Daiji Igarashi (五十嵐 大二, Igarashi Daiji) is a Squad Leader of Fenix and the second son of the Igarashi family. Due to his secret resentment towards his older brother Ikki Igarashi, it gave birth to his inner demon Kagero who was exploited by George Karizaki to become Kamen Rider Evil (仮面ライダーエビル, Kamen Raidā Ebiru).

History

Daiji Igarashi is the middle child of Genta and Yukimi Igarashi, and also the younger brother to Ikki and older brother to Sakura. At a young age, Daiji rose through the ranks at Fenix quite quickly.

During his commencement ceremony as Fenix’s new Captain, the Deadmans launch a big assault on Fenix to which Daiji and his teammates proceed to attack the Giff Juniors and try to protect the civilians as they evacuated. Daiji then was asked by George Karizaki to use the Revice Driver and Rex Vistamp to transform into a Kamen Rider, but the former doubted himself and showed fear to use them after he saw his commander had failed to transform and instead created the Rex Deadman. The creature almost finished him off as he was in his moment of hesitation before Daiji was saved by his older brother from the rampaging Rex Deadman. He then witnessed Ikki becoming Kamen Rider Revi to protect him and the rest of their family.

The next day, Daiji approaches Ikki and requests him to work with Fenix to fight the Deadmans. Although his older brother still refused, he ended up taking the Revice Driver in the meantime after learning about a Deadmans attack at the golf course. He recognized Ikki was having a hard time getting along with his devil, Vice, due to his hunger for humans and his antagonistic nature. Once Ikki and Vice came to an agreement, Daiji continues to aid Kamen Rider Revi and Kamen Rider Vice during the fight against the Deadman.

The following day, Sakura ends up being taken hostage by a man who is apparently the Kong Deadman's contractor. When Julio demanded a Vistamp in exchange, Daiji rushed to Fenix to retrieve two Vistamps. Before he left, he noticed an in-development Driver created by George. Although Daiji requested to use the belt, both George and Wakabayashi refused to allow him due to his hesitant nature. He managed to return back to the scene to hand Julio the Ptera Vistamp, only for the Deadman to take back their deal. Daiji managed to hand the Mammoth Vistamp to Ikki, allowing Revi and Vice to defeat the Kong Deadman as Mammoth Genome. Although they managed to save Sakura and her friend, Daiji was disappointed on how he struggled with the ordeal despite Ikki's praise towards him.

The next morning, Daiji pleaded for Ikki to sign the contract one more time. Tired of Ikki's refusal and obsession with the bathhouse, Daiji lashed out with him for not caring for the lives of others. When the Kong Deadman's contractor was revealed to be Ayaka Oketani, Daiji was present to see Ikki fail in battle. This was the last straw for Daiji as he scolded his older brother for thinking being a Kamen Rider would be easy, although Ikki refuted why Daiji couldn't do it himself. It was only through their mother's assistance where Ikki would understand why Daiji wanted him to be a Rider. While Daiji participated in Fenix's standoff against the Kong Deadman Phase 2, Ikki arrived to tell Daiji that he will sign the contract and work with Fenix as their Kamen Rider. After Ayaka was saved, Daiji was present to see Ikki signing the contract and informed him that his services with Fenix will provide for Happy Spa's financial issues.

Daiji would become aware that someone in Fenix had apparently stolen the Lion Vistamp and there is a traitor afoot in the organization. Employing the need for Ikki and Vice's assistance, Daiji joined in the stakeout with co-captain Hiromi Kadota and George Karizaki to draw out the traitor. When George granted him a completed Driver, "Daiji" took it and transformed into Kamen Rider Evil, eventually ambushing the Fenix squad. When Revice assumed the Lion Genome to face Julio and Olteca, Evil arrived and attacked the duo. Julio and Olteca sensed this new Kamen Rider is the true mastermind behind the Lion Deadman's creation before they fled the scene. Revi and Vice were left overwhelmed by the power of the mysterious new Rider.

Personality

Daiji is described as clear-headed, being shy but quite prideful. He is both athletic and an honors student.

Although he was the intended user of the Revice Driver, he became extremely hesitant and scared to use it after watching the Rex Deadman come to being. This hesitancy and fear stuck with him and sparked whenever he touched any of George Karizaki's inventions. Said hesitancy would also spark a hidden resentment towards Ikki for being able to successfully transform without any drawbacks, which would eventually lead to his inner demon, Kagero, to be unleashed.

Bat Genome (バットゲノム, Batto Genomu) is Evil's bat-based primary form accessed by using the Bat Vistamp in the Twosidriver.

This form is proven to be twice stronger than Revi and Vice in any form they assumed. His strength is not only powerful enough to send Vice flying into the air over 10 feet high, he also boasts a faster mobility while exploiting Revi's agile movements.

Bat Genome consists of the following parts:

  • Evil Bat Head (エビルバットヘッド, Ebiru Batto Heddo): The helmet.
    • Evil Bat Echo (エビルバットエコー, Ebiru Batto Ekō): The head radome. It reproduces the echolocation using ultrasonic waves of bats and uses it as radar and flight control. In addition, ultrasonic waves can also be used for directed energy weapons, and can neutralize the hearing of the target.
    • Bat Brachi Eye (バットブラチアイ, Batto Burachi Ai): The compound eyes. Taking advantage of the irregular shape, the field of view can be expanded and deflected flexibly. In addition, even in situations where visibility cannot be secured, such as in the dark, by visualizing the information obtained from Evil Bat Echo, it is possible to carry out activities that are the same as usual.
    • Bat Carabellad (バットカラベラード, Batto Karaberādo): The face armor. The strong armor that protects the face is composed of a combination of trapezoidal and inverted trapezoidal cross sections, and has extremely high stealth performance and ricochet performance.
    • Versus Crusher (バーサスクラッシャー, Bāsasu Kurasshā): The oral cavity. By increasing the concentration of oxygen obtained by breathing and permeating it into every corner of the body, the motor function of the user is dramatically improved, and the effect of accelerating the recovery speed of fatigue is produced.
  • Bat Brandy Jacket (バットブランディージャケット, Batto Burandī Jaketto): The chest armor. The unique ability engraved with the symbol mark makes the user a bat warrior. As a result, he becomes a dark hitman who specializes in covert behavior by gaining high tranquility and flying ability. In addition, it has a built-in "Evil System" (エビルシステム, Ebiru Shisutemu) that amplifies the negative energy of the user and converts it into power, creating powerful fighting power.
  • Versus Genomic Suit (バーサスゲノミックスーツ, Bāsasu Genomikku Sūtsu): The reinforced suit. Deployed at the same time as the Versus-Up, the genetic information of the species supplied from the Twosidriver is reconstructed, and by wearing it in an enhanced shape, the user is transformed into Kamen Rider Evil.
  • Evil Bat Shoulder (エビルバットショルダー, Ebiru Batto Shorudā): The shoulder armor. By thinning and deploying the powerful energy "Genome Power" (ゲノムパワー, Genomu Pawā) supplied by the Twosidriver, wings are formed that grant the user the power of flight.
  • Evil Bat Arm (エビルバットアーム, Ebiru Batto Āmu): The arms. The upper body armor "Bat Brandy Jacket" including the arms has high stealth, and it suddenly appears on the data such as instruments, and it is possible to make it appear as if it disappeared suddenly.
  • Evil Bat Gloves (エビルバットグローブ, Ebiru Batto Gurōbu): The gloves. Special adjustments have been made to handle the Evilblade once removed from the Twosidriver, and granting the wielder enhanced sword skills.
  • Evil Bat Leg (エビルバットレッグ, Ebiru Batto Reggu): The legs. Utilizing its high impact absorption ability, it not only receives the enemy's attack with its legs, but also protects it from the terrible impacts it makes, such as special moves. In addition, the movement sounds such as footsteps are minimized by combining with the quiet ability of bats.
  • Evil Bat Boots (エビルバットブーツ, Ebiru Batto Būtsu): The boots. Equipped with a sole with strong suction power, it is possible to walk on the wall or top surface. Also, by concentrating energy, the special move "Darkness Finish" can be activated.

This form has the following finisher:

  • Bat Darkness Finish (バットダークネスフィニッシュ, Batto Dākunesu Finisshu): Evil delivers a turquoise energy slash using the Evil Blade.
