The Transformation Belt Chimera Driver (変身ベルト キメラドライバー, Henshin Beruto Kimera Doraibā) is the transformation device used by Kamen Rider Chimera and Kamen Rider Daimon.
The Chimera Driver was created by George Karizaki after he resolved to not rely on the power of demons any longer. However, it was stolen by Chic along with one of Giff's eyes. George later created a second Chimera Driver and embedded the other eye into it.
Overview[]
Few people are able to transform with the Chimera Driver, and those who fail are transformed into a demon. In the case of George Karizaki, failing to transform instead released Chic, his father's inner demon that had been transferred to him. Even successfully transforming places a heavy burden on the user, and repeated usage still poses the risk of becoming a demon. Despite George not wanting to use the power of demons anymore, the back plate of the Chimera Driver can be removed to reveal a compartment for installing one of Giff's eyes. Doing so results in a stronger transformation as well as gives the Driver the ability to separate inner demons from people and bring them under the user's control. While transforming into Kamen Rider Daimon, Azuma suffered no ill effects. Whether this is due to his Driver using one of Giff's eyes or Azuma's altered physiology due to making a contract with Giff is unknown.
When one of Giff's eyes is installed, the Driver also has several abilities of its own that can be used without transforming. It can extract Giff's cells from people who possess them, materialize inner demons as Giff Juniors, and transform people into Gifftarians. It is also able to generate a crimson energy dome large enough to cover a city. This barrier can be broken by another Chimera Driver equipped with Giff's other eye.
Design[]
The Chimera Driver is composed of the following parts: to be added
Functionality[]
Transformation[]
To transform, the user activates a Vistamp and inserts it into the slot of the Driver, then pulls it to the side.
- Chimera: Silver energy crab claws and orange energy crocodile jaws appear around the user while their body is covered in energy DNA strands. The claws and jaws close over the user, transforming them into Kamen Rider Chimera.
- Daimon: The user is surrounded by a red energy octopus, magenta energy rhinoceros, and orange energy centipede constructs. The animal constructs shatter and the pieces cover the user, forming the armor of Kamen Rider Daimon.
Finisher[]
- Main article: Finisher (Revice)
After transformation, the user activates a finisher by pulling the Vistamp to the side twice.
Users (chronological order)[]
User | Kamen Rider | Episode Obtained | Description |
George Karizaki | Kamen Rider Chimera (failed attempt) |
Kamen Rider Revice Movie Spin-Off Delivered Drama: Birth of Chimera | George attempted to transform into Kamen Rider Chimera in order to test the Driver, but failed, leading to Chic being released from his body. Chic then takes the Chimera Driver along with one of Giff's eyes from George. |
Shinta | Shinta is the first person to volunteer to test the Chimera Driver, but fails to transform. He later turns into a demon as a result.
Ryu Mukai | Kamen Rider Chimera | Ryu was given the Chimera Driver along with the Twin Chimera Vistamp after he volunteered to become Kamen Rider Chimera and successfully transformed. However, he was later defeated by Azuma and his allies. Azuma took the Driver from him while Nozomu Otani picked up the Twin Chimera Vistamp.
Azuma | Kamen Rider Daimon | After defeating Ryu, Azuma takes the Chimera Driver and gives it to Chic so that the demon could install the eye of Giff that he possessed. He then used the Driver along with the Tri Chimera Vistamp given to him by Chic to become Kamen Rider Daimon.
His driver was stolen by Nozomu Otani, but was later taken back. In the end, it fades with its user after the final battle between him and Ikki Igarashi.
Nozomu Otani | Kamen Rider Chimera | Kamen Rider Revice: Battle Familia | Nozomu took Azuma's Driver and used the Twin Chimera Vistamp that he still possessed to transform into Kamen Rider Chimera. It was later taken back by Azuma after he was defeated. |
Orteca | N/A | Kamen Rider Revice: Battle Familia | Orteca was given the second Chimera Driver created by George in order to dispel the barrier created by Azuma. After Azuma was defeated, the Driver was taken back by George. |

Behind the Scenes[]
Portrayal[]
The Chimera Driver is voiced by Shingo Fujimori (藤森 慎吾, Fujimori Shingo), who also voiced Chic and the majority of the Vistamps. However, unlike other devices in the series, the voice is distorted, similar to the Proto Vistamps.
Notes[]
- The Chimera Driver is a heavily retooled version of the Revice Driver.
- The DX Chimera Driver specially interacts with the Twin Chimera and Tri Chimera Vistamps in order to produce the various animal finishers. When used in another Driver, these Vistamps will only produce the Twin Chimera Edge/Tri Chimera Edge finisher.
- However, the DX Chimera Driver otherwise functions identically to the Revice Driver. As a result, using any other Vistamps in it will produce the same sounds as the Revice Driver.
- When using the Twin Chimera Vistamp, two of the Chimera Driver's lights glow, referencing the number of animals the Vistamp is based on. The Tri Chimera Vistamp instead causes all three lights to glow. Using any other Vistamp causes one light to glow.
- In addition, Kamen Rider Chimera's transformation announcement says "Chimera" twice, while Kamen Rider Daimon's transformation announcement says "Daimon" three times.
