • The main difference is that this weapon is more versatile, being only composed of two parts and requiring a third component for three other configurations.
      • While the DenGasher is only effective as a weapon when the components are combined, the Gan Gun Saber has no inert form requiring a transition into a weapon.
    • If one were to add the Combination configurations, the Gan Gun Saber has a grand total of seven modes, which is two more than Den-O's DenGasher (one if New Den-O's Naginata Mode in Vega form counts). This means Ghost's weapon has the most alternate configurations of any Kamen Rider's weapon in the entire franchise thus far.
  • The way Ghost summons the Gan Gun Saber from his Driver is similar to how Kamen Rider Black RX summons the Revolcane from his Sunriser and how Kamen Rider Agito summons either the Flame Saber or the Storm Halberd from his Altering.
    • The difference is that while Black RX and Agito can only summon their weapons from their transformation belts in their Rider forms, Ghost can summon the Gan Gun Saber from the Ghost Driver even when not transformed.
