The Wings of Darkness Darkwing (闇の翼 ダークウイング, Yami no Tsubasa Dāku Uingu) is the Contract Monster of Kamen Rider Knight.

History[]

Kamen Rider Ryuki[]

DarkwingPainting

Darkwing drawn by the Kanzaki siblings.

Darkwing, along with every other Mirror Monster was created by Yui's and Shiro's pictures during their childhood.

It is shown that Darkwing was initially used in one of Shiro's initial experiments and is assumed to be the Mirror Monster responsible for Eri going into a coma. Multiple times throughout the series, Darkwing acted as though it was targeting Eri. Each time Ren shooed it away. Most of the time, however, it was simply there to assist Ren in battle. Followed by Knight's transformation into Survive Mode, Darkwing transformed into Darkraider.

It is unknown what happened to Darkwing but considering that the Mirror World was erased after the final Time Vent, it can be assumed that the same was done to it as well.

It is notable for being one of the Contract Monsters that can be summoned without using an Advent, just like Dragreder.

Kamen Rider Decade[]

In the World of Ryuki, Darkwing assists Knight as Contract Monster in the Kamen Rider Trial. His only appearance was when Knight was performing his Final Vent attacks. [Battle Trial: Ryuki World]

Kamen Rider Zi-O[]

Darkwing was among one of many Mirror Monsters brought over to Sougo Tokiwa's world as the Rider Worlds began to merge. [2019: Vanishing Watches]

Darkwing appears as Knight's Contract Monster summoned by Advent Card with its AP value is 4000. It resembles a mechanical vampire bat. It is shown that Darkwing was initially used in one of Shiro's initial experiments and is assumed to be the Mirror Monster responsible for Eri going into a coma. Multiple times throughout the series, Darkwing acted as though it was targeting Eri. Each time Ren shooed it away by punching the mirror its in. Despite this however, for most of the time, it was there simply to assist Ren in battle.

Whenever Darkwing was summoned, it will support Knight for aerial combat by grabbing into his back as it acted as the Rider's wing and brings Kamen Rider Knight's Winglancer to him when a Sword Vent Card is activated. From its mouth, the Dark Bill (ダークビル, Dāku Biru), Darkwing can unleash a painful ultrasonic screech whenever the Nasty Vent Card scanned.

Darkwing consists of the following parts[1]:

  • Bat Eye (バットアイ, Batto Ai): The eyes. They can detect and record the characteristics of monsters and feed them back to Kamen Rider Knight via the Darkvisor. They can function as night-vision camera to see in the dark, and the field of view is sent to Knight as it is seen by Darkwing.
  • Dark Ear (ダークイヤー, Dāku Iyā): The ears. They are ultrasonic sonars that applies ultrasonic waves to detect the presence of an object located in a 50 km square. Darkwing can even hear a needle drop, but they are vulnerable to loud sounds.
  • Dark Bill (ダークビル, Dāku Biru): The mouth. They can perform the Sonicbreaker attack, where Darkwing emits an ultrasonic screech and temporarily disorients the enemy.
  • Great Wing (グレートウイング, Gurēto Uingu): The wings. They allow Darkwing to fly at 900km/h, and can be used to cut through steel. They transform into the Wingwall, a cape that functions as a shield that is attached onto Kamen Rider Knight's back.
    • Dark Edge (ダークエッジ, Dāku Ejji): Claws attached onto the Great Wing. They can generate strong electromagnetic waves to capture prey and cut through enemies as an electromagnetic scalpel. They also allow Darkwing to climb onto walls.
  • Dark Claw (ダーククロウ, Dāku Kurou): The claws on the feet. The sharp toes generate strong electromagnetic waves, which instantly paralyzes the movement of prey. When the output of electromagnetic waves is maximized, it becomes an electromagnetic scalpel called "Dark Shock (ダークショック, Dāku Shokku)".
  • Dark Tail (ダークテイル, Dāku Teiru): The tail. It becomes the Winglancer.
Roles in Advent Cards attacks
  • Sword Vent: Darkwing's tail becomes the Winglancer (ウイングランサー, Uingu Ransā).
  • Guard Vent: Darkwing attaches to Knight's back and becomes the Wingwall (ウイングウォール, Uingu Uōru) cape-like shield.
  • Nasty Vent: Darkwing performed the Sonicbreaker (ソニックブレイカー, Sonikku Burekā), an attack involved by unleashing a painful ultrasonic screech.
  • Final Vent: Knight and Darkwing perform Hishozan (飛翔斬, Hishōzan). Darkwing lands on its master's back to form a cape as he leaps into the air, wrapping himself with the cloak as they descend in the form of a drill using Winglancer as the tip to impale the opponent.

Statistics

  • Weight: 100 kg
  • Length: 130 cm
  • Wingspan: 390 cm

With Ren's gain of a Survive Card, it allowed Knight access to Survive Form and hence, allowed Darkwing to evolve into Wings of Gales Darkraider (疾風の翼 ダークレイダー, Shippū no Tsubasa Dākureidā), which is a much more powerful bat, with its AP upgraded to 6000. This equipped Darkraider with wind turbines under his wings that could blow other Riders away.

Roles in Advent Cards attacks
  • Blust Vent: Darkraider executes Dark Tornado (ダークトルネード, Dāku Torunēdo). Darkraider launches two tornadoes from a turbine each from its wings to blow away an opponent.

Bike Mode

After Knight Survive used the Final Vent Card, Darkraider transforms into transform into Bike Mode (バイクモード, Baiku Mōdo), with Knight Survive riding it. In this form, Darkraider is a Honda Shadow bike with bat motif designs.

Roles in Advent Cards attacks
  • Final Vent: Performs Shippudan (疾風断, Shippūdan). As Darkraider assumes its motorcycle form, Knight Survive rides Darkraider as it paralyzes the monster with a laser attack and then turns into a missile to run through their opponent.

Armaments[]

Through the use of certain Advent Cards, parts of Darkwing's body can be used by Knight as weapons or other equipment.

  • Winglancer (ウイングランサー, Uingu Ransā): A lance derived from Darkwing's tail
  • The remainder of Darkwing's body can be mounted on Knight's back, where its wings become a cape. This can be done by using either Knight's Guard Vent card or his Final Vent card (However, Ren is often seen transforming into Knight with the cape already equipped). When using the Guard Vent card, the wings are in their original form and close around Knight to form the Wingwall (ウイングウォール, Uingu Uōru) in order to protect him from attacks. When using the Final Vent card, the wings are in their cape form for use in Knight's Flyinglancer Rider Kick.
