Encounter F: Wake up! Monster (邂逅F:Wake up !モンスター, Kaikō Efu: Weiku Appu! Monsutā) is the ninth episode of Kamen Rider Geats. It marks the end of the Encounter Arc and Kicking Can Game, as well as the identity reveals of Kamen Rider PunkJack and the Game Master.
Synopsis[]
Although the can was kicked outside the Jyamar Area, it had expanded once again. Thus, the can returns inside and the giant Jyamato swallows it once again.
In this abnormal situation. Ace, Neon, and Michinaga are given an emergency mission to "raise eggs." If it hatches, it may drop an item for capturing the final boss. Ace, who aims to become the Deza Shin once again, raises his egg while fighting the Jyamato but...
Plot[]
Neon recaps the previous episode and then asks why she isn’t the Desire God as she kicked the can out of the Area. Tsumuri says what happened is unprecedented as the Saboten Knight Jyamato was supposed to wither and die upon losing its can. An alarm goes off as the monitors reveal the Jyamar Area is expanding at an accelerated rate. Saboten uses the expanded area to retrieve his giant can, swallowing it whole to prevent it from being taken away again.
Ace explains that Jyamato constantly evolve, so they simply need to adapt and plan accordingly. A distorted voice says he is correct, as the masked man, whom Tsumuri refers to as the Game Master, arrives and Ace assumes that means things have gotten really bad for “the boss” to show himself. The Game Master assigns an “emergency mission” to the three Kamen Riders: destroy Saboten’s can by “raising” new items from the three eggs he has brought. If done properly, it will provide an item that will help defeat Saboten and win the game.
Neon is confused, but Michinaga is not interested and yells at the Game Master for making them do something this stupid during the last round. Ace picks up his egg and says no matter the game, the prize of winning this time is the title of Desire God.
In the city, a couple is crushed to death by the giant foot of Saboten as the Pawn Jyamato attack, their baby is killed by a Pawn as the Riders appear to defend the city while raising their eggs. The eggs are placed in pouches when they transform and Neon finds that inconvenient to her mobility. She then worries about keeping her egg warm and a Pawn gets its head stuck underneath her arm and through the pouch, resulting in a comical and awkward moment where he is up against her breasts (and seemingly enjoying it). Neon gets upset and accidentally flings her pouch off upon thrashing the Pawn, losing her egg with another Pawn grabbing and poking it.
Michinaga decides to neglect his egg, removing it from his pouch and leaving it behind to fight unencumbered.
Ace takes a more paternal approach, protecting and talking to his egg, encouraging it to hatch but to no avail. He then uses a Ninja Strike to get atop Saboten and reveal the location of where the can is in its body and destroys the Pawns. This nets him a reward as he clears the secret mission to find the location of the can first, gaining the Boost Buckle. Saboten has teleported away again, much to the dismay of Neon.
Back at the lounge, all three wait patiently for their eggs to hatch, with an impatient Michinaga wondering if they are even working. Neon’s egg hatches first, gaining the Propeller Buckle, which will give her the ability to fly. Michinaga gets frustrated and begins banging his egg to just hatch already despite Girori suggesting that he should be gentle with it. The egg does hatch, giving Michinaga the Drill Buckle, with Girori picking up the egg shells and leaving the room. Michinaga is doubtful of how useful his item is, but Ace believes paired with Zombie it will serve his rival well.
Michinaga goes into his usual routine of trying to put Ace down, pointing out that his egg hasn’t hatched. Ace says that his egg is just a “late bloomer” and a good amount of sleeping is healthy for the development of a child.
He warns the two that they should turn back now, if they die, they cannot come back. It is better if they hide in the lounge and forget their tragedies and then go back to their normal lives like Keiwa. This angers Michinaga, who grabs Ace by his collar and screams he will win and finally beat him. Ace simply says that courage and recklessness are two separate things, but Michinaga still believes he will win. Neon says she won’t back down either, she has gotten this far and refuses to give up and go back to her old life, as it would be a waste of all she has accomplished. Michinaga says regardless of what happens, the game will end.
Neon streams a late night announcement that she is ending Neon TV, she doesn’t tell her fans the truth, but she does say she is fighting for her dreams and putting her life on the line to achieve that.
While walking in the city, Michinaga sees Tohru’s spirit, who is surprised he entered the DGP. He tries to tell his friend not to force himself, that he can move on from the pain of losing him by forgetting about him. Michinaga says he can’t do that and he will win, Tohru says that in that case he will look forward to seeing his ideal world. Michinaga thinks about his wish to crush all Riders and says that he will fulfill Tohru’s revenge.
Ace is training with some boxing exercises as the dawn comes and then he stops to rest, looking at his coin again and vowing that he will find his mother no matter what happens. He picks up his egg, wondering if it will ever hatch as time is running out.
Neon and Michinaga arrive where Saboten has appeared, but Ace is oddly absent, Michinaga doesn’t care as it will grant him victory if Ace is late. Both transform and use their new buckles to eliminate the Pawns, but they rush in to try to tear open Saboten’s chest to destroy the can with their finishers and get smacked away by him. Ace arrives and watches the fight and begins to worry about his egg not hatching. Neon lands hard on the ground and is buried in rubble while Michinaga has a broken leg and cannot stand up.
The Pawn Jyamato approach and are about to kill them when Ace shows up in Boost Form to save them and orders the two to withdraw because of their injuries.
Michinaga stubbornly refuses and forces himself to get up, revolving DrillZombie into ZombieDrill and using his blade as a cane to stand. He doesn’t care about dying as he will fight with pride to the end. Saboten blasts energy needles and Ace uses Boost to dodge but Michinaga takes a direct hit. He stands up and raises his blade, saying he doesn’t care if he’s reckless or brave, he will never give up and that is all that matters.
Ace learns something from those words and shields Michinaga using his egg, this causes the egg to hatch into the Monster Raise Buckle and Ace becomes Monster form. He executes the Monster Strike Rider Punch, a giant energy fist that crushes Saboten’s can and sends the kaiju sized creature flying, causing an explosion in the air. With that, Ace once again becomes the Desire God of the DGP.
Punkjack is observing unseen, detransforming into a mysterious punk rocker who says that the next DGP season should be fun as he walks off.
Monster closes its eyes and goes back to sleep as Ace deactivates his transformation, while an angry Michinaga wonders why Ace saved him. Ace says that he was a good teacher today, showing the value of tenacity and never backing down in the face of adversity. Michinaga gets up and wants to strangle Ace, but the latter says as long as he doesn’t give up, he will win eventually and Ace will accept any challenge Michinaga throws at him. Michinaga smiles and says that Ace is an annoying person until the very end as he fades away. Neon is disappointed, as she wanted to win, but Ace tells her to remember her ideals and hold onto them and someday she will get her wish. She agrees as she fades away, leaving Ace alone and victorious.
Tsumuri is bothered after reading Ace’s wish, which the Game Master does not understand as he saved the world and earned his wish, that is the rule of the DGP. She still seems unhappy and even embarrassed about it but reluctantly accepts the decision. The bells chime and the world is reset, with everything restored. The couple who died in the previous world are happily walking along with their baby in the stroller, with the father excited that his child is laughing. Ace stands atop a building flipping his coin and observing his new world, stopping to look at the coin for a second.
In the darkened lounge, the Game Master sits down, taking off his mask to reveal that he is actually Girori, who wonders what lies beyond the world Ace created.
