For the original version, see Creation King.

The Creation King (創世王, Sōseiō), additionally named King Genesis,[1] is a character in Kamen Rider Black Sun. A Large Grasshopper Kaijin (大蝗怪人, Ōinago Kaijin), it is the origin of all other Kaijin and is revered by most Kaijin as a deity. It secretes a blue fluid that is harvested by Gorgom for the production of Heat Heaven and the creation of new Kaijin. As it nears the end of its lifespan, Gorgom seeks to create a successor.

History[]

Background[]

Creation King human

The man that would become the Creation King screams in pain as he is implanted with the stone that would turn him into a Kaijin.

The Creation King was originally a prisoner of war that had been remodeled by a research unit assembled by Michinosuke Donami in 1936. On the day of the grasshopper plague and solar eclipse, the prisoner was imperfectly fused with another test subject and was forcibly transformed into a Kaijin, going berserk and murdering most of the unit. However, it spared its creators Kouzou Minami and Soichiro Akizuki, who happened to be outside the operation room during the birth of the first Kaijin. Both scientists continued their research under the direction of the government and relocated the Creation King to a little village.

The Creation King's extracts were used to create new Kaijins, and to create a substance called Heat Heaven that gave Kaijins regeneration and strength. The Creation King was often referred to as "God" by the scientists, leading other Kaijin to revere it as such. A child Kotaro Minami and Nobuhiko Akizuki once met the Creation King when trying to get some of its extracts to heal their wounds.

In 1972, Darom of Gorgom was able to strike a deal with Dounami to give Kaijins equal rights in exchange for Kaijins becoming weapons of war. The rest of Gorgom opposed this and tried to run away with the Creation King. They loaded it into a crate and hid it in the same village they grew up in. The adult Kotaro decided to kill the Creation King and went to its hiding place in his grasshopper form, however the Creation King used its psychic powers to stop him and twisted his leg, rendering it almost unusable.

Modern Day[]

The Creation King was recovered by the Japanese government and secluded in a lab, where its extracts continued to be harvested. The Creation King meanwhile grew to immense size, and in 2022 was nearing the end of its lifespan, prompting Gorgom to find the Kingstones and create a new Creation King.

When Gorgom initially recovered the red and green Kingstones, Darom and Bishum attempted to make themselves the new Creation King but were rejected; Black Sun and Shadow Moon, as well as Aoi Izumi were deemed proper candidates for the Creation King due to their strength.

Death[]

Kotaro invades the Gorgom headquarters with the intent of killing the Creation King for good. The Creation King once again tried to use its psychic powers, but to no avail. Kotaro succeeds in ripping its heart out, but the Creation King slices off Kotaro's leg in its dying throes. Kotaro escapes, and Nobuhiko arrives to the scene. Prime Minister Dounami and several guards soon arrive and accuse Nobuhiko of killing the Creation King. Dounami discovers that its heart is still beating, attributing it to its strong vitality, and props it up on a hook.

Legacy[]

Nobuhiko takes control of Gorgom Party and declares he will become the new Creation King. Kotaro heals his leg and returns to the Creation King's room to battle Nobuhiko, with the red and green Kingstones once again gathered. Nobuhiko ultimately dies. Kotaro combines both Kingstones and plunges them into the Creation King's heart, resulting in Kotaro himself becoming the new Creation King. Kotaro is later killed by Aoi with the Satansaber, and the Kingstones are recovered again, putting an end to the Creation King.

Personality[]

When the Creation King was first created, it went berserk and massacred many of the scientists that were nearby. Upon discovery by doctors Minami and Akizuki, they noted that it seemed to be crying.

The Creation King is said to have no will of its own, but there are times it moves by its own volition. When the young Nobuhiko and Kotaro visited it, the Creation King used its powers to hold them in place and pat them on the head, perhaps indicating that it may still have a shred of humanity remaining. The Creation King will also not hesitate to use its powers for self-defense, as seen during Kotaro's attempts to kill it.

Powers[]

  • Kaijin Physiology: Being the first of its kind, as well as the progenitor of all Kaijin, the Creation King is considered the pinnacle of all Kaijin in terms of physical strength and psychic capabilities.
    • Enzyme Secretion: The Creation King produced a special extract which had exceptional healing and anti-aging properties. The extract became the primary ingredient for Heat Heaven and could also be used to mutate humans into kaijins.
    • Psychic Powers: The Creation King could use its psychic powers for telekinesis, being capable of freezing, pushing, pulling, and damaging people for self-defense.
    • Superhuman Strength: When the Creation King was younger. it had exceptional physical strength and was able to slice apart humans with ease.
    • Superhuman Vitality: Despite having been ripped out, the Creation King's heart continued to beat and may even have still been alive, as it crawled towards the Kingstones when Kotaro gathered them.

Weaknesses[]

  • Lack of Sapience: Upon becoming a Kaijin, the Creation King's free will was significantly suppressed or possibly entirely erased. This lack of self-awareness or autonomy could indeed be exploited as a weakness, making the Creation King vulnerable to manipulation or control by others.
  • Satansaber: The Satansaber is a weapon specifically designed or capable of killing the Creation King. As such, it represents both a tool to defends him and a significant threat to its existence.
  • Aging and Stature Limitation: The Creation King will grow in size over time due to aging, diminishing its reflexes and psychic abilities. Its immense size restricts mobility, relying on external help for transportation.

Initially, the Creation King resembled a humanoid locust mutant. As he aged, he grew larger and eventually gained a bloated abdomen. Since shortly after his creation, his intellect and free will has been greatly reduced, leaving him unable to speak or move unless provoked. Despite his immense strength and revered psychic powers among other Kaijin, he primarily serves as a mindless source of the blue extract used for lesser Kingstones and Heat Heaven.

His heart and Nobuhiko Akizuki's dead body were later assimilated into Kotaro Minami, forcibly transforming him into a new Creation King.

Behind the Scenes[]

Portrayal[]

  • In his past form, the Creation King was portrayed by an uncredited suit actor, while his present form was a giant animatronic prop that was also moved around via puppetry. In both of his forms, the Creation King was voiced by Takumu Miyazono (宮園拓夢, Miyazono Takumu).

Notes[]

  • According to Kamen Rider Zukan, the Creation King is actually the result of two experiment subjects being fuse. This could be the explanation for the second locust Kaijin head near his shoulder.
  • His backstory is an allusion to the real world and horrific events of Unit 731, an installation in the Japanese Imperial Military located in Harbin, China that murdered countless lives in inhumane experiments for the benefit of Japan’s efforts in WWII through biological and chemical weapons development and using prisoners as test subjects. This is considered to be the worst war crime that Japan had committed during WWII.
