Encounter III: Conditions for Victory (邂逅Ⅲ:勝利条件, Kaikō Surī: Shōri Jōken) is the fourth episode of Kamen Rider Geats. It marks the conclusion of the Zombie Survival Game, as well as Kanato Sumida's elimination from the Desire Grand Prix.

Synopsis[]

Neon has been infected with a zombie bite, which terrifies her as it could lead to her death. Prelude to the third round, Neon returns home in disappointment and discovers that her mother has deleted her videos to irreparability.

Keiwa tries to cheer her up, but Ace on the other hand pushes her away as she is nothing but a rival who will invetiably disappear anyway. Ace's words do not make Neon happy, who is now suffering from changes on her body.

As the third round begins, Ace, Keiwa, Michinaga, and Morio all transform into battle and confront the Zombie Jyamato... but there was an accident?!

Plot[]

Keiwa makes another entry in his video diary recapping the events of the Zombie Hunter game and telling his sister in the recording if she finds the diary, he admits he is scared of what might happen to him.

Keiwa hides and watches Neon call her mother on her cellphone, Irumi is panicking because she left her and demands Neon return home immediately. Neon claims she is at a friend's house and will be home soon. She tries to walk but collapses, Keiwa tries to help her but Neon is then is taken against her will by Morio to a basement level of the DGP and tied up along with Kanato to be executed by Michinaga. Ace objects to this course of action but is ignored as Michinaga transforms. Keiwa blocks Michinaga, getting points deducted for attacking Michinaga. Ace reasons that both players are not full zombies yet so they would be worthless in point value if they are killed now.

Michinaga withdraws and leaves, claiming to Keiwa it was a "joke". Neon is depressed because she is going to die and become a zombie. She doesn't want to be a bother or harm anyone as one, so she begs to be destroyed if that happens. Ironically, she always wanted to leave home but now that she is wanting the opposite upon facing her own mortality and begins to cry. Keiwa tries to convince her she is strong, to never give up and that everything will work out. Neon appreciates Keiwa's efforts to cheer her up, but asks him to leave her alone. Ace just stands silently, unsure what to do.

In the lounge. Keiwa is upset and asks why they all should risk their lives and suffer. Michinaga says it is the only way to achieve their dreams, with Keiwa rebuking that should not mean recklessly throwing away their lives. Morio says it is indeed worth the risk to get what they want, like large sums of money or other things. Ace says nothing in this world can be achieved without hard work, they keep the world safe and no matter how bad it gets, the world always gets another chance in the end. Even if some don't make it, the players that survive must continue for the sake of the whole world, something Keiwa won't accept as the truth.

Girori informs everyone that the third wave will be some time later and everyone can head back home to rest until then. Neon staggers out the door while a concerned Keiwa and Ace look on, she sits at a fountain and discovers all her livestream videos have been deleted. Ben and John find Neon using the tracking device that her mother planted on her belongings.

Upon returning home, Neon confronts Irumi about this violation of privacy, only to be violently slapped by her mother and scolded for making her and her father worry as Irumi does not want her daughter to be "gone again".

As Neon cries, she remembers a traumatic event where a man kidnapped her for a ransom of ¥300,000,000 when she was a child, this drove Irumi to become toxically overprotective of her daughter and continue treating her like a child despite being a young woman now. Irumi is irritated that Neon goes to places where she cannot be tracked and demands that she stop her "childish games" and remain in the mansion. Neon angrily says she is not her mother's doll and storms off, only for Irumi to use emotional manipulation to try and sway her daughter to stay in the house. Irumi claims she can get Neon anything she wants if she obeys her, all she needs to do is ask.

Later that evening, Neon jumps the fence with her belongings and prepares to run away again, only to collapse and see Keiwa and Ace alongside her fence. The two help and then try to talk to her, giving Neon a bottle of water. Neon says that fulfilling a dream is the one thing money can't purchase and she thanks the DGP for giving her the opportunity to try to get that feeling. She still thinks she is doomed and feels she deserves it for being a burden to everyone. Keiwa tries again to cheer Neon up but she doesn't want kind words as they will not change anything. She wishes the boys luck as they stand silently.

As the third wave begins, some of the players are anticipating Neon being a zombie by now to score big points. Michinaga is equipped with the Magnum Buckle to Ace's surprise and Morio is intentionally placing civilians in harm's way to rig his score by saving them. This backfires when Kanato bites Morio, revealing he has made an alliance with Michinaga to take all the opposition down with him. Neon appears and shows newfound determination to fight to the very end and live how she wants to, equipping Armed Hammer and taking out several Zombie Jyamato.

Kanato believes she is doomed regardless but Ace says that there may be a way to cure the infection. Revealing back last night, Ace explains while not much is known about the Jyamato, it is known that each game's effects of damage are undone when the game is cleared, so winning or surviving the last wave should cure Neon if they clear it before she fully turns into a zombie. Keiwa also gave her the Boost Buckle to help her with the coming battle. Neon equips the Buckle to become Boost Armed Hammer and makes quick work of the Zombies, but grows weaker when the infection starts to take hold, meaning the infected are running out of time. Ace helps Neon by holding down the Zombie Jyamato with his Zombie Strike finisher. Neon revolves her form and using an enhanced rocket hammer, she decimates the third wave with her Grand Victory finisher, clearing the game and ending her infection as well as Kanato's. Neon thanks Keiwa and Ace for giving her the courage to believe in herself and never give up. Keiwa is just glad everyone is safe, but Ace says that isn't the case, with Michinaga revealing the player with the lowest score is eliminated.

Tsumuri shows the scoreboard, with Ace the winner and Kanato being eliminated. The angry teen spent so much time being petty and attacking everyone that any points he received were reduced to push him into last place by racking up penalties. Kanato says he looks forward to the next loser who joins him, laughing insanely as he is "retired" and disappears. Tsumuri explains that retired players are no longer qualified to be Kamen Riders, much to Keiwa's confusion.

Neon returns home and when her mother tries to hit her again as punishment for leaving the house, Neon grabs Irumi's arm to stop her and tells her that one way or another, she will leave her and this house. This leaves Irumi stunned as Neon walks past her and up the stairs.

Meanwhile, the Game Master reviews battle footages from various DGP games, before pausing them to observe Buffa and Geats, stating the final battle is near...

Errors[]

  • When the GPS system tracking Neon Kurama is shown on the screen of John's computer, a media player overlay is visible, revealing that the screen is actually a video file.
  • When Tycoon swings Na-Go to another building, he is shown to be on top of the building at a high area. However, as Na-Go lands onto the ground, Tycoon is also on the ground fighting another Zombie Jyamato. Given it would have taken mere seconds for Na-Go to fly and land from the building to the ground, it is unknown how Tycoon managed to get onto the ground in the aforementioned time limit.
  • In the previous episode, Da·Paan's score in his HUD shows him to have 56600, which is the same exact score at the end of this episode. However, Da·Paan had bitten Mary in this episode, resulting in a penalty. Despite this, the difference between the two scores remain the same, even though Da·Paan should have at least 2000 fewer points.

Game Master in EP4

The Game Master's new mask

  • The mask worn by the Game Master during the broadcast version of episode 1 was a recolored replica of Karl Ruprect Kroenen's mask from the 2004 film Hellboy. To avoid any copyright conflicts in the future, this episode features the Game Master wearing a new and original mask.
  • While the Game Master is watching clips of Geats and Buffa fighting, Geats Armed Arrow and Buffa Armed Shield are shown. Presumably, these clips are from the previous Desire Grand Prix, as Geats and Buffa were not shown to have these Raise Buckles in their possession during the ongoing competition.
  • This is the first episode to feature a Rider transforming outside of a Jyamar Area.
  • Coincidentally, this episode was premiered on the same day when the finale of Kamen Rider Ghost was aired.
