Gaelijah (ガエリヤ, Gaeriya) was one of the overarching antagonists of Kamen Rider Gotchard. She was a user of astrology and one of the Dark Kings who was sealed behind the Door of Darkness until resurfacing after the first defeat of Gigist.
History[]
Background[]
- Main article: Dark Kings
In the early days of alchemy, three alchemists who were originally human, abandoned their humanity using the power of Philosopher's Stone and became an entity known as Dark King. Three of them were Germain, who specialised in alchemy, Gaelijah, who specialised in astrology, and Gigist, who created the first Chemies known as Gaiard and Dragonalos and specialised in theurgy. Later on, Dark King created and enslaved Glion.
120 years ago, Dark King were sealed behind Door of Darkness by Alchemist of the Daybreak, and remaining Glion joined Alchemys Union to continue his research.
Gaelijah once stated that she had discarded her humanity in order to obtain the power of divination, directly implying that she used to be human in the past. [Say Goodbye at Twilight]
Revival[]
Shortly after the first defeat of Gigist by Rainbow Gotchard, Gaelijah alongside Germain escaped from the Door of Darkness and approach their fellow Dark King. At this time, she did not ridicule him while the latter was regenerating, but rather coldly scolded him for trying to outwit them.
When Atropos pleaded for Glion's revival, Germain revealed the truth that Glion was merely a doll they had made for fun, without any emotion for the shocked Atropos and Clotho. Gaelijah used her power to discover Fuga Kudo's laboratory, attacking it with other Dark Kings.
After that, she began fighting with Houtaro Ichinose, who had rushed to the laboratory to save Fuga, and cornered him alongside Germain and Gigist, they quickly retreated after defeating Houtaro and his allies. Germain tries to act on his own, asking for her opinion, but Gaelijah decided to watch from the sidelines, saying that "my stars are not moving."
Later, by using her astrology ability, she told Germain, "Today you will obtain the fragment," but the latter was soon defeated in the battle against the Kamen Riders, and the latter was used by Atropos to become the vessel for Glion's resurrection. Gaelijah and Gigist then held a brief private meeting to discuss Germain's defeat, until Glion interrupts them and announces that he had replaced Germain's position. Although Gaelijah feels unhappy that the doll became an equal to them, she did not interrupt Glion's next plan of attacking Kongo Laboratory.
Gaelijah's Evil Plan[]
While Gaelijah was contemplating the reason for Gigist and Germain's failure was due to their over-obsession with Houtaro, Glion come out and asked her if there was any difference between her and the both of them, prompting Gaelijah deciding to start her own plan. She would interrupt the battle between Clotho Rebis and Majade, saying she's interested in Rinne and teleports Clotho away. She took Clotho as her subordinate, by nulify the power given by Gigist and Germain reverted Clotho into her original form. Gaelijgh then requesting Clotho to breakout some former enemies that Houtaro has fought before, transforming Mamoru Kariya and Kyoichi Yabuki into Malgams.
As the previous two Malgam's were created, her next target would be Hijiri Himeno. After Hijiri got kidnapped to her hideout, Gaelijah unsealed memories of Hijiri's brother Tsurugi Himeno and the Battery Malgam, including the memories of maliciously trying to kill each other. Gaelijah then transmutes Hijiri's strong hatred into the Battery Malgam (Chemy Factor). Although Hijiri got saved by the Kamen Riders, Gaelijah also successfully extracted Hijiri's malice and Chemy factors before materializing them and spreading them to the world, making ordinary people to recognize the existence of alchemy and the Kamen Rider, which caused considerable trouble to the Alchemist Academy.
The next day, she brings back Golem Gouriki and other few gangsters in front of Houtaro. During the battle, she steals the Venomdake Chemy Card to create the Poisonous Mushroom Malgam (Dark) which weakens Rainbow Gotchard in the process. She implanst a magic circle on Majade's left hand, before mocking Houtaro with "There will be precious lives lost due to the Chemies". After Supana Kurogane decides to scrap all the Chemies, she's excited to announce that everything is according to the stars' whispers.
Failure of her Plan and Death[]
When Gotchard and Valvarad clashed with each other, she ordered Clotho to bring back Atropos to her hideout, restraining her and implanting the same magic circle as she did to Majade. When Clotho asked the purpose Gaelijah knocked her out mercilessly. She then explained to Atropos that her human prototype was Rinne, the real purpose for connecting them is to create the artificial lifeform Chimera.
After teleporting Rinne in front of her, Glion went to Fuga Kudo for help in saving their daughters. Gaelijah, who predicted the two fathers would come to save their daughters, sealed the two daughters into Ride Chemy Cards and set a trap to teleport Glion and Fuga to a special space she created, forcing them to participate in a Russian roulette-style duel. Unexpectedly, the whole process was interrupted by Gotchard, and everyone was driven out of her space.
Glion then reveals that he secretly tampered with Gaelijah's magic circle, replacing the entire process of creating Chimera with his own powers. Enraged, Gaelijah decides to kill Rinne to disrupt the process, keeping her promise to Majade, Atropos blocks the fatal blow for Rinne causing her to die. Rinne then becomes angry and fused with Atropos to become Twilight Majade and defeats Gaelijah. Gaelijah cannot understand why she cannot predict Twilight Majade's movements, nor why Rinne resists her fate instead of accepting it.
Legacy[]
After Gaelijah's death, Glion and Gigist received her fragments of Philosopher's Stone, causing the both of them to become stronger. It would also lead to the birth of Kamen Rider Eld.
She and the remaining Dark Kings were created into mindless Homunculus by Kamen Rider Eld in the final battle, to prevent Houtaro and his allies from stopping Glion's ultimate goal. However, these Homunculus were still no match for Kamen Rider's power and were defeated.
Personality[]
Gaelijah has a cruel and ruthless personality, and a polite feminine voice that gives off somewhat of a impersonal quality. She always simply tells the facts. Unlike other Dark Kings, Gaelijah has shown no interest in obtaining Nijigon in order to surpass other fellow members, she only concerns about her astrology powers. She is also very confident in her astrological abilities, and she often speaks words related to the stars, using this ability to successfully predict future events, giving her an advantage during fighting with her enemies. She is not shy about using this to despise her enemies.
However, Gaelijah is no different from other Dark Kings in some thoughts. As seen she disrepects all humanity, she called Fuga Kudo a "fly", even if the latter is the most powerful alchemist. She also dislikes homunculus like Glion, even though Glion have same power as a Dark King. She think that Glion is too complacent as a alchemy doll, his ambition to create a golden city is also very stupid, and that's not the correct way see the correct world.
Gaelijah also believes that the correct evolution for all humans is for them to become Malgam, and she directly uses her abilities to extract the Chemy Factor and pure malice and spread it among ordinary humans, resulting in the exposure of Alchemy and Kamen Rider. Furthermore, she enjoys coming up with devious schemes to mess with people's minds, such as digging up horrible memories that were once erased by alchemy and tormenting the minds of his targets, or taking pleasure in watching people who have remembered Chemy's memories being manipulated by their malice.
In order to win over her subordinates, Gaelijah will show a considerate and gentle attitude to the homunculus who are inferior to her. However, when she does not need them, Gaelijah will knock them out and scold them for not knowing how to speak in the right place. As for humans or homunculus who have lost their usefulness, Gaelijah chooses to kill them mercilessly and taunts at their fate, such mocking Atropos after the latter blocked a fatal attack for Rinne.
Like other Dark Kings, when her abilities do not work against her enemies, or when her plans ultimately fail, she'll be unable to comprehend her enemy's action and thoughts, questioning them why they don't obey the fate revealed by the stars and give up thinking, believing that abandoning the mind is the only correct evolution.

- Astrology Alchemy (占星錬金術, Sensei Renkinjutsu): Gaelijah has her own established system of techniques using alchemy and astrology, and entrusts all phenomena to the movements of the stars.
- Magic Circle Creation: Gaelijah is able to summon a purple magic circle.
- Superhuman Perception: Gaelijah can sense the presence of their enemies through the magic circle, the image of their enemy will appear on the center of the magic circle.
- Divination: Gaelijah can make predictions of future events through the magic circle, but the results are vague. In one instance, Gaelijah could predict that the fragment of Philosopher's Stone would return to Germain's body, but it ultimately turned out the fact is Glion obtained the power after him taking over Germain's body. This ability also allows her to avoid enemy's incoming attack.
- Power Nulification: Due to her power of Dark King, Gaelijah is able to nullify the power of Germain and Gigist, as shown she restored Clotho Rebis back to her original state. Constellation patterns will be displayed during the process.
- Memory Projection: Through the magic circle, Gaelijah can project fragments of human memories, even if the memory has been tampered with by alchemy.
- Chimera Creation: Gaelijah can implant a small magic circle in the left hand of the Doll and their human model to facilitate the connection between their bodies. The process will drain all the power of the human prototype to the Doll's body, causing the latter to become a completely artificial life form Chimera (キマイラ, Kimaira), while the former will first feel pain and then die when the process is complete. The process can be stopped if one of the connected opponents are dead.
- Repli Chemy Card Sealing: Through a magic circle, Gaelijah can teleport and sealing her enemies into Repli Chemy Card-like item.
- Fixation: Gaelijah can control her opponent's body, after teleport them into her trap, by freezing them above her magic circle.
- Explosion Generation: Gaelijah is able to shooot out a magic circle from her hands, powerful enough to cancel Kamen Rider's transformation with one blow, and causing small explosion upon touches enemy.
- Pink Beam Generation: After manifested a giant magic circle, Gaelijah can deliver a pink colored beam from the magic circle, powerful enough to kill a alchemy doll.
- Magic Circle Creation: Gaelijah is able to summon a purple magic circle.
- Teleportation: Gaelijah can teleport himself in anywhere she want, or teleport her opponent, includes multiple targets at once.
- Energy Sword Creation: Gaelijah can create several red energy swords from thin air to strike their opponents.
- Energy Shield Generation: Gaelijah can generate energy shields in order to block enemy flying projectile attacks and destroy them immediately.
- Energy Beam Generation: Gaelijah, alongside other Dark Kings, are able to deliver a black and red energy beam to attack enemies from their palm.
- Projectile: Gaelijah can create a pink energy meteor projectile from thin air to strike their opponents.
- Malgam Creation: Gaelijah can use the sphere on her chest to forcibly transmute a human into a Malgam by simulating their Malgam Factor.
- Restraining: Gaelijah is able to create mutiple red cloth to restrain her targets in the air.
- Transmutation: Gaelijah can transmute Alchemist Ring into a pistol and a bullet.
Weaknesses[]
- Other Dark Kings: Each Dark King has 33% of the Philosopher's Stone fragment, so each member's power can cancel each other out. This makes Gaelijah unable to quickly absorb the fragments in other Dark Kings' body to complete himself, she can only wait for Kamen Rider to defeat the other members, vice versa. Although Gaelijah have no interested in become stronger like her fellow members.
- Kamen Rider Rainbow Gotchard: Since Houtaro's body was fused with Nijigon's egg when he first time wearing Gotchariver, he contains 1% of the Philosopher's Stone fragments in his body. After transforming into Rainbow Gotchard, Houtaro can use Nijigon to have the power as same level a single Dark King and easily defeat them. However, Gaelijah chose to weaken Rainbow Gotchard by predicting the opponent's actions, removing a Ride Chemy Card from his position, and chose not to engage in direct combat with the opponent from beginning to end.
- Kamen Rider Twilight Majade: Since Atropos had successfully defy the fate Gaelijah had set to her, her action cannot be predicted by Gaelijah anymore, allowing Rinne to ultimately defeat Gaelijah

- Gigist: Gaelijah's fellow member, on the surface, they share the same hatred for the enemy, but Gaelijah looks down on other Dark Kings inside her mind. She is shown taunting Gigist when the latter still has not fully recovered from the injuries he sustained. Gigist then watched her actions from behind, until taking away her remaining fragments of the Philosopher's Stone.
- Germain: Gaelijah's fellow member, on the surface, they share the same hatred for the enemy, but Gaelijah looks down on other Dark Kings inside her mind. At first, Gaelijah did not openly oppose Germain's plan, but only told him that according to the prophecy, he would get a fragment of the Philosopher's Stone. It is unclear whether this was a lie or not.
- Glion: Gaelijah's fellow member, after Germain's defeat, Glion replaced his position. Gaelijah, like the other Dark Kings was uncomfortable with a homunculus being on equal footing with them, but did not bother Glion's action too much. Later, during the creation of the Chimera, Gaelijah drags both Glion and Fuga into a trap she created, trying to have one of them kill the other. After Glion later revealed that he had secretly tampered with her magic circle, Gaelijah decided to kill Rinne to stop the creation of the Chimera and make Glion's plan fail, until she gets defeated by Twilight Majade. Her fragments of the Philosopher's Stone would be taken by Glion.
Three Dark Sisters[]
- Atropos: After realizig that Atropos's human model was Rinne, Gaelijah decides to use her to turn into a Chimera, making her take an interest in Atropos. After Glion tampered with the magic circle, Gaelijah tries to kill Rinne to stop the whole process, until Atropos came to block the fatal attack. Gaelijah, who thought that Atropos had lost her value, immediately mocked Atropos, thinking that it was a comedy for Atropos to block a fatal blow for a mere human, showing that she didn't care about Atropos's death.
- Clotho: Gaelijah tried to get Clotho to join her. Not only did she help Clotho nullify of her Clotho Rebis state and relieve her pain, she also promised to fulfill her wish. However, later turns out Gaelijah just treats her as a subordinate, disrespecting Clotho after she loses her worth that can be used.

- Houtaro Ichinose/Kamen Rider Gotchard: Gaelijah doesn't seems have interested in Houtaro, She mentions that the reason why Gigist and Germain was defeated because of them was too obsessed with Houtaro, who possessed a fragment of the Philosopher's Stone. When using the Chemies to implement her plan, Gaelijah taunted Houtaro that precious lifes in the future would die because of the Chemies. When Houtaro interrupted her plan of creating Chimera, she became angry towards him.
- Rinne Kudo/Kamen Rider Majade: Gaelijah has a strong interest in Rinne from the first time they met. Later turns out she wants to use her connection with Atropos to create a Chimera. After Atropos' death, Rinne expresses that Gaelijah is unforgivable before defeateing her, Gaelijah showed an attitude of extreme incomprehension in opposite way.
- Supana Kurogane/(Kamen Rider) Valvarad: Gaelijah predicted the future events of Supana would scrap all the Chemies and have a big conflict with Houtaro, making her excitedly announce the fact that everything was according to the whisper by the stars.
