The Gaia Memories (ガイアメモリ, Gaia Memori), retroactively called the T1 Gaia Memories, are mysterious USB-like devices that represent all of Earth's knowledge. Through specific means, they enable users to become either a Dopant or a Kamen Rider while harnessing the powers and skills relating to the aspects of the Gaia Memory. They are distributed to the citizens of Futo via the black market by Museum, an underground organization headed by the Sonozaki Family that hopes to use the data collected from the Dopants they create to orchestrate a second Gaia Impact. Every Gaia Memory is adorned with the first letter of its name, stylized to reflect the powers it imbues on its user.

Overview[]

Gaia Memories are aspects of the True Gaia Memory, the knowledge of everything on the Earth. These were originally accessed due to Philip's link to the Gaia Memory by means of the Gaia Library (地球ほしの本棚, Hoshi no Hondana). But after he was taken from them, the Sonozaki Family uses a strange temple underneath their mansion to access the Gaia Memory. They then sell these to the highest bidder or to common criminals, both of whom are used as guinea pigs to study the Gaia Memories as part of the Gaia Impact project.

Dopant Memory Usage[]

Using Gaia Memories directly with the human body will result in the host transforming into a Dopant. This is done by inserting the Memory into a USB-port like tattoo called the Living Connector (生体コネクタ, Seitai Konekuta) anywhere on the body, which said tattoo is produced using the L.C.O.G. When the Memory comes into contact with the tattoo, the Memory is entirely absorbed by the user's body, transforming them into a Dopant. Memories can also be used without a Living Connector but at the cost of additional side effects such as severe physical pain and bruising after several uses. Like narcotics, Dopant transformation is highly addictive and will eventually drive the users insane. To avoid this, the Sonozaki Family use special belts called Memory Drivers (メモリドライバー, Memori Doraibā) to filter out the negative side-effects in exchange for overall strength.

The full potential of a Gaia Memory depends on the compatibility between the Memory and its users, as if there were some "destined connection" as exampled by Katsumi Daido and the NEVERs. High and low respectively, the compatibility rate can either result in a Dopant or Kamen Rider gaining a stronger form or weakening the user from the adverse side effects towards death (evident in the "closed k" case). As revealed in Fuuto PI, those with an unusually high compatibility rate will gain a portion of their memory's powers from continued usage, being able to use it in human form, while also awakening non-definition abilities in Dopant form. These awakened users are called High Dopes (ハイドープ, Hai Dōpu) with Wakana Sonozaki and Mutsuo Mihara as the prime examples.

By appearance, the Memories come in different colors which also associates their ranking. The golden ones are ranked the highest and thus used by group executives (such as Museum and Street), silver being ranked for officials (proven in the "closed k" case when Phillip mentions the Weather Dopant), and bronze being ranked for experimentation on people, or used for enforcers/grunts(Masquerade Dopants) to guard/serve higher authorities.

Rider Memory Usage[]

Kamen Riders such as Double and Accel utilize extremely refined Gaia Memories that have been completely purified of all negative side effects, which can only be used in specialized Memory Drivers like the Doubledriver/Lostdriver and the Acceldriver. Unlike the belts used by the Sonozaki Family, these Belts channel the Memories' powers and apply them on the human body externally rather than internally.

As such, full usage of the Memories' strength can only be accessed through a Maximum Drive, allowing it enough power to perform a Memory Break (メモリブレイク, Memori Bureiku) on a Dopant Memory. Stronger Memories require a direct strike on its location within the Dopant's body to execute a Memory Break. If the Dopant did not use the Memory via a Living Connector, a Memory Break will not occur, but the Gaia Memory will still be ejected from the user's body.

List of Gaia Memories[]

The Soul Memories (ソウルメモリ, Sōru Memori) are Gaia Memories that would be used in the right-hand side of the Doubledriver. They have silver tips.

  • Cyclone Memory (サイクロンメモリ, Saikuron Memori): Also known as the Windy Memory (風の記憶, Kaze no Kioku), allows the user to move at fast speeds and control the very power of wind, turning them into the Windy Warrior (風の戦士, Kaze no Senshi). When used, half of Kamen Rider Double becomes the green Cyclonic Right Half (旋風の右半身, Senpū no Migi Hanshin). Forms using the Cyclone Memory possess the Windy Stabilizer (ウィンディスタビライザー, Windi Sutabiraizā), a silver scarf hanging from the neck. Ryu was briefly lent the Cyclone Memory by Philip to battle the Weather Dopant. When inserted into the Engineblade, it allows Kamen Rider Accel to perform a wind-powered Maximum Drive.
    • Shippu Memory (疾風メモリ, Shippū Memorī): A version of the Cyclone Memory created and used within the Nightmare Dopant’s dream world.
  • Heat Memory (ヒートメモリ, Hīto Memori): Also known as the Hot Memory (熱き記憶, Atsuki Kioku), empowers the user with the element of fire, turning them into the Blazing Warrior (炎の戦士, Honō no Senshi). When used, half of Kamen Rider Double becomes the red Heated Right Half (熱き右半身, Atsuki Migi Hanshin).
  • Luna Memory (ルナメモリ, Runa Memori): Also known as the Illusion Memory (幻想の記憶, Gensō no Kioku), allows the user to cast illusions, stretch limbs, and bend gunshots, turning them into the Mysterious Warrior (神秘の戦士, Shinpi no Senshi). When used, half of Kamen Rider Double becomes the gold Fantastical Right Half (幻想の右半身, Gensō no Migi Hanshin).
  • Fang Memory (ファングメモリ, Fangu Memori): Also known as the Fanged Memory (牙の記憶, Kiba no Kioku), it is a special Gaia Memory used with the Joker Memory by Double to transform into FangJoker. It was created to protect Philip and act on his orders. It can change between its Live Mode (ライブモード, Raibu Mōdo), which resembles a Dromaeosaurid, and its Memory Mode (メモリモード, Memori Mōdo), the top of which resembles a dinosaur's head. When used, half of Kamen Rider Double becomes the white Fanged Right Half (牙の右半身, Kiba no Migi Hanshin) while altering the left half to match its spiked design. Unlike other forms of Double, this transformation is initiated by Phillip and the process causes Shotaro to fall unconscious and transfer his mind until transformation is undone.
  • Prism Memory (プリズムメモリ, Purizumu Memori): Powers the Prismbicker. It serves as a conduit for other Gaia Memory powers and can combine the powers of four Maximum Drives into one.
  • Bomb Memory (ボムメモリ, Bomu Memori): Used by with the Shroudmagnum by Shroud
  • Eternal Memory (エターナルメモリ, Etānaru Memori): Used by Kamen Rider Eternal to transform. A user with poor compatibility will only be able to access Eternal's Red Flare form, while a user with strong compatibility can access Blue Flare. It was abandoned by Daido in favor of the stronger T2 Eternal Memory.

The Body Memories (ボディメモリ, Bodi Memori) are Gaia Memories that would be used in the left-hand side of the Doubledriver. They have gold tips.

  • Joker Memory (ジョーカーメモリ, Jōkā Memori): Also known as the Ace Memory (切り札の記憶, Kirifuda no Kioku), synchronizes with the user's determination to increase their fighting potential and reflexes significantly, turning them into the Skill Warrior (技戦士, Waza Senshi). When used, half of Kamen Rider Double becomes the black Ace Left Half (切り札の左半身, Kirifuda no Hidari Hanshin). Following the loss of Philip, Shotaro uses his normal Joker Memory with a Lostdriver left by Philip to transform into Kamen Rider Joker. In Fuuto Tantei manga, Joker's strength is revealed to be depended on the user's emotion. When Shotaro becomes too angry during Puzzle Dopant's case, Shotaro refuses to become Double CJX because his emotion will interrupt the needed harmonization to balance the form. Should the Joker Memory be inserted into a Memory Gadget, the gadget will become violent and attacking everything on its sight.
    • Kirifuda Memory (切札メモリー, Kirifuda Memorī): A version of the Joker Memory created and used within the Nightmare Dopant’s dream world.
  • Metal Memory (メタルメモリ, Metaru Memori):Also known as the Steel Memory (鋼鉄の記憶, Kōtetsu no Kioku) or the Fighter Memory (闘士の記憶, Tōshi no Kioku), empowers the user with great strength and magnified resistance to physical harm, turning them into the Superpowered Warrior (怪力戦士, Kairiki Senshi). When used, half of Kamen Rider Double becomes the silver Fighting Left Half (闘士の左半身, Tōshi no Hidari Hanshin).
  • Trigger Memory (トリガーメモリ, Torigā Memori): Also known as the Sniper Memory (銃撃手の記憶, Jūgekishu no Kioku), turns the user into an expert marksman known as the Gun Warrior (銃戦士, Jū Senshi). When used, half of Kamen Rider Double becomes the blue Sniping Left Half (狙撃手の左半身, Sogekishu no Hidari Hanshin).
  • Skull Memory (スカルメモリ, Sukaru Memori): Also known as the Skeleton Memory (骸骨の記憶, Gaikotsu no Kioku), allows Kamen Rider Skull to transform. Per definition to its name, it strengthens the user's body with enhanced physical durability to that of a skeleton and provides invincibility from blood-shedding attacks, thus making the transformed user a living skeleton.
  • Accel (アクセルメモリ, Akuseru Memori): Also known as the Acceleration Memory (加速の記憶, Kasoku no Kioku), allows Kamen Rider Accel to transform into his default form.
  • Trial Memory (トライアルメモリ, Toraiaru Memori): Also known as the Challenge Memory (挑戦の記憶, Chōsen no Kioku), allows Kamen Rider Accel to transform into AccelTrial. It is used in its Memory Mode (メモリモード, Memori Mōdo) for transformation. The transformation is complete once the light on the Trans-Signal (トランスシグナル, Toransu Shigunaru) flashes red, then yellow twice, then finally blue, signifying a 3 second countdown. While in its Maximum Mode (マキシマムモード, Makishimamu Mōdo), it allows AccelTrial to perform his Maximum Drive. Once the Maximum Switch (マキシマムスイッチ, Makishimamu Suitchi) button is pressed, Accel has ten seconds to perform as many attacks as possible before pressing the Maximum Switch again to finish the Maximum Drive. If the Maximum Switch is not pressed within the time allotted, the Maximum Drive fails and Accel's transformation is forcibly cancelled.

  • Xtreme Memory (エクストリームメモリ, Ekustorīmu Memori): A special bird-like Gaia Memory used by Double to transform into CycloneJokerXtreme. It can change from Live Mode (ライブモード, Raibu Mōdo) to Memory Mode (メモリモード, Memori Mōdo) in order to slide onto the Doubledriver. The Xtreme Memory's powers come directly from the true Gaia Memory. When Philip dissolves after his final battle as Kamen Rider Double, the Xtreme Memory, which holds the data of his mind and body, does as well. However, after Wakana sacrifices her life, she brings back the Xtreme Memory, which held Philip's body until his physical form is restored.

Giji Memories (ギジメモリ, Giji Memori) are artificial Gaia Memories which power the Memory Gadgets, allowing them to switch between Gadget Mode and Live Mode.

  • Stag Memory (スタッグメモリ, Sutaggu Memori): Allows the Stag Phone to switch between Cell Phone Mode and Stag Mode.
  • Spider Memory (スパイダーメモリ, Supaidā Memori): Allows the Spider Shock to switch between Wrist Watch Mode and Spider Mode.
  • Bat Memory (バットメモリ, Batto Memori): Allows the Bat Shot to switch between Digicam Mode and Bat Mode.
  • Engine Memory (エンジンメモリ, Enjin Memori): Powers the Engineblade . It is not a true Gaia Memory, however, and its powers are linked to the Accel Memory. It empowers the Engineblade with several abilities, each based on a different type of engine: Steam (スチーム, Suchīmu), which creates a wave of hot steam; Jet (ジェット, Jetto), which allows the Engineblade to execute heated slashes or fire an energy projectile; and Electric (エレクトリック, Erekutorikku), which allows the Engineblade to perform electrically charged slashes or fire a bolt of electricity.
  • Beetle Memory (ビートルメモリ, Bītoru Memori): The Beetle Memory allows the Beetle Phone Memory Gadget to switch between its Cell Phone Mode and its Beetle Mode.
  • Frog Memory (フロッグメモリ, Furoggu Memori): Allows the Frog Pod to switch between Speaker Mode and Frog Mode.
  • Denden Memory (デンデンメモリ, Denden Memori): Allows the Denden Sensor to switch between Goggle Mode and Denden Mode.

T2 Gaia Memories

T2 Gaia Memories (from A to Z)

T2 Gaia Memories (T2ガイアメモリ, Tī Tsū Gaia Memori, short for "Type Two") are next generation Gaia Memories created by Foundation X using Shroud's research before she left the Museum and later stolen by NEVER. They were briefly featured in Episode 44 and used exclusively in Kamen Rider Double Forever: A to Z/The Gaia Memories of Fate.

There were 26 T2 Gaia Memories, one for each letter in the alphabet. Unlike other refined Gaia Memories, they have blue plugs instead of silver or gold ones. They are capable of transforming someone into a Dopant without a living connector and not cause the side effects associated with previous Memories. T2 Gaia Memories can also be used with a Lostdriver to transform someone into a Kamen Rider. T2 Gaia Memories also seem to have some level of sentience, as they were seen seeking out compatible users. T2 Memories are also implied to be stronger than their T1 counterparts. Unlike the previous Gaia Memories, T2 Gaia Memories could not be destroyed with a normal Maximum Drive, which only results in the Memory being ejected from the user.

All 26 T2 Gaia Memories were ultimately destroyed along with Kamen Rider Eternal by Kamen Rider Double CycloneJokerGoldXtreme's Golden Xtreme.

  • T2 Accel Memory (T2アクセルメモリ, Tī Tsū Akuseru Memori): This Memory was one of three T2 Gaia Memories recovered by Queen and Elizabeth for Shotaro before it could forcibly transform a Futo civilian into the Accel Dopant (アクセル・ドーパント, Akuseru Dōpanto).

  • Yoga Memory: Hypothesized to surpass Luna's flexibility, it is tested on Jinno by Makura, not so much turning him into the Yoga Dopant as making his arms much longer and harder to control, letting Makura eat Jinno's curry while he flails unable to stop him. [The Comedy of Y/The Man Searching for Curry]
  • UFO Memory: Jinno tries testing it on Makura, but Makura fights back and it ends up touching a ramen deliveryman, turning him not so much into the UFO Dopant as an actual small flying saucer spacecraft, which they send off to explore space for Museum. [The U is a Mystery!/Roundelay]

Wizard[]

The Gaia Memories, along with the other Rider Powers, were stolen from Double by Amadum in the world within the Magic Stone, who explained that they were already his due to the Riders' powers being from the same source as evil. However, the power was soon returned thanks to the appearance of Kamen Rider Gaim, with the return of the Memories immediately transforming Double into CycloneJokerXtreme.[Neverending Story]

Portrayal[]

The voice of the Gaia Memories is provided by Fumihiko Tachiki (立木 文彦, Tachiki Fumihiko), who is also the narrator of W.
